You've been wondering how we were going to add a baby to our 1 bedroom apartment, well the wait is over, here is the creation of our nursery nook! I might have let me first time mom brain take over a little with the addition of a crib and a bassinet but I'm fine with that. When working on this space I searched for quite a few things on Etsy. it's amazing to me how you manage to fit so much in a small space but it doesn't look cluttered or overwhelming. there's so much balance in the room and enough space for baby!

I used the skubb boxes in an ikea dresser, and my son is 2 and it still works now. I only put them in the back half of the tarva dresser and it split the drawer into a front and back section. The small square ones were perfect for socks and small things like hats or slippers. Then I konmari folded his clothes and put tops in one section, pants in another and onesies/pjs in another. At the beginning we also had a section for swaddles and sleepsacks. BTW, once he phases out of the bassinet, that's a perfect spot for a Montessori play shelf. YOU GUYS!! I'm so excited for y'all! You're clearly going to be wonderful parents!

You are great at designing..I love the patterns, nods to the diaspora, the natural elements, and playfulness..it all works! You two make a great team and that is obvious through your interactions. I enjoyed nesting (making the hubby work hard on certain days :)). Anyway, as a mom of two, I love the fact that you did not find out the sex. We did not find out the sex of our children. It made the journey-fun, exciting, and a bit nerve-wracking but I would not change it!! There are not many surprises left in the world, but the sex of baby can be one. Keep the videos coming and I'll be here to watch!

I absolutely LOVE how you created this space for your baby! My husband and I are expecting our first baby in February of 2024. We also live in a 1 bedroom apartment. It amazing me to see that this can be achievable with limited space. I also love your décor pieces and color choices!

Had my first baby while renting a 1bd with hubby. I had an oversized living room and made my baby nook there. I was happy when my grandma saw it and said "your nursery is beautiful". I was feeling so bad about not moving before baby came but you know what new baby's live in your room with you anyway 😂

Everything is beautiful! So excited for you both. A few tips from your auntie! 1. Glad you realize that this set up will work for a year, maybe two tops. Then baby will outgrow (probably refuse) the crib. Glad it becomes a bed. 2. I like the idea of the Moses basket. It will allow a place for baby to hang out with you in the living room. When they outgrow it you can use it for toy storage. 3. The changing pad being wipeable is great, but trust me, you will learn to use a cover or at least line it with a cloth diaper. Trust.

Great advice! I was thinking they need consider a bassinet for the baby in the living room too unless they’re going to drag theirs from room to room.

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR SWEETIE! I love the African cultural vibe of your space. Per the Frames, I suggest getting painters tape to protect the glass and then Acrylic pain that matches the Crib for the border of the frames.

The room is sooo cute. FYI I had two babies. One I didn't know the sex and one I did. Let me say it makes a BIG difference not knowing. It is the best surprise you will ever get in your lifetime. Knowing the 2nd time took away a little element of surprise although it's always surprise when you see how they look. They are always the most beautiful baby in the world💕

👋Sean and his muscles really came into their own. Well done sir! 👏😊👍 Really enjoyed this and the results are both lovely and practical - you've chosen really well for your baby nook to make it both separate and blend in at the same time! I like all of it and think more dots definitely make the wall less 'giraffey'. Never had a moses basket but I really like that one and the rocker, though a little foot stool/pouffe may be beneficial to keep your little leggies comfy 😊 Biggest tip for a small baby space is keeping it tidy, organised and staying on top on the copious laundry! Also, make use of the space under the cot. Gah-still haven't gotten out to the p.o. and am now having to medically 'shield' until end of March so your stork will deffo have been before my parcel 😷🥴

Adorable nursery! Perhaps a few decorative boxes in a neutral color could add storage under the crib? Good for stuff you don’t need to access on a regular basis.

You are right to have the bassinet. When baby is first home put that right next to the bed. It will save your sanity.

We are making a baby nook in the walk in closet, and because bassinets are such a temporary thing, and I’m about to have my 4th child, we are opting for a bassinet that converts into a playpen. The side comes down for easier access, and once he’s in the play pen portion, it can unzip on the side to allow him to crawl out rather than crying to be taken out when he wakes up. This bassinet-playpen can also rock if we want it to. We’ve got a diaper storage thing and a couple bins that all have cute animals on them, so at least we’ve got a cute theme going that makes it feel like it’s baby’s room. I know cribs are more aesthetically appealing, and it’s awesome that cute mini cribs exist these days, but I love the functionality of this thing, and that it should fit him longer. (My current youngest is about to be 4, and has only been in a bunk bed with his big brother for a year. On the bottom bunk, of course. He had a convertible crib prior, that I had the side off of so it can be up against my bed to co-sleep.) Whatever works for the space, and hopefully lasts a while is best. Cuteness is a bonus. Our current room has our bed taking up most of the room, which is why my son’s crib wouldn’t fit to use again for his little brother, the way it did for him where we previously lived.

The Moses basket is beautiful and some babies love them and prefer them for a while so you might get loads of use out of it. I was an infant nanny for years and I've gotten a lot of use out of them over the years.
