Adore is amazing, they evolve the songs so much, that brings hope sometimes. But this album, Home, is just pain, hate and loss. its perfect and is my favorite by them. Sometimes, the only feelings left is not the best ones, and I understand how life can be cruel most of the times...
Lyrics: Awaken by the moon, amongst the stars doth I rise To feel a breeze, to gaze the fires My naked feet bleed the soil To the father orb, begs my skin, drink the sun I am dying, of feeding this life To take existence -- Bleed it out If heaven cries Its tears fall too late On our charred remains Cremated and given to the river To fall to the sea -- to flow to the abyss I have become You have become We have become The abyss We have nothing -- raped from us We shall remain like these stars That shine brighter then the heavens Obscure, we are only to leap from shadows What hand shall I fear? No one! What path shall I fear? The distance! What God shall I fear? No one! What existence shall I feel? Wait... Wait... Oh, please wait Don't go
Heyoo. Rhys here. I played bass on the Home album and wrote the lyrics for Thirst. The album as a whole has a theme of loss and when we were looking for lyrics for this tune I took a stab at penning them. I channeled my own experiences of growing up in an extremely stifling religious family/community and my journey towards a free mind. For brevity's sake I boiled it down to finding the chaos of nature to be your spiritual guide. It is a freeing and beautiful thing, all of your life is up to you. Sometimes though, the chaos can be unbearable and you wish you could have the stability of a comfortable delusion. That's what the "Wait..." part is attempting to convey. I very much enjoy hearing different interpretations of what I wrote all those years ago. I think there was an unconscious decision to keep the lyrics on all the songs poweful yet vague so listeners could dive into their own pain while they went on the journey of the album. Thanks for listening.
@@rhysfriesen Hola señor. Did you play bass at Adore album? if it is yes, what exactly does DDHS means? i mean name of the song, is it ddims or some medicine - located stuff?
@justaman1864 I didn't play on Adore but I do indeed know what DDHS stands for. It's just an acronym for a stupid inside joke and I don't think I have the authority to reveal what it means :)
