This is rare television footage of Rudolf Nureyev conducting the orchestra of the American Ballet Theatre in Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet. In rehearsal, there are glimpses of Sylvie Guillem and Laurent Hilaire and ABT.
Dear carles03 I just found this video that you had uploaded several days ago of Rudy. The two dancers I love most in the world...the perfect partnership......Rudy and Margot.......you seem to have found some scarce video of both of them. It's really a treat to go to utube, type in their names and see new information on them. Rudy looks so ill here. And is having some trouble speaking. They sparked ballet into a new world. I miss them both. Once again, thanks for finding this!
@drrabner47 My pleasure... They have always been an inspiration and they still are. It's the wonderful thing about youtube, the possibility to find material that you did not even know it existed. As for this clip, yes, it is sad in a way... but on the other hand it shows Nureyev's determination to keep on going! I do miss them too! Even though I never saw them dancing at their prime!! I think their magic transcended even on a tv screen...
