I went to nursing school straight out of high school at 18 (I am now 34), I was the youngest one in my graduating class most people were older and doing career changes. We even had a few people in their 50s its was beautiful to see ! And yes they were successful in nursing school , found ways to make it work and graduated on time!
I’m 32 and I never finished my degree. I would much rather go through the LPN program because it’s a year. It will get me to work and if in enjoy the field, I will go through the LPN-RN bridge program. That’s what interests me the most about nursing. I like that there are stepping stone options. Luckily I do not have children and I’m not married. If I see you wonderful mamas doing it, I know I can. Thank you for sharing💜✨

I just turned 37 a few days ago & starting back again. I got my pre-reqs done at 35.. I've re-done my placement tests a few times, because my scores were right under the minimum acceptance score. Finally got accepted this time around(3rd time's the charm) & I start in August. Thankfully my boys are teenagers, so I can manage my time somewhat on top of working nights

I'm older 30s with 2 kids and I'm currently in nursing school and I am nervous every time a new semester starts lol. I was going to do the fast track masters in nursing but that PRICE and the fact that I wouldn't be able to work because it was accelerated...my best option was ADN and I only have to do 2 classes a semester (which unfortunately makes the program longer for me than normal but I need my sanity and not working is not an option). Glad to have found your channel!
I’m always super honest and supportive of women going to school with kids. My biggest suggestion is to make sure you have some support. It’s difficult but doable….
I have such a weird relationship with nursing. When I was 18 (I was also a new mom)I did my prerequisites and life got in the way. Then I went to respiratory school, I hated it the patient care part of it but I loved learning about the human body. I think I was immature back then. I tried again for nursing and finished my CNA and then was ready to apply for school but couldn’t past the math portion. I was so discouraged. I am re married now and I could pursue nursing, but I’m so scared of the math 😭. I love people and I feel that I would be so proud if I finally finished this goal. I’m glad I found your channel, we have a lot in common. ☺️
Hey girl hey! I'm so glad you found my channel as well. The good thing about life is we grow and go through phases that allow us to change constantly for the better. I say if you're in the position to do so, go for it! Life is short and if it's a passion don't let life go by thinking you should have, ya know? Honestly there is not a ton of math in nursing school. The biggest thing is knowing how to convert fractions. I hope you get inspired by me or maybe even someone else to apply and see what God has in store for you. Good luck!
Yes ma’am subscribed immediately! I’m in the same boat: starting the program in august with a family and no longer qualify for student loans so I’m saving up what I can right now . So happy to find someone in nursing school I can relate to
Thanks for sharing! I’m 35 with two kids, full time job and decided to go for my rn (with my long term goal of becoming a crna) and kept finding unrepeatable videos cause most of them are 20 something with no kids or a partner 😅

Hello! Thank you so much for posting this video 😢 I cried because ai identified with you and the things you mentioned. I am 38, I am a Montessori certified teacher and I’ve been feeling for almost 2 years a need of change in careers. My middle son was diagnosed with diabetes type 1 during the pandemic year and I have learned to take care of him. Suddenly I started to noticed that I have a calling for caring for the sick and for caring for peoples medical needs, I feel in my heart a calling for nursing. I’ve been around medical and nursing experiences since a little girl. My grandma was a nurse practitioner and my father a cardiologist, but I decide to become a teacher. I am discovering that I actually have a medical calling as well. But I am very scared. I currently stoped working as a lead Montessori teacher and decide to change path a little bit. I am working as a paraprofessional in classroom with severe special ed children. This job is more about caring for their physical needs like a nursing job, and this is confirming more my calling with nursing. What I don’t know if I’ll be able to do it and continue to work. I live in GA and here we have an accelerated BSN program of 12 months. I think I will have to resigned my job and dedicate my self completely to study. I also have 3 children an 18th year old who’s about to graduate from Highschool, the 14 year old who’s diabetic and a 6 year old who also has food allergies and is starting kindergarten. My husband supports me and he says I can do it, that it will be ok. But I am still scared, becouse I know his income is not enough. I really want to do it for myself but I am Not sure how this will affect my family, my economy and the quality of time I can give to my children. The good things is that my Montessori certificate is like an associates degree, I am still consider an undergraduate student. I do have some college credits becouse I wanted to become an early childhood teacher as well and I have completed 80 credits. But now I am not sure teaching is what I want to do anymore. That means I can still use scholarships and financial aid. I feel my heart ❤is asking for nursing school. But I have so many doubts! Also another scary thing is that English is my second language, I am from Puerto Rico, doing college completely in English is a little scary. I’ve been working and piecing in the US since 2013, but still I am no complete native. I apologize for my long message, I don’t really have anybody to talk about this who can understand and can give me some light and clarity. I appreciate any feedback you have for me ❤
Wow! Kuddos to you for even considering swapping careers. I feel like honestly the best time to go to school is after you figure out what you really are passionate. To be honest I didn’t know what I wanted to do and I got 2 degrees just doing stuff to find jobs. If this is something you really want to do and you have the support GO FOR IT! Good luck to you 🥰
Finally someone older!!!! I’m 44 and I’m starting one of my last 3 prerequisites. Ones I pass the TEAS I will start school in January 2022 I feel what you’re saying about the social media I’m always on it have to cut it out soon.
You go girl!!! Yes social media is a huge distraction. I plan to just keep taking it off my phone each time a semester begins! I get so much more done without it!

I needed a sign and then found your video! I’m 32, 3 kids, newly wed and work full time as a medical assistant. I’m in the position to take an overnight job and I’ve been struggle to decide if this is my time to go back to my nursing dreams. Having to work full time has always been my excuse but with an overnight job, I think I can finally go back to school.
Do what it takes, but remember you’ll need time to study. I know so many ppl who have done it and it worked just fine. At some point we have to stop making excuses and just do it! I pray you find what works and start your journey! ☺️

This is Very inspiring, I spent years being an EMT and Law Enforcement, I am a single mom at 35 no help, family or husband trying to give my kids a better life: I hope I can apply to nursing school I am in the program for EKG and Phlebotomy

I have one little one but my nearest college that offers a nursing programme is about an hour and a half away (no online options here in Ireland) and we have only one car in our family. I’m 39.

Please try to still squeeze in some Self care. Nursing school can be emotionally, mentally and physically draining. When you have kids being a mom never ends.

Hey!!! Congrats! I remember being so scared myself. I think being a mom makes you have supernatural powers or something bc while it has been challenging I have adapted and it’s going well. That’s actually a happy planner you can get them at target, Walmart, or Michaels. I love it bc instead of buying a new planner each year I can just buy the inserts.
Happy I came across your video I am 26 with 2 kids and one on the way, I have a fiancé too. I am looking to getting into school and making things happen after I have the babu the only issue for me is the time for the new baby I am thinking I will wait for them to turn one, and my and my partner will switch balance out our roles by both going part time, so I have more support. It’s a thought right now, but I want to get prequisites done and study for the HESI entrance as I wait during this current time

I want to go to nursing school so bad but I’m 40 and I still have PTSD of failing my science classes back when I was 20 in college. I was great in math (I minored in it) but it seems like nursing school is all science and biochemistry and microbiology were so hard for me 😢😫
