MUST READ- did you know this? 🎾 This was one of the most incredible matches by some crazy stats. Serena coming back after a year at almost 41, the absolute GOAT and legend. On the other side Parrizas, who in 2017 was told to hang the racket because of a career ending injury sitting between 200-300 wta for over 10 years. After 2 years without hitting, starts dating Carlos Boluda, world champion at 10,12,14,16,18 and under who was gonna be the next nadal back in the day. He decides to hang his racket to help her make a last try for it. Their story of love propels her to pick up her racket, now miraculously injury free, adapt her serve to be able to keep playing and in one year is one of the 3 oldest players to ever crack the top 100 at 30 years old. With a whole new life after 30, and by part of a lucky loser this week she makes main draw ranked #57 gets a chance to play the GOAT in center court. What disparity and how incredible are the changes we are seeing in age and competitiveness 😍😍😍

I think after so many recent losses she’s was just playing really cautiously and taking her time. Considering that it was good to see her come through in straights. Lately she’s been losing these types of matches and not staying focused enough when a few things (like the let courts and balls right on the line) don’t go her way but today she did what you have to do sometimes - just keep the ball in - because she knew her opponent could never over power her. Players like this make Serena have to create more of her own pace but this is a good practice match for the match with Bencic next round.

@@deepakmahajan170 I don't agree with your claim... Prime Sharapova or Kvitova would be a contender for winning Slams these days too. A difference is that matches became more physical from round 1 (instead of from round 3) but not necessarily more demanding tennis-wise (technique, precision, tactic etc - with this regards nowadays we've got some kind of decline). The proportions changed but it's not like it's harder in general because there's a little secret that nobody tells on TV/in the media is that WTA is in the deepest crisis since mid 90s and the random slam winners of recent years only prove it. We do have fit sportswomen on the courts but we don't have great female tennis players anymore (with high level of skills, variety, charisma, results-oriented with a mental strength) ...a bit of generalization here but u know what i mean

I don’t know, but is she in great health? Absolutely. She always had big tits and a fat ass. Take that away and she looks like the rest of the skinny girl tennis players. If you don’t believe me, then look at her contemporaries. Venus put on weight because of the same reason. Same for Clijsters. As for other contemporaries? They’re all retired. Serena was doing Serena things. Her serve got better as the match went on...I was shocked by the three double faults, especially when Serena rarely double faults. But how she played, I rate her match play as a 7/10. I am concerned with her errors, though, since she may be going against Bencic in the next round, and Bencic is an Olympic champion on hard court, but Serena leads the head-to-head. Technically I give bencic the edge, but mental and fighting spirit is Serena's all day, so we will see. Critics say she is at least 30 lbs overweight, but Diaz lost to her, and she weighs like nothing. My cocern in her lungs. I don't think her lungs have fully recovered after they treated her for the clots. Serena looks out of breath during the first few rallies, which never was an issue for her, "overweight" or not. But that breakpoint save at 1:42. People that say she doesn't have the movement or speed anymore lied! Serena is probably one of the best defenders of all time. I don't think people give her enough credit for her returns and defense. Her returns and defense are very underrated. She is probably one of the best, if not the best returner and defender in tennis.

Serena tested the waters at Wimbledon, to see if she can still compete for majors. What that 1st rd loss at Wimbledon showed her is that with more match play and some good health she is still a contender. Against this field there is no reason for her to think otherwise there is no giants to be slayed. Women's tennis is very flawed and Serena knows that.
@lilnickydabaddest3451
@lilnickydabaddest3451 Год назад
Wrong!! Yes the top 10 couldn’t be anymore flawed and inconsistent but there’s a lot more depth lots of good players. I love Serena but she’s only won one tournament in the last 5 yrs for a reason it’s going to take a lot for her to win big tournaments again
@anthonyyusef5897
@anthonyyusef5897 Год назад
@@lilnickydabaddest3451 If your top 10 is flawed what does that tell you about the field. Learn the difference between quantity and quality and then talk to me about depth. I don't see a lot of good players. I see flawed and inconsistent players. As for Serena's record over the last 5yrs it's disingenuous not to mention that she's lost 4 major finals in that time. Against players that played the match of their careers!! Of course it will take a lot for a 40yr old to win majors, but no one stated that she will win majors. What was said that with more match play and good health she will be a contender and that is absolutely the truth. It wont be easy because no one has beaten father time yet, and that would be her toughest opponent.
@strawpaladin213
@strawpaladin213 Год назад
@@anthonyyusef5897 There is no way she will remain healthy enough to win another major or even a minor tournament. There are far too many players far better then she is today. Is she dangerous? Yes. She will even get a few wins due to her opponent being in awe most likely. but she doesnt have the movement, match readiness, or health to be able to handle the rigors of a major.

@@strawpaladin213 I'm going to assume you read my post? where I stated that she needs match play and good health. Since I don't possess a crystal ball that works I don't know what the future holds in regards to her health, and neither do you.

@@ivanbermudez4803 The point that you clearly didn't grasp is that this field is wildly inconsistent. Even with it's best players, major champions on the women's side have been anything but consistent or haven't you been paying attention. Clearly Serena is not the same player now, but with physical issues, the extended time away, her questionable fitness, Serena just keeps tapping into a rich well of passion and desire for the sport she has played a monumental role in transforning. All these younger brats (not her opponent here), act as if we owe them something. No, they owe Serena!
