I was surprised when I disassembled a customers NuTone LB55 Door Chime for repair.
This LB55 was from 1992 and it has a completely different circuit board when compared to an early 1980's LB55.
I show some of the differences between the 2 PCB's. It's surprising how much more modern the 1990's design is when compared to the original design which dates from the mid 1970's
The redesign of the circuit board was probably driven from the discontinuation of the Intel 8021 and 8022 Microprocessor.

My grandma has the LB 55 and it no longer programs chimes. I was hoping to show off to my son but it stays with one tune.

HI Michael: You could try disconnecting the Power from the Chime for a few minutes - If that doesn't work, the Keypad may be worn to the point that you can't change the Tunes any longer - Chris

Im from Montréal, Canada, i have the 1980 version of the LBC-55 and i cant set the time. I press program, then i press the numbers of the time and i press SET TIME. The problem is when i try to press SET TIME after i enter the numbers of the time, the time doesn’t change. Overall the clock looks in good condition, the sound quality is very good and i have no problem to set the doorbell. What should i do with the clock, do you think that something is broken inside the clock? If so how can i get it fixed?

Hi B . Jenn Laplante: There could be many different things wrong - First, your Chime is over 40 years old - which means it has over 350,000 hours of time on it. . . It may be in need of its first rebuild. It is unlikely that the "clock" is the problem - it would be more likely that the keypad has worn buttons and the "set time" button isn't responding as it should. I have also seen LBC55's that have problems with the cable of wires that connect the display board to the main board. Hi Cam: First - You Should Disconnect Power From The Chime RIGHT-NOW!! Every minute it's buzzing - it's damaging the Microprocessor and it it fails - The Chime will be Dead and NEVER work again - Sorry for shouting - but this is important. You can contact me about repairing your LB55 Door Chime - Chris 925-743-8236
