Assembled during April of 1968 in Norwood, Ohio, this awesome Camaro is the beneficiary of a 5-year old, Rotisserie restoration. The no expense spared restoration massaged its rock-solid body into better-than-new condition. After that body was completely stripped, and a bit of high-quality metalwork was completed, its sculpted panels were prepped for a correct coat of GM's Lemans Blue urethane. Once that glossy basecoat dried, smooth Ermine White rally stripes were sealed under a durable clearcoat shine. And today, this top-notch pony car is a spectacular classic which combines the best aspects of Chevrolet performance with the gratuitous fun and old school style that only vintage American muscle can provide!
With its classic proportions and modernist panels, the first-generation Camaro is an inherently attractive design. And with today's world class restoration techniques, it has become an excellent canvas for any skilled builder to create a seriously nice car. At the front of this clean F-Body, a bright silver grille centers a small Chevrolet emblem between simple parking lamps, bright halogen headlights, a mirror-like bumper and an optional D80 chin spoiler. Above that grille, a correct Camaro hood leads to original the eye to like-new glass that's bordered by straight stainless trim, cleared by matte-finished wipers and reflected by a correct square mirror. At the sides of that hood, sculpted fenders combine with traditional chrome door handles, correct fender emblems and fresh stainless rocker trim to detail the car's deep green profile. And at the back of those fenders, an option D80 decklid spoiler complements chrome-trimmed tail lights, a body-matched fuel cap and a second, mirrored bumper.
Under the car's Kansas-flat hood you'll find an original 3914678 branded V8 which was cast on March (C) 14th (14) of 1968 (8), and was assembled during 1968 as a Z/28-exclusive 302 (MO), and stamped with a correct 18N417758 partial VIN. Straight from the factory, Chevrolet's high performance SCCA Mustang slayer utilizes high flow, rectangular port heads, a forged steel crank, forged steel rods and forged aluminum pistons to twist stout 11 to 1 compression into more than 350 horsepower! At the top of the red-hot small block, the very rare cowl plenum induction system swirls air into the correct date code Winter intake via the correct date code 4053 4-barrel carburetor. At the sides of that intake, the date code correct double hump heads prop chrome valve covers above the owner preferred installed headers. When fired, the infamous 302 snarls and barks like a real competition piece. Its ancillary components are either date code correct “born with” or GM fresh. And an evenly sprayed combination of Chevy Orange engine skin and satin black fender framing is carefully interrupted by variety of fresh decals and correct markings.

That's easily the best sounding stock '68 Z/28 I've ever heard!!!!!!

It does sound great. I know the headers help this one out quite a bit. But, the sweetest sounding 302 CID in my opinion with the optional Chambered Exhaust sounded even better! I've had them side by side and you'd have to hear one some day. I'm hoping to get one in inventory and then we'll see!

@@pmclassiccars Restored these in the late 80s for a big name F body guy who passed in Ca a few yrs back. 'This is a NICE job. Where can I get a plenum assy? My orig AC hole in the firewall in my 67 'El is almost identical so... What brand/grind cam is this, sounds a little more aggressive than the stocker (just right!!) If only new muscle cars could have sounded like these. Uncle bought the same exact car new in 68, was his daily. Id ask him to go start it so I could listen...thought I was a strange 7 yr old kid til i turned up at his house 15 yrs later with a 67.

My 1971 Chevelle SS 427 L88 with a M22 did 60 mph at 2,000 rpm and a 3.91 rear so I'm kinda surprised at the rpm and that speed. I expected 4.11's or 88's at that rpm. No the 427 was from a vet and the M22 from other.

The M22 might have had different gearing than the M21? Maybe someone will chime in and figure this one our. 60 mph at 2000 rpm with a four speed is pretty hard to imagine. The 302 CID didn't even start making power until 3000-3500 rpm. They had a very narrow power band and it was all above 4000 rpm. I've heard about some people running this engine up to 8000 rpm!!!

7000 all day in stock configuration and. Yes 8 grand was not out of the realm of possibilities I guess not all valve springs are the same its just like anything else you can. Have two exactly identical engines to the letter and one will make more power than the other for some reason clearances just a little different or broken in different something makes the difference

@@pmclassiccars 4th gears are all 1:1 ratio. THe M22 had a tall first gear which wasnt great for the street. M21 is the way to go. Too many dont realize these engines cruise best in thier happy zone on the hwy around 3kish+- Lugging a carbd car does it no favors. Nothing like listening to that for an hour or two on the hwy. My 70 Z cruised 65 at 3-3400 didnt hurt a thing, music!

My guess is he’s got stock(3.73) or the optional 4.11. Own tires are not tall. 45 mph @ 2500 rpm sounds familiar

Not in this car as I see it. Maybe it's in the garage.

seems almost like a bait and switch... why would it not be on it? looks like any other Z-28 to me and not honestly worth the almost 90k.. but some one with too much money will buy it for their collection.

@ericheine2424 Go to 7:40 in the video and you'll see the Plenum Induction System coming off the left side of the Air Cleaner that routes into the firewall. It's a much different system than the more familiar Cowl Induction. The air is actually sucked in through the vents below the windshield. Thanks for watching! Tris

Please see my response to the plenum induction below. Also, the car sold within 12 hours of first being added to our website. Be careful when you try to value Classic Cars. Remember, a car like anything else is only worth what someone will pay for it. You must understand and know the market before you attempt to value anyone's car. Thanks for watching! Tris

@@pmclassiccars I saw it they must be blind? Doing the same to my 67 'El a similar opening was behind the nasty ac box I threw in the trash. Nicejob on the resto, has a nicer cam to boot.

Trim tag shows a Black vinyl top.

@pmclassiccars Год назад
Yes, that is noted in our website description. There were a few deviations from the original "as built" specifications. The headers were one and the previous owner decided he liked a white vinyl top in lieu of the traditional black. We were going to change it but the car sold within 12 hours of being listed. Thanks for watching! Tris
