Music Industry and Performing Arts Programs
Beginning as the Sydney Guitar School in 1968 founded by Dr Peter Calvo, the Australian Institute of Music (AIM) is now a major player in education & training for the Australian music industry, performing arts & entertainment management fields. Being an independent institute, AIM is not a music university, however AIM Music Courses deliver accredited music tuition & unique industry relevant programs designed to equip students for successful lifelong creative careers, across music diplomas, music degrees and graduate music studies.
Diverse Music Course Choices
You simply won't find a more diverse combination of professional courses, campus facilities, student body, opportunities & music teachers at the top of their game, & all under one roof, than you will at AIM - with a wide range of undergraduate & graduate music courses, each with its own Head of Department & professional teaching staff. We also offer Acting & Theatre through the Australian Academy of Dramatic Art, in addition to AIM High School, Music Lessons & Young AIM music tuition are also available.
Professional Music Teaching Staff
In addition to our exceptional list of music & performing arts teachers, we also have a fulltime student services support team, marketing admissions team, web team & purposed music library, with over 1000 students and dedicated small staff to student ratio. So there's always something happening.
Customised Music & Entertainment Education
AIM students can individually tailor their studies to integrate performance skills, business management, marketing, individual instrument or voice lessons, audio & sound engineering, music production and other specialised units. Students also undertake industry placements as part of their course.
Great Educational & Performance Facilities
With select facilities, performance spaces, industry standard Q Studios - and with industry staff on hand, students can develop the confidence and skills needed to pursue a successful career in the music industry, performing arts & wider entertainment fields.
Song Originally wrote by Horace Silver
Bernard "Buddy" Rich (September 30, 1917 -- April 2, 1987) was an American jazz drummer and bandleader. Rich was billed as "the world's greatest drummer" and was known for his virtuoso technique, power, groove, and speed.
Rich was born in Manhattan, New York, to Jewish vaudevillians Robert and Bess Rich. His talent for rhythm was first noted by his father, who saw that Buddy could keep a steady beat with spoons at the age of one. He began playing drums in vaudeville when he was 18 months old, billed as "Traps the Drum Wonder." At the peak of Rich's childhood career, he was reportedly the second-highest paid child entertainer in the world (after Jackie Coogan). At 11 he was performing as a bandleader. He received no formal drum instruction, and went so far as to claim that instruction would only degrade his musical talent. He also never admitted to practicing, claiming to play the drums only during performances and was not known to read music. He expressed great admiration for, and was influenced by, the playing of Chick Webb, Gene Krupa, Dave Tough, and Jo Jones, among others

I thought it was a superb performance from a band of young guys. The drummer acquitted himself very well playing a Buddy Rich classic
