Welcome back y'all! Crazy excited to have a full unboxing and review of the Nutrimill Harvest Grain Mill. This is a stone grind electric grain mill which is completely different than my Wondermill Electric Grain Mill!
In this video, I am going to share with you my initial thoughts as I unbox the Nutrimill Harvest and try it out then let you know the pros and cons after 2 weeks of exclusively using this grain mill. I also will be comparing this to my Wondermill Electric Grain Mill impact mill that I have been using for the past decade.
Remember, for Fall 2021 they do have LIMITED EDITION colors so be sure to get yours before they sell out!

This is the mill I moved to after a few years of using the Kitchen Aid attachment. This is 1000% improvement. I can get the flour so fine it's nearly identical to store bought...except more nutritious. Best purchase ever! I was at a windmill grain mill and saw those gigantic stones they use so when I saw the stones in this mill, I was excited. I can make flour so fine with this mill it's suitable for pastries. Also, the speed at which you can go through the berries is wonderful. In less than 2 minutes I can mill almost 1,000 grams of flour. There is a issue with flour dust but I solved that by placing a tea towel over the spout and the bowl so we don't get dust everywhere.

Yes, the Mockmill has a cover and I can use it while grinding my grains which makes it slightly quieter. I like that. The Mockmill has numbers to tell you the coarseness and with both written (in the pamphlet) and video instructions (online) to show you how. It was easy. Also, the coarse/fine adjustment is a lever on the side and the entire bin is available for grain which means it hold a LOT of grain.

Thank you for this. I have a Mockmill 100 (as you know, it's also a stone mill. As you may know, it, too, empties into a bowl. I LOVE it. I'd like to get another mill and Mockmill is currently out of stock everywhere, so maybe this will be it. You can't do anything that will have oil in it but if there's a problem with something coating the stone, I can take it apart and clean the stones (according to their directions) - which is nice. BUT having taken my Mockmill apart once this Nurimill appears much easier to take apart. That's nice. AND I didn't get any kind of brush...which I don't really 'need' but would be nice to have one solely for my mill. My Mockmill sounds very similar to this one. I'm impressed by this one, so far. I LOVE my bread using this and my Zojirushi bread maker. Amazing, light - yes, light - bread and so delicious.

I ordered this mill Saturday and it's scheduled for delivery tomorrow or Friday. That being said, this video showing up in my feed was fortuitous. I'm anxious to start the process. I'm completely new to the whole grain thing so I can learn without having to relearn. I ordered wheat berries and they are scheduled for delivery Friday so everything will be here in time for the weekend. Hopefully, I can get my family involved in eating healthy grains made at home. I hope you do a video on grinding grits with this mill. That's not something I can get where I live but really came to appreciate when I lived in NC. Suggestion.. on adjusting to finer grind. The grains that are in the hopper, are preventing you from turning the dial. Dump out the wheat into something. Tap the mill to remove any grains. Now, turn it to fine grind. Now add back the grains.

I would also add a caution for those searching for wheat berries . . . do NOT use seed wheat! It has often been harvested with chemicals, and then treated with chemicals to prevent insects, and you do not want those chemicals in your food!
@terrijuanette486
@terrijuanette486 Год назад
Who told you that grain is harvested with chemicals? I grew up on a farm. We grew wheat every single year as did all the farmers around us. Here are a few things you may not know: 1) All wheat berries are 'seed wheat' unless irradiated (which destroys the wheat's ability to germinate) or sprouted and dried (it cannot germinate twice). 2) No one that I know of uses chemicals to harvest. I've never heard of such a thing and I would've since I grew up on a farm and my father grew wheat as did all the farmers around us. Chemical use would be way too expensive and unnecessary. Wheat is easily removed from the stalk simply by rubbing it between your hands. Harvesting is done via a combine which **mechanically** separates the grain from the stalk. It does not use chemicals. Chemicals touching the grain when harvesting would affect the moisture content of the wheat which is tested when delivered it to the coop to get paid for the grain. The truck is weighed full and then empty and a sample of the wheat is gathered from the truck after it is weighed in a special tube and is tested while the farmer is dumping the wheat. The weight of the grain and the moisture both make a difference in what the farmer is paid. If the grain has too much moisture it will mold in storage more easily so, the price of the grain is negatively affected by additional moisture. That said, there are some food stuffs, like Almonds, that are 'pasteurized' with chemicals - actually a type of gasoline in gaseous form. Not all almonds are done this way but many are including the brand Costco uses. (So there is that.) Hope this helps!

Hello! My aunt and uncle are looking into getting a mill. This one looks great but it concerns me that the flour isn't that fine with it. Will it make the nice light and fluffy bread or is it too corse of grains? My whisper mill makes very fine wonderful flour. But the kitchen aid mill I had to run the wheat through twice in order to get it fine enough. So is this nutrimill similar to the kitchen aid in that it needs to be milled twice?
@GrainsandGrit
@GrainsandGrit 2 года назад
I use this on a near daily basis. I also have the Wondermill (same as Whispermill) so I can definitely compare. I can get fine flour sending the wheat berries through the first time just like my Wondermill HOWEVER you do need to adjust it to make it that way. But good news, you can adjust the stones while it’s grinding to find the consistency you want. My bread hasn’t changed at all switching mills. I can still get fluffy soft bread 😄

Lily's white flour for those of us who cannot afford a mill right now is a great choice. In honor of that company's effort to help us I thought a nice name for your nutrimill would be Lily.

@GrainsandGrit 2 года назад
I have used this for bread and cookies and the flour is perfectly fine for those. I do think the Wondermill impact mill makes slightly finer flour but not by much. This will still make flour fine enough for your needs! I have also realized that certain flour just mills finer than others (for example, soft white wheat mills finer than hard red wheat).

@@micahlantz905 When you first turn on the mill it is VERY quiet. But it does get loud when you start to mill although I would say it is slightly quieter than an impact mill. It is not as high pitch of a sound as the impact mill is. As far as speed, it is faster than a KA attachment, but not as fast as my impact mill. Still a good speed and I can have all the flour for 3 large 2lbs of bread milled in about 2-3 minutes. :-) Maybe less - i have never timed it.
