BEST EVER! Works with ACTIVE Basses! Lasts through live show. Minimal dropouts. Long range for those of us who like to run around the stage or into the audience. Only negative: the zipper on the case broke.
Thank you for this video. I bought this system after watching it. It's the best I've tried for my bass. I've played about 30 meters distanced from the receptor and it hasn't been a problem.
After seeing a lot of your videos related to this topic, I think this is the one for me, almost all my guitars have EMG active pickups, that's why I need this, also considering this extreme test that you've made, there's no doubt in my opinion, I'm buying this one... thanks a lot for the effort reviewing and comparing lots of different models and frequencies, appreciate this a lot man. Greetings from Lima, Perú.
Yep I got my set about six months ago haven't had a problem jam with it everyday. Plus the little carrying case / charger is the icing on the cake. And yes I have EMG pickups in all of my guitars. I did modify my straps or I should say my girlfriend did with a little pocket and with a one foot chord with a female Jack on one end. Now I don't have to worry about the dongle getting bumped around. Great unit I would definitely recommend getting it.
Yeah, this wireless is really awesome. I know I keep fawning over the case in the video.... but I love that design so much! It’s a great wireless for sure! 🤘
Superb!! You answered every question I had about these systems. Your delivery is great, Hols ones attention & is very informative!. Thanks much & rock on!!
Sold !!!! Been watching your earlier vids on this topic. You sold me on the 2.4ghz when I was looking at the 5.8ghz, sold me on the NuX when I wanted the Boss WL20-L for active pickups, and saved me several of our quaint English pounds over the price of the Boss. My earbuds charge in the same way: such a good idea - You got a subscription - have a like as well. 🙂.
Thanks for the review, and yes, my first question was also if it would work with my LR Baggs Anthem acoustic guitar pickup system. I'm purchasing this today and will return with my thoughts of how well it works, your dd is much appreciated!! 👍
Even knowing you are reluctant, I'd love to hear you test the newer getaria X3 Pro, especially because it's 2.4ghz yet it promises even less latency than their 5.8ghz offering. No one on the entirety of internet has done such a great job of reviewing so many similar cheap wireless transmitters as you have, that's invaluablek! Thank you!
Thanks, glad you enjoy the videos! And I've never had a problem with latency with ANY of these systems. Maybe a TINY bit with my xvive one time. But a "better latency" to me is basically a moot point since I've never had any problems with latency. Cheers!
@@kernelxsanders Great piece of kit. I use them all the time. I did try the cheaper ones but they sounded tinny. These sound exactly the same as it would with a decent cable.
@@ScottUhlMusic wow, thanks for the response, people rarely respond. Just the fact that you still recommend it says a lot about the product. I do recall people saying something about the sound on 5.8ghz systems sounding more compressed but I have not looked at the two systems side by side, it’s hard to find these on the shelves at local stores so far. Thx again, I’ll check out the 5.8 version.
Either one is fine for sure, but I just have a lot of interference with 2.4ghz personally. And as I don’t hear a difference with 2.4 vs 5.8 as far as tone, and as far as I know there is no difference. But yeah, either one would be great 👍 I personally just chose 5.8 over 2.4 any day
Well, I found one in stock in the next "town" over about an hour away. I wanted to support local business since Amazon has made plenty of money during this pandemic. Anyways, it is the 2.4Ghz version and I do like it. I initially plugged it into my Katana Artist amp that is about 3 feet away from the wi-fi router in my living room. I did instantly notice a slight delay but I have always been someone who notices even the slightest change in my amp settings, I guess I know what I like. But! I adjusted very quickly, within minutes, to the slight delay in transmission and it's 100% a non-issue. I also had to laugh because when I turned it on, my daughter came out of her room and showed me that her phone was no longer receiving a wi-fi signal because the signal was being "used" by another unknown device. I forget the exact message it said on her phone but I told her I had no idea what the problem was while keeping as straight a face as I could. She disconnected from our router and then reconnected and had no more issues, nor did I. The only other thing I noticed over the next 3 hours of playing was that the signal cut out for a millisecond during the first 20 minutes of use about 5 times and this is with the router closer than 3 feet from my amp. The rest of the night, there were no issues, I did not move my amp. For $150, this is just as good or better than the Nady system I had back in the 90's that got stolen. Would I buy this again? Hell yes. I can totally see myself buying the 5.8Ghz version as well, if I start jamming others or live again, as a backup.
Thanks! And I don’t really do that on my channel and I’m working on a video on it. Ultimately, I believe our ears play too many tricks on us and what is more important is “does it sound useable?”
@@ScottUhlMusic Thanks. Useable may mean different things depending on your goal. I don`t want this system for Stage monitoring. I want it to use at home with guitar or a keyboard into an amp( bye cable) or to make any headphones wireless without depending on bluetooth ( bye cable) but in both these cases I would be more aware of the quality of sound if I loose any vs the wired versions and therefore useable has a more demanding standard. Thanks again.
Oh wow, really? Is that the price for it everywhere or just on Amazon? I really like the unit, but that’s a bit high priced. $150usd is a great price for it IMO
I use the Nux B-5RC with a bass guitar to study at home. Sometimes it has a little signal cutting, I think it is because I use it near my ISP modem that uses 2.4 hz frequency. Have you heard about that issue? How I can solve it? great review by the way...
The only problem I ever ran into with active pickups is my Line6 system picks up some hum from the preamp. The TRS stereo plugs might not work if your guitar has a stereo out since it uses the ring channel to charge, so you need to have a stereo-to-mono adapter.
@@ScottUhlMusic yeah mine is a brand new one - the line6 modeling amps have a built-in receiver and you can buy a mated transmitter. Its clever - plugging it into the guitar jack is also the charger -= so its convenient . But it picks up preamp hum so I dont use it with certain guitars :(
Hey Scott... I own two Marcus Miller active basses. After trying a Shure BLX unit that doesn't drop out.. but I don't like the sound quality at all compared to the cable. Will the NUX maintain the sound integrity and will it work on my active MM basses?
If you hear a tone loss in the Shure wireless (which I don’t know how since it’s got the full frequency spectrum of 20-20khz) then you should probably stick with a cable. Or adjust your eq slightly different when you use a wireless.
@@ScottUhlMusic One thing to note is that when it says it has a frequency range of 20-20k (or any other range for that matter), it doesn't necessarily mean it would have the same frequency curve. Perhaps the Shure has a different curve than what the commenter is familiar with. Cables themselves can vary in frequency response as well, which is why more high end cables sometimes tend to sound better than cheap cables
Thank you for your review! I am a little confused. You say in the video there are 19 channels this can transmit on. With 2.4 GHz aren't there only 14 frequencies (11 in the US) that the device can transmit on?
Yeah, I made the video on the NUX before this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RCrFKKr8WUA.html so you are correct, 11 possible channels on 2.4Ghz should be right.
Hmm... it looks almost exactly like the one I reviewed here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HeiSm0R1Bpo.html which was a negative review. A quick search says that it has a "2021 updated version" so they might have made it better. The original version definitely was not good, and you can watch that video if you are interested in seeing why.
Sweet. Thanks Scott! I have a Shure in-ear PSM200 receiver that uses a 9 volt battery. And little Martin guitar with a Fishman transducer that also uses a 9 volt battery, active pickup system this would be perfect for. I wrote you a message regarding rechargeable 9 volt batteries. Have you done a video on the different brands and types of rechargeable 9 volt batteries? I watched another RU-vid video and so far I'm kind of looking at four different brands. The Bonso High drain capacity that does not come with a charger. The Deleepow that has a charging port built in to it. The Tenergy that I don't think comes with a charger? And the EBL 600 mA. Supposedly they are high capacity rechargeable 9 volt batteries? None of them come with chargers. And cost verries with different price points. I'm going to need to have four for my two devices, so I have a backup for each. Have you done a video reviewing rechargeable 9 volt batteries Brands and the pros and cons like you do on other equipment? If so if you could provide me the link that would be helpful. And if not hopefully I've given you a new topic to explore and video to do for us. Thanks again! PS: I was the guy who sent you a PM on the rechargeable battery subject.
The charging case will charge the wireless 3 times. The wireless can be charged by itself without the case, but the case works almost like a portable charger, and then you can recharge the case
I bought this very recently and I found that it has a whine, I use a blade rh4 took it to a local guitar shop and has been discovered that even at an Inch away the whine begins to disappear
I play in the church before the mass, then sit and play again after 45 minutes. The mixer sits away from me and no one sit next to it. When I play again after 45 minutes, the unit that’s plugged in my guitar already went into sleep mode, which I’ll press on it to bring it back to life. Fir the unit that’s plugged in the mixer, do I need also someone to press on it to bring it to life, or will it detects that the guitar side is active now and connects back?
Yup, I do not see why it wouldn't fit. This one pivots so it can turn to fit basically any input jack. Some of the ones like the Boss and the Line 6 one just stick straight out, so would you have more trouble with those. But this one should work great!
I've watched a couple of your videos. Very informative. It seems that 2.4g is the way to go. Just tried a wireless by Rockville. It was trash. Dropped the signal by about 20db, huge bump in the low end with a rolled off top end, noisy and says you can change group/channel but they're actually fixed to one frequency. Stay away from those if you ever see it. One thing I haven't heard you mention, nor do I see in the comments, are how well these work when using multiple systems at once. I think that's an important thing to note for gigging musicians. If I plug one in and turn it on and it sets itself to be best frequency, then the other guitarist turns on one of the same unit, will is set itself to the next best available frequency, avoiding the frequency I'm using because it's in use?
Thanks for the comment… however, I CONSTANTLY mention that cheaper systems you cannot use a lot of them at once. I feel I overdo it lol. So that’s strange that you reached that conclusion. I always mention how many wireless can be used at once, and the cheaper ones have less than the expensive ones. Also, 2.4ghz is not the way to go in all my trials with these systems. 2.4ghz is the least reliable. I don’t know what gave you a 20db drop, but that wouldn’t be from the frequency. I always recommend 5.8 over 2.4 any day. I do still appreciate the comment, it’s always good to hear other peoples experience 👍
So one of my guitarists got one of these and the other guitarist and I are very interested in getting one, too. But we are a bit worried that the wireless signals of 2 or more of this will interfere to each other. Have you tested that, too?
This does not work with Dingwall NG and Ibanez basses in active mode - there's a horrible humming noise at around 1.6 khz that makes it impossible to use. A shame really since the system itself is very practical and smart... the noise disappears however when switching the bass to passive mode
That unfortunately can happen, and I go over that in this video: What Is The BEST CHEAP WIRELESS SYSTEM - Part III ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xRmmgrQoHZU.html
Just got them from Amazon. Schecter Active Pickups with Fishman Piezo. Regular pickups work fine. However the Piezo is not coming through. Piezo works fine with guitar cable. Any Thoughts?
They sound just as good to me. I do not have active pickups or issues with buzzing that other people have with the other ones. I haven’t had this one cut out on me yet, which is impressive for a 2.4 system since I always seem to have problems with those. That carrying case is SO nice and convenient too. I really like this one.
@@ScottUhlMusic Cool. I got the the Nux a couple of days ago and I love it. Played it on a big festival stage with my acoustic guitar without any issues, twice. I just ordered the Lekato ws70 for my keytar too. It's just 40 bucks, can't really go wrong with that, I guess. Your videos have been a big help in deciding which ones to get! Keep it up! Those guitar bugs are a new, exciting market, and it seems like they're flying under the radar mostly.
@@ScottUhlMusic Not sure if you're interested, but if you are: The Lekato ws70 I got was absolute shit with my Yamaha Reface DX. Terrible sound quality, lots of noise, weird gate, also after switching channels multiple times. I suspect they sent out a couple of flawless products in the beginning, and when people like you reported very positively on them, they drastically lowered production quality? (I've had a similar impression in the past with bluetooth headphones) Not sure if it's a deliberate scam. But they're going back.
I know you've probably gotten this question 100 times but I own an Ibanez Prestige 5006 (6-String) Bass and an Ibanez BTB 747 (7-String) Bass and I have an issue of the transmitter making a noise/hum. How do I eliminate this noise? Do I need an extension adapter? Are the C-RC's better?
What I always say is if you get a hum or noise from the cheaper ones, go for the Shure and sennheiser ones. Some cheaper ones just won’t work with all setups. However, you definitely can try the extension adapter. If THIS one if giving you noise, the other ones very likely will as well.
Hi, I checked your video out of curiositiy because I use a Nux B-5RC and I do have problems with my piezo instrument. Actually I use 2 different instruments, A Godin A8 mandolin with combined piezo and custom humbucker. No problem with this one. But on my Kala U-Bass I do have a hiss issue with the Nux transmitter. I tried puting the transmiter away from the preamp (on my shoulder strap) and although it reduces the hiss it does not always supress it. The solution is not stable and this is very annoying on stage. I have the same experience and result using an XVive. I suspect an issue with the U-Bass preamp (the standard Shadow they provide) but could not a solution from Kala support team. Do you have any suggestion?
Yup. Same advice I have for anyone who uses these cheap wireless and it doesn’t work with your specific setup…. Get a Shure or sennheiser system. That’s the solution 😊 The cheap stuff won’t work with every instrument, that’s just the way they work. But I’ve never had anyone say that the Shure or sennheiser systems don’t work for their setup. I’ve reviewed multiple of those wireless on my channel as well 👍
The case can charge the wireless transmitter and receiver 3 full times (from the transmitter and wireless being dead). Then the case needs to be recharged itself 👍
I may try this one out. The active question as it applies to bass is Very important since everything I'm using right now is active 5 strings- one Quantum 5 with 9v EMG's which are aggressive. I'd assume an 18 volt system might push the envelope with stronger output. I have two Samson AP1B units for several years and one's starting to crackle but given the features I've been very happy so far. They're just discontinued and Samson doesn't make a suitable replacement (angry emoji). Prefer the "bug" systems as they don't involve possibility of faulty cables, belt packs and big boxy receivers. Not a stompbox fanboi. Anything to reduce setup and occupied space in the Pelican used to transport the head and accessories. Great video. I'll continue to research this setup. At that price point not much to lose. Sub'd.
Yeah I think this system is definitely worth a try for sure with your setup. Give it a try, and if you do not like it for some reason, you can always return it 👍 but I think this one will work great for you
@@ScottUhlMusic nope! They recommend to get a TRS to TS adapter to make it work on their website. Least they could do was include that adapter in such cases since not everyone has passive pickups! It makes squealing sound and hum/noise and what not without the adapter, and the transmitter feels that it’s inserted into charging dock without the adapter.
Hi. I'm using nux stageman as my acoustic guitar pedal. However when I pair that with the ammoon 5.8ghz wireless, I get a humming sound from my guitar. Will this nux b5rc resolve the humming sound?
My guess is that yes it will. But always try out the gear asap when you get it and return it if it doesn’t work. But these NUX systems do better with hum and buzz than the other cheaper ones
Sadly didn't work with my Ibanez SRX 505 active pickup bass, had to return for a refund. Gutted because it looked a great piece of equipment for the money
@@beaglebailey6588 I honestly don't know, I plugged it in as per the instructions and I had a bad humming/buzzing noise which got worse when I moved around. It may have been faulty equipment or environment, but I have since bought the ammoon 5.8ghz wireless and have had no issues (same bass, same environment)
In all honesty, that doesn’t make any sense that the Ammoon would work but this one would not work... unless you have some really bizarre pickup that I’ve never heard of or something. The only answer I have is that you might have gotten a faulty unit. Now that you have one that works, all is good anyways. But I would message NUX and let them know next time and I’m sure they would have replaced it for you.
@@ScottUhlMusic I don't know, I can only tell you what happened, I bought the 2 units at the same time so I could swap if there was an issue live. There was a legitimate reason why I didn't have a replacement from the supplier, but the refunded without question so all is good.
Why does it say that the battery run time is 3.5 in the case but if you look online it says that it lasts up to 15? Just checked another website that it says up to 6 hours playing continuously but up to 20 with sleep mode activated.
The battery life is longer than 3.5 because I’ve used it for 4 hours without problem. However, what they mean with 15 hours “with the case” is that the CASE can charge the batteries up to 3 times, so you’ll get up to 15 hours of battery life without having to recharge the case. It’s really convenient for sure.
I explain all of the bonus features this wireless has throughout the video. Watch it to find out 😁 but I’ll say this.... The main negative that I’ve heard about the ws 70 from people/comments is that is has a lot of noise. It didn’t for me, but this one is specifically designed to not have that noise/hum problem some people find. But watch the video to find out the other reasons why this one is worth the price point. I specifically mention it multiple times throughout the video
@@ScottUhlMusic I asked because I did watch both this video and your earlier Lekato video, and I couldn't understand how a charging case and longer range could be worth paying 3x as much.
Gotcha. I think that’s a completely fair question. And to be honest, it might not be worth that price to you. The ws 70 works great for me (and you’ll notice in the video that’s the one my wife used at our gigs in Dominican while I used the nux). But I’ve seen quite a few comments that the ws70 gives them noise/hiss problems. This one is designed to not do that and work very well with all pickups. The charging case is actually super nice... I really really liked that feature. But also it has a mute that doesn’t pop when you turn it on or off, it has a cable tone emulator (I personally do not use), and it is definitely built better than the other cheap ones (just by feel). But for you, it might NOT be worth it in all honesty. The ws70 works great for me, but not for everyone. But I brought 4 wireless on this trip.... and for me, every time I reached for the NUX instead of the other ones. But you might not need to spend that much if you do not need the extra features that this one has. That’s just my two cents on it 👍
@@ScottUhlMusic one more question. How long do you think the battery will last before you have to toss it. I practice 12hrs a week. Thank you. Im about ready to pull the trigger.lol
@@garyclements318 How long until the battery no longer holds a charge? I don't have exact number for you for that. That is one of the downsides of using one of these with a built in battery that charges over micro USB... the battery is built in, so once that dies you have to replace it. You should be able to get at least 2 years out of it is my guess, but I can't back it up with anything except speculation :)
@@ScottUhlMusic thanks, i will save my battery by not using it all the time and use the old tripping cord, lol, i love the idea of 19 channels and a no hum. Squeezing the trigger tomorrow . Do you do reviews on page turning pedals? Im not a wealthy man but looking for one to work with an older Ipad. Any recommendations would help. The problem with most reviews, some say its junk and then others say ah man its awesome if you know what i mean. Again ,thanks for your videos.
I don’t own any active pickups, but many people have said cheap wireless do not work with their active pickups. Either they get no sound, or they get a lot of buzz/hiss
@@ScottUhlMusic i Buy a swiff audio ws70 this is the same of lekato ws70 i think or only in the model and i have a active pickups in My electric guitar but the tone si not good but with cable the clean tone and i use the vol control For distor and i down the vol for have a clean tone this can't usted in the wireless becase the note fades like how i use a noise gate
If you are not liking these cheaper ones for whatever reason, I highly recommend spending the money to get a nice Shure or sennheiser system. I’ve done multiple reviews on those as well. They will be what you need 👍
As someone who has both, I definitely like this one more. The battery life is definitely longer in the boss, but if I had to chose between two, I would go NUX personally
Always try it out when you get it and return it if it doesn’t work. However you can always try using an adapter. I mention the adapter in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_iGQ7e3gtZc.html
This is supposed to work with almost all pickups. Unless you have a really weird one, it should be fine if it’s not defective. Try it on another guitar and see if it has the same problem. Gotta problem solve a little to find out 👍
I did a video on the BLX here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-k5OM4GUJNvQ.html and I’m working on the GLX video right now actually! It will be out next week or the week after. But I prefer BLX for sure over the glx
Feature wise yes, this one is better built for sure and has more features. Some people have no problems with 2.4.... others do. I really think both of them are good. If you go lekato I would get the 5.8 model. But really both of them are great
Same thing applies to the UHF lekato. The nux has more features and I’ve had some people comment that the lekato gives them a hiss and noise where as this one doesn’t. Thats the main difference besides the frequency.
I recently got this one and tried it with an active pickup bass guitar (spector euro 4lx) and for some reason there's this high pitched noise that's constantly ringing, i tried it with a fender boxer bass (With a passive pickup) and the sound went, is there any ways i could dodge this when i want to play an active bass? the manual says use a female to male adaptor but i cant find any good ones
This just isn't accurate. I have an L R Baggs M80 on one acoustic and a Fishman Rare Earth Mic Blend on another. This Nux system results in an unacceptable high-pitched whine from both of them.
I actually have two of these NUX systems and the same thing happens with both of them. There is a workaround where you can insert a mono jack adapter between the pickup and the NUX bug but it's a pain in the neck and still lets a residue of the whine come through. Doubt it being my bad luck that I got two defective systems bought a year apart. @@ScottUhlMusic
Then you need to spend the money and get a good sennheiser or Shure and not shop in the cheap section 👍 I recommend this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rWVF0tv8zCM.html
Hey. First of all, thanks for the review, it's amazing! I want ask, I play the violin, and I built myself a piezo pickup that is balanced. According to this guide www.instructables.com/Balanced-piezo-contact-microphones/ (my pickup has a 6.35mm female balanced connector) Do you know of any wireless guitar system that can work with my pickup and keep it balanced? Does the NUX that works with an active pickup also have a balanced connection? I would appreciate if you have an answer for me Thank you
My advice is to always test it out and if it doesn’t work, return it. This system is amazing and worked on every single guitar I had… until I got my GTRS S800. It’s too hot for that. So I only use it with my other guitars.
