You have VIR Grand West sessions though, which is fairly similar in groove, thus it's nickname "mini nordschleife"

The ring is narrow, super difficult to drive and dangerous. What you need to develop as a driver and have fun without high risk of destroying your car, is a small track that allows top speed of just 100mph for a short burst of 1-3 seconds. With the speeds on the ring, not only you can't really learn without almost certain crash, even BMW M3s braking system can overheat to the level the ABS with fail and you will crash. Slow twisty tracks are most fun and let to learn the most.

@@JoseSantos-ys3rj You're right. Especially the 540 is pretty front heavy small bends, especially when going up and down hills it begins pushing over the front axle due to the engine weight. The m30b35 is a lot lighter and nimble. If you're looking for a rallye cross or hillclimb situation I'd go for the e30 325 or e30 with engine swap m30b35. The weight overall is lower and the engine rinses lower in the chassis than in the e34. If it's more a fub road car you're looking for I'd go with e34. Much more to choose from and better options package.

@@goldencheese7247 thanks! the things that pushes me back are the taxes and maintenance. I'm studying mechanical engineering and have some experience working on cars because of some friends, but still bmw's are heavy drinkers

@@JoseSantos-ys3rj in that case e30 325 or the cheaper (manual) e36 325, 323 coupes. Less taxes due to less engine size. But regardless of 320 323 325 335,youl always end up between realistically 9-11 litres/100km. Going with e30/34 would allow you to register them as old /youngtimer which saves you some cash with the insurance. If you're into fixing stuff yourself they're all great choices e39/34/36 are very accessible with readily accessible spare parts markets in Europe. As mentioned I'd also check out 320 325 and 323 e36's. They're a lot of fun to drive, too and still available in the thousands for smaller budget. Have a nice Xmas. :)
