I have this car and a 325i E46. The 316i E36 is abit slower ofcourse but its a great car, its great for just driving around and traveling in, i like its character :D feels sporty and good in many ways!
Several years ago I had a 1994 318i with 5 speed. I installed a larger all aluminum radiator HD water pump, 17" 328i M Sport wheels, more aggressive rubber and E-36 M-3 front and rear sway bars with urethane bushings. I had the dog-leg 5 speed with 5 the gear as direct drive. That car would pull to 130 mph all day and you'd play hell keeping up with me. I only wish I lived in Germany so I could have taken it to "the ring".
I got the same car ! The heritage of my father , bought in February 1998 .. though there’s just the new series 3 .. watching you driving very cool ! But I know it can goes much more fast .. it’s a small beast! 👍🏻
edimenn You've clearly never seen a real base E36. No airbags - only a ridiculous "ironing board" steering wheel, no tachometer (a clock in its place), black bumpers, no fuel economizer...
GruszkuEntertainment 2 bags, tachometer and that is. 2 extras to full basic and maybe a bumpers. No matter it is basic inoff. No air conditiong, big board, el. windows, heated seats/electric and so on..
Nice driving line there. Congrats. Looks like its not your first time :) ...but in theory getting curves so hard is not so optimal. Because good speed after the curve count most on the track and car like this imo. I would try to delay braking point and also push brakes a little approching to the curve apex. Easily say they say... :) Your driving skills are very good.
Hey, very nice driving. I have a question tho unrelated to racing. I wanted to buy a bmw but im quite short on money and as such i can only afford entry level types. Everywhere i look people say that 316is are gutless and weak. I'm no racer and just want an interesting car for normal day by day driving. How would this engine handle hills and motorway speeds when loaded with 4 ppl and baggage? Would it run out of steam or not? thanks.
so i got mine with paint damage for about 600€ ~750$ it is my first car and it would not matter if i bump accidentally into something however, after some months i will paint the left door and something else at the back, what will cost about 500€ so all together about 1100€ for a perfect beginner car, what is a lot fun to drive ;) (pricees in Austria, i'm quite sure they are cheeper somwhere else)
There is no such thing as BMW E36 316 is. The 318 "is" in case of the sedan and coupe and "ti" in case of the "Compact" model indicates the use of a 1,8 or 1,9 liter 16V gasoline engine, straight-4 with power of 140-144 HP. E36 316 is a very good car, extremely high-revving engine but otherwise very good, reliable, has high fuel economy. I don't like it, because it doesn't pull at all under 3000 rpm, but it's just me, I like long stroke, low rev engines. I'd say choose the BMW 320, straight-6 2,0 liter 24V engine with 150 HP, you'll get a power reserve, better standard equipment, and the distinctive "BMW sound" from the R6 motor. It sure is more expensive to run than the 316, if you can't afford it go for the 316, or eventually the 318 (regular, not the is or ti, with 115HP).
dead_Kitty BMW E36 325 was a pretty fast car, it had no speed limiter, "governor", BMW said openly that this 192 HP machine could go at least 260 km/h. The later model, 328 was able to do "only" ~240, but had better acceleration.
Why are You so cynical ? You drive rather good. And i wonder why a 116 i ist running about 230 km/h (GPS) with his 122 PS? Okay, it is the same machine like in 118i and 120i. Only terminated by Software. But no chance to tune it over the OSB. BMW has something built in, which says: Parity Error. So a tuner must built out the central chip and give ist other characteristics. Maybe it did not work correct at may 116i. It feels like 143 PS, so a 118i. He also ist a lttle bit faster than the 318i i hade before -always 143 PS.No panic, i repeat: You driver excellent !Greetings from Germany, i wish You the very best !
Come on....... The 316i is from 1990-1999 an has 106hp. Your 116i ist from`??? And has a better engine with more hp! And finali... you have a ego problem...
I have no problem. Stay tuned and write in a normal way to me, now i have the 116i with the 2 liter machine. All the same as the 118i. So You can chip it to 150 PS. So i did. People are estonished, when i let them pass, but the TDI, s until 2 l are too slow for this 116i, this sign ist still on the car. I hope my new car will come soon. A M 125 i with different power. 220 PS when You drive in the "Eco- Mode" and 230 PS when running in "sport mode".I choosed the "M", bcause there are so many extra. But that is not good for this car ? i choosed the "Sport Brakes". When it comes is need other tires for the winter. So i decided to take the tires on normally rims. No with this brakes i need alloy wheels. They coast 1800 EURO. But i wanted a car, which contains everthing i want. Navigation, idrive, extended instumentary, one cam back and one cam on the front. You will ask why i did not buy the M 135i ? The machine has 320 PS and i think that is too much for me. I am dreving cars since 1980, but i am gettig older.I do not see that for example my reaction ist worser. But i made a test and yes my reactin is not so good as 1980 I wish You the very best -hope You understand me now.And sorry for the bad English i am writing. Many greetings from Germany
