First off, I wanna give a shoutout to @theericfreeze1493 for telling me all about and recommending this sighting to me whilst I was on my trip here in Frankenmuth. I probably wouldn't have honestly known about these if it wasn't for him pointing this spot out, as I don't event think I've ever heard of a Drury Inn having ceiling fans at all, much less one as cool as these!
Second, I want to apologize for my smoker-sounding voice in the video lmao. I was still struggling with getting over a cold, so that is why I don't sound so great....
Finally, as obvious in the video and by everything already said above, these are two NuTone Verandah II (I believe SelecTouch) off to the side in a little nook in the breakfast area at the Frankenmuth MI Drury Inn. As you can see in the video, I tried to demonstrate them using the controls they had, only to find out they did nothing. I was really confused at first, but after posting about these fans on Facebook, someone explained something to me that should've been obvious. From looking at the fans, you can tell there don't appear to be any pull chains on them, which means they were/are likely SelecTouch. For those who don't know, SelecTouch was a feature NuTone ceiling fans had for a period of time that was very similar to InteliTouch on Casablancas, though I don't think it really caught on anywhere near of the same extent. Anyways, it is likely that the SelecTouch failed at some point on both of these fans somehow, and they thought that replacing the controls with ones shown in the video would fix the problem, only to find out that obviously those controls are incompatible. I'm guessing that's gotta be the most likely theory, and I'm surprised I didn't think of this sooner, as only the other month I saw a working SelecTouch NuTone Verandah II in-person at a fan collector's house, where I was introduced to the whole concept.
I'm also wondering if there were other Drury Inns that had/have these fans or fans like these installed in the breakfast nook. When Eric first showed me pics of these, I immediately assumed this had to have been another hotel. However, while the design is definitely more extravagant (that typical classic German theme throughout most of Frankenmuth) than any other older Drury I've been to, the actual layout was VERY similar to multiple other Drury hotels I've been to, so that makes me think this was always a Drury, and the fans were installed when the hotel was built & opened. If any of you know of any other Drury Inns or other hotels that were likely formally Drury Inns with a similar install to this, feel free to let me know in the comments. Anyways, hope you enjoy, and don't forget to subscribe for more!
