So apparently there are a LOT of more unknown and obscure drinks that are more popular in certain areas and among certain people. So if you feel any of these should get a bit of a spotlight, leave them here. If y'all can come up with enough maybe this list will need a part 2!
First that came to mind was bone broth and lemon/apple cider vinegar water. Edit: also infusions/herbal teas such as hibiscus, rooibos, cammomile, ginger, peppermint, sage, etc. I drink them daily but as far as I know they are just methods for sugarlessly making water not taste like water.
The problem with tea (and probably the problem with a lot of these beverage categories: coffee, beer, wine, soda, etc) is that there is a wide variety of variables. Tea has 5 major categories of processing: white, green, yellow, oolong, and puerh. Even among green teas there is a big difference between sencha and longjing. Then there’s the difference between loose leaf or tea bags. If you prepare green tea loose leaf gongfu style, it has more caffeine on average than black tea, yet in tea bags the opposite is true. I think this makes it hard to compare aside from broad strokes.
This guy HAS to do a bread tier list lol. I'd love to know what breads (rye, wheat, sourdough, etc.) or rice (jasmine, sushi, basmati, etc.) rank among
When I was a kid, I thought that coffee was the adult beverage. As I got older and started drinking coffee in my teens, I discovered that actually, alcoholic drinks are the adult beverages, and couldn't wait to start drinking alcohol. Now I am an adult and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt... Water... Water is the adult drink. Drink more water.
wait till ur an older adult.. then you'll find out that whatever has the most caffeine and also dont upset ur delicate stomach too much is the adult drink.
I was inspired by the top comment and wrote a song based on it: When I was a young lad, I drank water and juice. one tasty, one bland but they had the same use, for they both quenched my thirst, but the water seemed worst. It was stale, tasteless and dull, and ironically dry, and when I went without juice I thought I would die. Then as I got older, my tastes shifted anew, for strong tasting coffee, a sun-rising brew. It stired sleep from eyes as I stired my cream in, such a blessed life giver, each morning a win. All working men drank it, I'd be just like them, little did I know of that one adult jem. It's called alcohol and once I did find, a bottle of hard stuff, I left roast beans behind. Every day after work I'd hit up the bar, and 4 hours later, drive home in my car. So now that I'm grown, it's all become clear, sobriety rules, I've tossed (most of) my beers. The beverage that triumphs, best drink of all time don't jail me for saying, it isn't a crime. IT'S WATER, WATER, straight from the source! Nothing as quite as hydrating of course. Beyond the shadow of doubt don't you think, is water, water the most adult drink.
Milk is good for protein but i stopped drinking it because it messed with my skin I think because of the hormones milk contains nowadays but not an expert
Well put. These are deceptively effective videos. They pack a lot of info in an easy-to-understand format and ultimately leaves you with just what you really need to know-what’s good and what isn’t.
The absolute biggest red flag in an adult is saying “I don’t like the taste of water”. It’s so incredibly harmful to have disdain for the single most important thing (other than air) to put in your body. It’s a big marker that you aren’t very active as well, because anyone who works out will tell you that water can taste like the tears of angels if you are thirsty enough.
It can also just be likely that the person is in a certain area where the “hardness” of the water is higher, plumbing is done differently or the person has very sensitive tastebuds. For instance me, below London. It’s strange to have such a specific red flag and to care to this extent imo
I quit drinking soda for about a month, going on a month and a half of nothing but water and the very rare treat of fruit juice. The difference in my body has been immense.
@@burrito1413 You joke (and I laughed) but I went from drinking four cans of soda EVERY DAY to drinking nothing but water and I've been losing tons of weight. Not just that, but I feel great.
@@PinkManGuy Good job dude! I drink water and have been consistently throughout the past few years, though I once a week or two have one can of soda as a treat. It's a good balance! Though I do plan on replacing that too with some fruit juice's after seeing this ;D
Water has so many benefits thanks to its non-existent nutritional value. You cannot over-expose yourself to any vitamins, no matter how much you drink. It hydrates your mouth, promoting clean teeth, gums, and tongue. It can be consumed during any kind of fast with the only exception being fasts that specifically single water out. It can be sipped between bites during a meal to help stem appetite issues and overeating. I could go on and on. It's legendary. Definitely deserves S tier.
I really like this list and it's very informative. Just wanted to mention something I just learned as I was diagnosed with iron deficency recently. Tannin containing drinks such as coffee, tea, etc can inhibit your body's ability to absorb iron from food by up to 70%. You can avoid this by not drinking these drinks an hour before or after meals. They do not cause iron deficency but can contribute to it and also sloww the healing process.
I definitely think with the increased popularity of plant-based milks (soy, almond, oat, cashew, etc...) that would be worth talking about with the same "added sugar" caveats.
I don't how other people think of it but when I buy plant milk it's definitely always unsweetened even though I'm not generally very health conscious. Doesn't really feel like milk to me anymore if it has added sugar and flavoring. At least without the added sugar plant based options are no doubt better than regular milk
@@qBeYcarpet It's so annoying at the grocery store too. There will be like 25 different flavoured, sweetened versions, taking up like 98% of the fridge and like one row of unsweetened soy/oat/almond. Sometimes my precious unsweetened soy milk is sold out and I have to settle for oat or ... protein-less almond milk ;(
@@qBeYcarpet When I was vegan, I generally only bought unsweetened soy milk for my coffee and cooking. All the other plant milks are pleasure drinks, imo, and to be fair, very good ones. I still prefer wheat milk to this day, over real milk, but I'm not gonna pretend it's healthy. Though, it was fun to experiment, I for example used rice milk for desserts mainly, cause I thought the sweetness to it was perfect for desserts.
@@Hooberschmit1 yeah, I guess they are popular with many people. I haven't actually even tasted the sweetened and flavored ones cause I just go for juice much rather :D
I literally gasped seeing this uploaded. I adore these tier lists. I’ve been eating so many more fruits, vegetables, and nuts since I’ve seen the first ones! So nutritious.
@@louievelwest7164 bro drink water doesn’t matter if you eat your water as in fruit. Fruit is way more hydrating than water but if you are going to drink water get water with electrolytes like spring water and alkaline water.
@@grannde_ "bro" MANY doctors and nutritionists suggest drinking half your body weight (in pounds) in ounces of water per day. So if you weigh 150lbs, you should drink 75 ounces of water per day. If you weigh 200lbs, you should drink 100 ounces of water per day. Water contained in juices, soda, alcoholic beverages, coffee, foods, etc should not be counted towards your water intake. In fact, if you're drinking soda, alcoholic beverages, or coffee, then you should actually be drinking even more water. Water is the absolute most vital thing for your health and life, beyond oxygen. Water filters toxins and contaminants out of your body. If your pee isn't clear, then you need to drink more water. Yellow pee means you're dehydrated. Your pee SHOULD be clear. It is highly stressed by trainers of professional athletes, and superiors in the military, that their people should only pee clear, and if it's yellow, they need to drink more water to be healthy and perform their best. If you're chugging a bunch of water at once, you're dehydrated. You shouldn't be chugging water. You should be consistently sipping on water all day long. Also on a side note, I'm shocked that he placed coffee in the A Tier. It's widely known that coffee is quite bad for you. It likely belongs in the D Tier. It's not only a diuretic, aka it dehydrates you, but it's also quite acidic and consistent drinking of coffee really throws off the balance of your body and makes your body more acidic, which isn't good for your long term health. Measuring the pH of your pee with pH paper is actually a really good way of determining your health. Many health nuts I know, including myself, have completely quit drinking coffee and now drink green tea instead. Coffee is awful for you. Perhaps not as bad as soda and energy drinks, but it's ONE of the worst things you can drink. Wine should actually be in the C Tier above coffee, bc its great at reducing stress (one of the #1 killers) as well as it has high amounts of antioxidants. Fun fact: one of the oldest people to ever live (a lady in China) was once asked what her habits are and secrets to a long and healthy life. I forget her exact age when she died, but she was WELL over 100. Around 110 if not pushing 120 years. She said "i eat lots of fruits and vegetables. Chicken is my number one source of protein. I drink 1-3 cups of green tea per day. I drink 1 glass of red wine every night. And I drink large amounts of water everyday. And even at my age, I still make sure to walk at least a few kilometers everyday. And mind games and exercises everyday too."
We see a lot of videos about what we should eat, but somehow these videos have prompted me way more than others to pay more attention to what I buy and eat.
I'd l love to see a tier list on spices and condiments (peppers, cinnamon, saffron, curry, etc.), and another one on herbs used for cooking/favoring (mint, parsley, basil, tender grass, etc.). People who care for their health trend to used a lot of those I think, and I know they have very rich nutrition benefits, so seeing those tier lists would be lovely.
the issue with fruit juices is that they condense the sugar from multiple fruits into one glass, and have none of the fibre. If youve ever squeezed your own apple juice you know, it takes like 4 to get a glass of the stuff.
Just wanted to thank you for researching and compiling these videos. You're one of the few people using social media to better the world, something very few other content creators can say.
As someone who works in a coffee shop, it’s INCREDIBLE just how people literally drink sugar. My drinks are so incredibly simple, literally just a latte in espresso and oatmilk, more or less because if I’m drinking espresso I actually want to taste the espresso and not added sugars
I’ve worked in coffee shops all over the place. It’s interesting how in poor areas people put WAY more sugar in their drinks than in wealthier areas. The difference is both too great and too consistent to be a coincidence.
Alright alright but you can’t tell me that actually tastes good, good for you for caring for your health but don’t pretend it tastes any good without any sugar
These ratings of various food groups are fantastic. All of us have widely various diets. These ratings give us a bird's eye view of the health and nutritional values of most, and thus allows us to prioritize better the foods we eat, eating a little more of the more healthier ones, and a little less of the not so healthy or nutritious ones. Thank you for your time and effort in putting this lists and ratings together... they are a good way to start the New Year off right... eating more healthy! A TU SALUD!
I think an alcoholic drink tier list would be a fun video. Obviously, they're all extremely low tier in the grand scheme, but against each other would be interesting. Just an idea.
Talon Fitness, I have some video ideas for you, regarding nutrition lists: 1.) Berries 2.) Mushrooms 3.) Eggs (quail, duck, chicken, pasture raised vs. free range, etc.) 4.) Poultry (same deal as eggs) 5.) Leafy Green Veggies and Microgreens, plus Sea Vegetables 6.) Tropical Fruits 7.) Oils 8.) Root Vegetables 9.) Odd/Game Meats (Turtle, Frog, Alligator, Rattlesnake, Raccoon, Squirrel, Duck, Mutton, Rabbit, Pheasant, Quail, Grouse, Venison, Bison, Elk, Caribou, Bear, Antelope, etc.) 10.) Less familiar grains (not on this list) 11.) Less familiar herbs/spices 12.) Fermented foods I think the best ideas here are #’s 1, 2, 3 (combine with 4), 5, 7, 8, and 12. Maybe 9 too, but I think you’ve done something like this already… Doing junk food, fast food, candy, chocolate, etc., as well as a nutrition list regarding fattier American foods like pepperoni pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs, chili, Mac and cheese, spaghetti with meatballs, canned ravioli, sloppy joes, pulled pork sandwiches, etc., would be interesting… One more idea: A comparison of breakfast cereals. 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁 Also a comparison of sauces, and condiments. Last idea, I promise: SOUPS. 😁😁
Diet soda in F tier is a hot take. I’d put it in C for anyone who tracks their macros and knows not to compensate by eating worse. It’s such a helpful soda alternative, and any evidence that has linked artificial sweeteners to health issues has done so on the basis of studies on mice using incredibly high dosages. This equates to drinking gallons of diet soda per day. Alcohol is far more carcinogenic and people don’t freak out about that.
In a country where everyone is obese, diet soda clears regular soda in my opinion. I have, when I was overweight, used diet soda to lose weight and it literally made it a cakewalk, and I know of many others with the same experience. Fulfilled my desires, wide variety of options, and no calories. Here's the thing when it comes to overall health, I have to provide the counterpoints: 1) Artificial sweeteners may affect cravings so people eat more to compensate (usually what they eat would be more calories than a regular soda by my personal estimation). 2) May affect our gut microbiome negatively, which leads to a slew of problems that all feed into potential weight gain (also mental health probably more important than weight but obviously there is a feedback look between them). 3) Some research points to the "reward hypothesis," where your brain might seek out extra calories after consuming something sweet but non-caloric. Like you said, it's good for those of us who are educated and have enough discipline to not accompany it with other junk food. In my opinion for a lot of people it can even be up to an A tier drink in terms of potential (let's say its really the only thing thats easily accessible that helps them lose weight). On average though I think C tier is fair. Really, I can't see the argument for it being the same as regular soda.
Considering the amount of plant based milks coming up, I think it would be really good to make a milk/mylk tier list video outling all the major milks/mylks on the market.
What ive learned from these videos is this: best diet for health (not necessarily weight loss) is VARIETY! Get many different grains, get many different fruits, try different non calorie drinks (herbal teas were not on here. Wonder if they have any benefit beyond being flavored water). Etc! Love these.
That's why a lot of nutritionist tell you to eat like a rainbow, get all the colors in your diet! Depends on the tea, a lot of herbal teas have great benefits, chamomile or mint tea are true A tier drinks IMO.
I was interested on your take of coffee and tea's, so thanks for that. Wish you did Kombucha because I hear mixed reviews for that with some people saying it may actually have negative effects and that not all probiotics are amazing. For me hydration means a gallon+ of water a day, and if I drink anything else it's the infrequent tea or coffee, never anything with sugar.
i LOVE kombucha. i don’t drink it super often bc it’s expensive and i don’t have the funds so it’s a once-in-a-while treat. it fills the soda-shaped void in my life.
@@furlizard You can actually die from drinking contaminated kombucha, which is much more likely to happen at home (you need to be very unlucky, but there are documented cases of death after drinking kombucha)
Thank you for taking the time to make these lists. They are very helpful. 😊 Here are some suggestions for future videos: ♡ legumes (peas and beans); ♡ edible seeds, excluding nuts (pumpkin seeds, chia, linseed, Sunflower seeds, etc); ♡ root veggies ( different types of potatoes, yams, casava, eddoes, dasheen, carrots, beets, radishes, etc); ♡ herbs and spices (focusing on health benefits vs side effects and over use); ♡ unprocessed grains (rye, barley, wheat, types of corn, quinoa, oats, etc); ♡ processed grain foods (popcorn, chips, pita, nan, roti, breads, oat meal, pastas, cakes and pantries, etc); ♡ flours (white flour, whole wheat, whole grain, multigrain, sweet potato flour, split pea flour, chickpea flour, lentil flour, corn flour, breadfruit flour, almond flour, tapioca flour, etc); ♡ processed snacks (dried fruits, beef jerk, trail mix, granola, baby carrots, Celery sticks (with and without ranch, blue cheese or nut butters), potatoes chips, pita chips, tortilla chips; plantain chips, cassava chips, pretzels, fruit cocktail cups, jello cups, pudding cups, chocolates (white, milk and dark), corn based puffs, etc), gummies (both with and added without vitamins). You don't have to show full nutritional information for all of the snacks, just the general information about how they affect people's health over time and harmful chemicals that can be found in them like high sugar/salt/fat content, additives and food dyes. Even if you don't make all of theses into videos, thank you for reading this list and considering some of them as options for future videos! ❤
Well I've already done several of these. And plan on doing tier lists until I literally run out of foods that you could reasonably find. So we'll get there eventually 😂
8:18 coffee is good, but why don't you mention it's drawbacks, when they don't drink (a guy that drinks coffee everyday) , when they stop drinking they get headache, hard to escape that.
I've been following this channel since the first upload, I'm so happy with how it has grown over time. Thank you for putting all this information out there!
@Talon Fitness That's right :) I love learning about nutrition, though that's not really my field (I'm an engineer.) I enjoy "optimizing" my diet, and these videos make it easy to quickly get a list of nutritional information for certain foods. I wonder what kind of lists your going to make in the future, always looking forward to your videos!
@@Talon_Fitness yup, I know you uploaded more content than just tier lists but maybe the algorithm doesnt favor them? (no offense, your filming quality could be improved)
3:58-Yea,the thing about moderate drinkers being statistically healthier than no drinkers isn't because moderate drinking us beneficial, but because the "no drinkers" from the research were people with health ALREADY ruined by alcohool who stopped drinking in the past!
I'm surprised on your placement of diet soda. Mike Israetel, Layne Norton, and many others usually praise it for helping with weight loss and note all the scares of artificial sweeteners are from all the animal studies where they're given 100x the amount of it in an average diet soda and look to human trials where no impact can be seen with the addition of artificial sweeteners.
Agreed. And the correlation with obesity could also be a chicken and egg case. Does diet soda indeed increase hunger and therefore obesity rates, or do the obese tend to drink more diet soda as an attempt to lose weight?
I think you did dirty to diet soda. There are no randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled studies that indicate negative side effects of diet soda. Indeed, there are a LOT of actual randomized controlled studies and metaanalysees indicating that switching from regular soda to diet promotes weight loss and health benefits. Additionally, artificial sweeteners are quite researched and I think it is not a valid argument against them is that they are "artificial". For someone who is overweight and switches to diet soda from regular, can be a game changer in terms of health benefits. And most of the population is overweight in the first world to begin with, therefore a LOT of people can benefit from this switch. I am not saying that it is actually healthy on its own, but I think it is rather a neutral option that doesn't belong to the same tier as beer, energy drink or regular soda...
In fact these videos are not 100% scientific. For example he differentiate from "natural sugars" and "added sugars" which doesn't make any sense. The actual "bad" sugar is the "free sugar" and you also obtain that by fruit juices, because once you centrifuge, blend etc the fruit, you free all the sugars that were "encapsulated" inside the fibers, carbs etc that made them less harmless. Another example is he putting beer in D tear, when alcohol is a 100% carcinogenic. Sugar is bad, but it alcohol is extremely worse. You can eat some grams of free sugars daily and be healthy, while even a molecule of alcohol will increase your cancer risk. Anyway, about your comment, are you sure majority of people in the world are overweight/obese? Asia and Africa should have quite a low obesity porblem and they already cover 3-4 mld, maybe even more?
Putting alcoholic beverages above diet soda destroys your credibility. There is no proven causality between diet sodas and adverse health outcomes. However, alcohol is one of the most well established killers in the entire world, with a myriad of negative effects on cardiovascular health, liver health, neurotoxicity, etc. I agree with most of the other placements.
@@joakimdavidsen9835 but there are alcoholic beverages that have benefits, like wine, which contains antioxidants that benefit the heart and blood circulation. it’s proven that drinking wine in moderation can help prevent heart problems etc
@@harshenvy It also increases the risk of various cancers, liver damage, stroke and pancreatitis. Its negatives far outweigh its positives, which is why no health organizations recommend the consumption of any amount of it.
I absolutely adore your videos. They are so informative. Incredibly simple and laid out in a way that makes so much sense. I’m excited to see what your next video is going to be.
Please do mushrooms/fungi next. I realize they will require more research as they aren't totally loaded with nutrients. But they have chemical extracts that can really help you in various ways. From Portobello, and mainstream food mushrooms to health giants like lion's mane, cordyceps, turkey tail, shitake, etc. Maybe even add magic mushrooms into it and explain how it could help in smaller doses to help overcome trauma, depression and anxiety.
@@Donari Hello! Maybe you can help me! I've always wanted to know what it's like to live such a clueless life. Do you ever realize your ignorance or do you have an overwhelming sense of self-righteousness and intelligence at all times?
@@lucianograff6512 I don't see how. The guy makes videos talking about the nutritional AND health benefits of certain foods. Just because magic mushrooms alter your state of mind a bit(especially in higher doses) doesn't mean they don't have health benefits.
@@spacemanspiff6332 Honestly I imagine if Talon were to weigh in on it, he'd say he's not a psychiatrist, and the body of research probably isn't good enough for a layman to parse.
In regards to alcohol and its alleged health benefits, virtually every major health organization stresses that people who do not drink alcohol should not start drinking alcohol.
there is a reverse causality issue in the case of diet soda drinkers being fat. people aren't fat because they drink diet sodas, they drink diet sodas because they're fat. afaik there are no real correlations between artificial sweeteners and obesity
Scrolled too much for this comment. The bias in this video is unfathomable (and you can apply the same thing in his other videos). Another unsicentific take is he distinguishing between "natural sugars" and "added sugars" which doesn't make any sense. What you need to look out for is "free sugars" and if you make a fruit juice, almost all the sugars of the fruit become "free".
Alcohol is an order of magnitude more carcinogenic than artificial sweeteners with overwhelming scientific evidence to back it up. It's also very easy to develop an alcohol addiction and its consequences are one of the leading causes of death in almost all countries. Alcohol is an actual poison that will straight up kill you if you drink too much of it. Yet this guy ranks it above artificial sweeteners which are inert in any quantity that you can practically consume. Alcoholism is one of the worst and most wide spread diseases in our society. This guy really lost his credibility with this one.
When he didn't put milk in S teir i was wondering what else could possibly be S teir, and was water going to be covered. (I double checked the title to see if it said "drinks" or "beverages" because by definition water isn't a beverage) Not surprised that water is king, its also the only drink that can be calorie negative. (By the thermal loss to warm it up to bidy temp but thats atmost 7 kcals per glass, barely anything by food standards)
@@futurebreedmachine9302 nope, milk protein, beef protein and egg protein (yes all of those exist although not as popular) are also all top tier. Soy protein however belongs in the trash
If you drink the fruit juice in the context of a meal (fat, protein, other micronutrients), as opposed to a snack you compulsively gorge on, then you have nothing to worry about.
I have one thing to say about Coffee. In my personal experience, if you drink it every day for years, the anxiety can be something huge that most people don´t associate with coffee, the same goes to sleep patterns. I have big issues with both of this things and leaving coffee help me alot (80% of the problem gradually dissapear when i left coffee), but is hard to leave coffee, the first 2 weeks i have low energy and headaches, but after the first month you will feel better. (a pro tip to leave coffee is slowly drink less times and less quantity, also you can slowly replace it with green tea because it has caffeine to) If you want drink it, but try to not become an addict like myself and don´t drink everyday like a habit.
'something huge that most people don't associate with coffee' this is the biggest thing about coffee: people don't realize the negative effects of it, even if they have it it's just like protein bars where people don't realize the harm it does because they don't immediately feel it or they associate the product with health benefits
I thought coffee was to blame for my anxiety, and it's certainly not good drinking it late, but honestly I have crippling anxiety still, weeks after not drinking it. I just feel tired all the time
Coffee is so bad for you it's ridiculous how it is in the same tier as milk. Coffee: - Diuretic - Contains addictive substance makes your body produce stress hormones giving them a sense of "energy" - Contains chlorogenic acid that can damage gut lining and cause ulcers
Well I can tell you that this list was made with the intention of all these other drinks should be drank in moderation. Something I thought I made clear in my conclusion, but my stats show that no one ever watches the conclusions soooo But for all the people saying milk or coffee or tea should have been in the top tier with water. I'm sorry thats just stupid. That was a very conscious decision. The way I see it, you can live off of just water and get all your nutrients from food. And if you were to say, I'm going to replace one of my glasses of water with another drink, an A tier drink I would say go for it! And an F tier drink I would say thats a terrible idea. And everything in between. Context is very important
Adding juice of a Lemon or Lime and adding the grated bits of the peel with water and a few ice cubes is so refreshing and has many plus benefits for the body and mind !!! That would be in the Top Tier !!!
Just want to thank you for these tier lists. These are a rare bread based on facts and minimal opinion. Started focusing on my nutrition/diet a few months ago to get more out of relatively new casual bodybuilding hobby and these have been very helpful in adding/adjusting my overall diet. Edit: Also as I neared the end of the video I was like, man will this be the first thing without an S tier. Then I was like, oh right, we have not done water, that's def the top xD
I love that the only s tier drink is water. Love the content man, please keep the videos coming out. Keep up the good work, it’s definitely appreciated. Cheers from Chicago 👍🏻
When you're a kid, you think soda/juice is the best drink. When you're a teen/young adult, you think beer is the best drink. When you are middle-aged, you think coffee/tea is the best drink, When you're even older, you finally realize that water was the best drink all along.
I'd like to see a video on spices and seasonings. There's a lot I don't know about them and often find myself wondering if they have any relevance outside of taste.
Another good, informative video. Thanks. I think it's improtant for people to realise, though, that juice made yourself from the fruit can be a lot different to the juice bought at the supermarket in a carton or bottle due to how the juice is processed, etc. Other drinks worth consideration are: kefir drink, yoghurt drink, kombucha, goats milk, herbal drinks, e.g. camomile, peppermint, etc., milk tea (hot tea with milk), latte / milk coffee, sparkling mineral water, maybe a few more alcoholic drinks with no mixers, e.g. Baileys, whisky. Anyway, love your videos!
I think an amazing idea for a future video would be oils/fats. Could be great having a resource on what is the best and what is the worst between things like butter, olive oil, avocado, avocado oil, sesame oil, etc.
@@Aiel-Necromancer sprites just like sodas go automatically in f tier, you should try to get used to plain water with meal, after 1-2 weeks your body won't crave for a sweet drink after meal

Also, during those hours coffee can massively mess with your uptake of some medication. I have some medication that is recommended taken an hour before drinking any coffee during a day.
Cocoa is good. And even chocolate has some of that goodness, which I will cover... eventually. But Hot Cocoa, 99% of the time is significantly overshadowed by the sugar and what you mix it in. I do like being called out about this stuff when I could be more thorough though. More power to yall ☺️
The one thing that I would say is regarding beer. You want to drink a "real beer" only, not the commercial big brand junk full of corn and/or rice adjuncts, which have a lot more sugar. A good German or Czech beer made only of water, malt hops and yeast is the way to go.
For people looking to not drink their calories and want something different than water, try drinking seltzer, most are 0 cal and only have a little natural flavoring in it other than water. Strongly recommend the Polar Lime flavor to mix up your day and the fizz helped me kick soda completely out of my diet.
The diet soda and obesity thing is not that simple tbh. Cos if u think logically who’s more likely to drink it, the skinny guy who can’t gain weight or the fat guy who can’t lose it. And when you conduct the study, boom, diet soda links to obesity.
yea that was interesting, to me it seems obvious that diet soda drinkers are more likely to be obese because they are weaning off regular soda, it’s like saying people use nicotine patches or nicotine free products are likely to have negative health benefits… well of course they are trying to get off something worse lol
Milk also contains several unique and essential micros: blood and antibiotics from the mother. It's unique because it's made for their babies! No wonder we have so much intolerance...
Very good video as always Talon. You could have mentioned Matcha Tea when talking about Green Tea, since with Matcha you actually consume the green tea leaves with water or milk. It's basically boosted green tea, can contain double the amount of caffeine and other nutrients and is also very delicious :) Would you have put it in the S tier?
S-tier if you are careful with your purchases. Heavy metals are an issue with tea leaves. Normal steeping is a minimal risk, while consuming the tea does present some risks. Making sure you buy regulated Japanese grown matcha green tea, with available heavy metal and radiation testing is important.
You wouldn't eat 5 oranges in one sitting because they have too much sugar in them, but that's exactly what you have in a single glass of EU-labelled "juice".
@@UnmenschgebliebenerMann67 That doesn't change the fact that (acc. to the data in this list) orange juice has about as much sugar in it as: sugary soda, sweetened hot cocoa, sweetened tea, lemonade. all of which are in F and D tiers. Also from what I've seen people tend to drink large volumes of orange juice, and small volumes of energy drinks. Energy drinks in this list is between as much sugar as orange juice, to double the sugar as orange juice. But if you'd compare the volumes people actually consume rather than an arbitrary portion you can easily get as much as, if not more, sugar in a single sitting of orange juice. But Brussels says it's healthy, and TUV says it's naturilch, so I guess that's good enough.
15:20 I think it is important to mention that cow milk also contains a variety of hormones and residue of medicine which has a negative impact on human health such as glucocorticoids, testosterone, oestrogen and progesterone. These steroids are a risk factor for cancer development and should not be underestimated. Well he did say replace sugars with artificial flavors opens another can of worms but since he didn't go into the details we can't confirm F tier for those 0 sugar choices.
I’d love to see the Tea tier list!!! There’s so many kinds of tea like green tea, matcha, oolong, jasmine, camomile, kombucha, rooibos, chai, white tea, Hoji tea and more… I wonder which ones are more and less nutritious!
1:05 "Even drinks with sugar in them are not inherently bad. Especially when they come from fruits and vegetable juices, which are basically just liquid fruits and vegetables." Fructose is inherently bad for you. All juiced fruits are bad. Stripping away the fibres from fruits and vegetables makes them unhealthy and contributes to metabolic syndrome. Any calorie that raises your insulin level is bad for you. Those being: fructose, transfats, branched chain amino acids (even though they do have other health benefits), and alcohol. They all contribute to a fatty liver, called insulin resistance. They are not insulin regulated, and poison the mitochondria directly.
I'm glad that beetroot is a kinda national vegetable in Poland because it's very tasty. It's super easy to buy a 10 kg pack and not only it's available for whole year, but also it can stay for months in a fridge and still be good to eat. I really like them boiled, as part of salads, steamed, beet juices, sour pickled beets with onions and garlic, ukrainian borscht, borscht Christmas Eve and much more.
Another idea is bioavailability in foods. I'm fascinated by the different amounts of foods needed to reach the same levels of nutrition in others, due to bioavailability
Yes, I’d be very interested in a video deep diving into that topic. It would be particularly relevant to the milk video, given so many of the options on the market come fortified during the production process.
You should somehow do a fast food tier list. Maybe a restaurant tier list? That would be good to know if fast food is really that bad and which are the worst and best places to eat at.
Pepsi Zero genuinely helped me cut down on high-calorie sweets and drinks, while still giving me a sense of reward and satisfaction. Definitely belongs to my A tier.
You don`t speaked about yerba mate. In my opinion is a solid A, not typical yerba with sticks or dust but green mate who is only made from dry process. I love it. Juices like Orange should be made from fruits with fragments inside, without it is a junk drink in my opinion.
I have literally never heard of it. But to be fair theres probably a lot of more unique and obscure drinks I haven't heard of that are more popular in certain parts of the world. This may be a list that needs a part 2 at some point
You really should've reviewed milk and skim milk separately. Skim milk is so much superior, I'd almost put it in S. Also plant milks like oat and almond milks can be very good for you (non-sweetened ones at least).
Obviously there are a million and one drinks, but I think it would be cool if you covered Yerba Mate in a part 2. It's very trendy and I really would like to know just how nutritious it really is vs whatever health harms it could cause.
I think the main issue with milk is that it often has added chemicals such as preservatives or stabilizers. In my case it has sodium tripolyphosphate, sodium citrate, monosodium phosphate and dissodium diphosphate. A bunch of add-ons to an otherwise nice drink....
For instance aspartame is neutral.. It's much healthier to drink 1L of cola zero with aspartame than drinking 1L of coca cola with added sugar.. 0g of sugar vs 100g of sugar, but still water is the best to drink, a good mineralized water can contain 50-150mg of magnesium per 1L, if you train then typically you drink 3L of that kind of water everyday, so you can reach 100% RDA of magnesium only drinking water, but drinking fresh cola straight from fridge with meal is also amazing so choose wisely
jury's still somewhat out on that but generally speaking the most common ones don't seem to cause any issues aside from a possible harm to the gut microbiome when consumed excessively and regularly (recently there was a research review that actually didn't find any significant harm in that either). Most of the stigma comes from extremely flawed (possibly entirely falsified) studies in the 70s that no one has managed to replicate the results of.
I have switched to drinking almost only water a while ago to reduce my sugar intake. The one "sin" I didn't kick was a can of energy drink to get the gears going in the morning. Thanks to this video, I found out that energy drinks might be worseneing my cardiovascular issues, something all my doctors forgot to mention despite me telling them about my regular energy drink consumption to check if that was problematic. Of course I don't know how much impact kicking energy drinks for good will have right now, but you may have contributed massively to me getting better.
I think it depends on the energy drink too. Try taking pre workout... Often times pre workouts like C4, bang, and beyond raw is 0 calories and 0 sugars 💪🏻👊🏻
@@420workoutcrew This is exactly the kind of misinformation I fell for. The problem is not sugar or calories. The problem is that some of the "energising" ingredients in energy drinks are directly related to high blood pressure, cardiac arrhythmias and tachycardia.
@@trnogger honestly I'm curious, keep explaining. Because I genuinely do look at the ingredients and have been buying Bangs and C4 still because of the few ingredients (hydrogenated oil, high fructose corn syrup) to stay away from. What other ingredients cause HBP and other health problems?
