For everyone with amd. Theres a mod named Vulkan. It doesnt give you so many chunks but gives a huge fps boost. So if you have a amd gpu and ur game running bad use it. Sadly there are a lot of mods that are incompatible cuz it changes the rendering
@@bapyvillager349 very true in a lot of aspects, but vulkan changes the rendering from opengl, so if any mod relies on opengl to work, then vulkan will make them incompatible (i.e. Vivecraft)
@@shitalsawant1973 That’s because bedrock’s performance is way better for some reason. On my pc I run like 300+ fps on bedrock at max render distance, but on java with max tender distance I get 2 fps. Bedrock is just better in terms of performance
@@HalfDeadYT yeah Bedrock Edition's Performance is out of the Chart for Java Edition even with Sodium, Bedrock Edition is Multi Threaded + C++ is more efficient than Java, and Bedrock Edition's Chunk Rendering Algorithm was so much Godly Optimised that even if you set the Render Distance to Max it wouldn't affect the performance at all, that's why if you Bedrock Edition doesn't get the FPS boost by decreasing Render Distance because it's already so optimised you don't even have to care about it, and Bedrock Edition divides the load on CPU and GPU equally unlike Java which is a CPU Intensive game, it's estimated that Bedrock Edition's Client and Server Performance is 30 Times Better than Vanilla Java Edition
because... bedrock, (aka mc mobile) has ONE selling point: Optimisation. I can play with 64 chunks and 800 fps, but hey, i dont want to play a worse minecraft...@@shitalsawant1973
Ik I was here for the Mod but I genuinely enjoyed your personality in the video. Definitely the most unique Minecraft mod review I've seen... you have a good sense of humor but you don't overuse it either. Great work, keep it up!
Yeah, Nvidia name is really cool in spanish, and that is why almost all gaming/tech spanish communities have made at least one time the joke about Nvidia cuz the spanish word "Envidia" is "Envy"
So "OpenGL Extensions", OpenGL is the Graphics API Minecraft Uses, (other Graphics APIs include: DirectX and Vulkan). "Extensions" are additions that GPU Drivers can make to give OpenGL access to features that exist on said GPU (so older GPUs may not have features, or some brands may only have some features). So the mod is basically using Nvidia-Only Extensions to OpenGL that only Nvidia GPUs can make use of.
Ok We can see that it requires NVIDIA. but as we know there are some people who use "nouveau" driver with their NVIDIA the big question is, does this work on NVIDIA while it is using the "nouveau" driver?
@@tacokonekoI'm not the most sure about extension support in nouveau, and a simple google search wasn't that revealing. Considering the overall limitations of nouveau though, I'd wager it'll probably not work for a while
Thanks so much for making me discover such a great mod!! As you said, not only does it increase your FPS by quite a lot, the stutters and screen-tears are soo much rarer now!
@@red9350 and the fact that he was constantly moving the camera angle causing FPS to wildly vary. awful test method and tells me nothing about performance numbers also, AMD graphics may not be as performant, but at least AMD is pro consumer. NVIDIA doesn't care about you.
This is just a theory, but what you're referring to as "screen tearing" specifically in VR might actually be Reprojection: a technique VR uses to interpolate missing frames by 'warping' the previous frame in 3D space to make it seem 'smoother' and feel closer to the target framerate (usually 80, 90, or 120 fps depending on the headset). It completely falls apart at abysmally low fps tho and becomes sick-inducing as it tries to warp the already-warped frames to fill in much larger gaps in FPS, making it look like your view is being pulled in different directions simultaneously. Awesome mod tho, I can't wait to try it specifically in VR too. Thanks for shedding light on it!
@@PlagueDoctorGoober You should try to lock the FPS at the refresh rate of your VR helmet and subtract 5 frames, so if you have a 120 Hz helmet, set it to 115 frames inside the game and enable V-Sync. I don't know if VR helmets have G-Sync support but if they do, enable it. In general, you should set the FPS limit to the number that the computer can keep stable, then FPS drops wont be noticeable. And before someone says that more FPS = less input lag. Yes, more FPS gives less input lag, but if the GPU is loaded at 99-100% and trying to render 1000 FPS, this input lag starts to increase due to the fact that the GPU can't keep up with the CPU's frame delivery, so all those frames from the CPU just sit in the GPU buffer while the GPU finishes the previous frame.
Nice vid. Strong feeling your type of quality videos are unique for combining a full body presenter and minecraft simultaneously, so more engaging. You are a smart guy. Who is to say whether you aren't using a voice changer lol.
I was a bit confused when I originally downloaded this mod and instead of running worse like I expected, it ran even better than it did without it. It literally was a win win.
@simply_maja I originally downloaded this mod for more render distance, so I expected more chunks = less performance. I just didn't expect a built-in optimization on top of the optimization that sodium already has, and definitely not an improvement in performance with more chucks rendered.
I subscribed your cool and this is a great channel you got man Edit and also i usually comment on what i thing and just how i think the video is i think this channel will be big as big as stampycat's
the vr part is so relatable. i gave up on minecraft vr because the performance was just so bad even with a 3080 and a i9-10850K, i searched far and wide for performance mods and i basically had every single performance mod known to man just to get a somewhat consistent 90 fps. This was in 1.19 so i might try to 1.21 to see if my FPS is better.
Got along way ahead of you you're easily gonna overcome. With your editing I thought you were some famous creator. Got potential my guy.@@PlagueDoctorGoober
Just going to mention that it works on Linux too, and damn the performance improvement is insane, i'm getting 360FPS (my monitor's refresh rate) at 32 chunks, with an RTX 3060
I don't know if anyone said this yet but usually when benchmarking you dont care about min or max fps since usually 1 stutter causes to drop the min to 0 and you can look qt the floor and get 1000 fps usually people care about average 1% low and 0.1% low they usually measure the stuttering the average is used to estimate the fps while the 1% for general stuttering and 0.1% for large stutters
@@PlagueDoctorGoober fair enough i just want to clarify that what i said meant as constructive criticism i still enjoyed the video just i hope in the future if you do more benchmarks take what i said
Personally i think you should have used msi afterburner, which has riva tuner built into it and is known to be quite reliable, unlike the mod you used which appeared to have lots and lots of inconsistencies when it came to the minimum fps
Bro i feel that way too much... though luckily just Sodium alone makes the game run plenty fast even on an 8 year old intel iGPU lol. Excluding shaders that is...
I'm not an expert on graphics, but from what I can tell, the mod makes use of mesh shaders to get the boost in performance. AMD, Nvidia, and Intel all support this feature, but Nvidia is the only one that provides an extension for OpenGL for some reason.
Nvidiun is great. Here is some constructive criticism. It will sound better if you do the whole voice over on your good mic then the parts where you want to talk with the outfit you can just act it out, it will make it eaiser if you put the audio on a speaker/phone and you can just say the words too if you remember it. This will keep all the audio consistent and high quality without sacraficing your input with the costume and green screen.
Thanks for the suggestion! I will continue to improve on the quality of the mask segments but I prefer to use a different mic as I want there to be a noticeable and genuine difference to the plague doctor coming on screen, I know it has its quirks right now, but it helps break up the voiceover and saves me the time of having to re-record each time the voiceover doesn't match up to the plague doctor footage!
the performance increase you got from switching from 1.19.3 to 1.20 might have also been due to an update to sodium around the time 1.20 came out that dramatically improved performance for nvidia graphics cards
I expected this to be another performance mod that just made the already good pcs better, but i installed it and OMG. I used to play with 15 chunks for a 60 - 55 fps framerate, now, im playing WITH 32 CHUNKS WITH ALMOST NO LAG!!! thx so much for this vid
The only reason your vr tests would cap at 89-90fps is because you're headsets refresh rate is 90hz, I'm assuming you're on quest 2 for VR but if not then try it with a higher refresh rate and see if it gets you some higher frames.
By the way, using ingame fps counters can lower your fps, such as the f3 menu, it is not as bad when its just that widget. but I would recommend alt+r (I forget if this actually counts as better)
Would've been neat to see how it works with shader support 😁I usually use shaders (also in vr) but not all performance mods play well with that😅 But yeah, will probably try it myself and see how the performance goes 👀 (the inconsistency in your measurements could be because you arent using the exact same camera angles 👍
@@HonkinGooseGeek Minecraft isn't "made" for Nvidia. Nvidia simply has better OpenGL optimizations (OpenGL is what Minecraft runs on), though ever since the 22.7.1 AMD driver update the pure raster performance is much more comparable. Where Nvidia differentiates from AMD (in regards to Nvidium) is it's OpenGL extensions related to mesh shaders. Whilst AMD do technically have mesh shaders they haven't implemented them on OpenGL.
Me, watching this while my PC sounds like an airplane engine literally just watching this and not doing anything else: hmmmmmmmm... I might, MIGHT try it out
@@PlagueDoctorGoober I actually used to have my own plague doctor character called Ibis! Now I'm just a huge sucker for old fashioned clothing, so your character and content absolutely hit it!
thank you for this! i never knew this mod existed and it helps immensely! somehow it made 20fps to a 40fps (and really responsive and playable) game with max graphics with seus ptgi hrr 3 on a RTX 3060m
Good job on this video bro Id say just work on your mic quality because it gets kinda ruff sometimes when you’re on screen Other then that this is a banger video bro!
ЕБАААААААААААААТЬ! I WAS LITERALLY IN MY HEAD WONDERING HOW THIS MOD WOULD WORK WITH VIVECRAFT, AND OH MY GOD, I WAS A HUNDRED PERCENT SURE THAT I WOULD NOT FIND AN ANSWER ON THE INTERNET AND WOULD HAVE TO TEST EVERYTHING MYSELF. I DID NOT THINK I WOULD FIND THE ANSWER TO THE QUESTION SO EASILY AND MOST IMPORTANTLY UNEXPECTED! THANK YOU SO MUCH. Praise Russian youtube, your video was translated into my language, came to the original to add a fame
I hope at some point they can make it work with shaders, at the moment not being able to use them with this is a deal breaker. Still, very impressive mod and very useful for those who don't use shaders!
Another awesome mod for far render distances is Distant Horizons. It adds in a functional LOD system, a mechanic every modern game uses where things that are far away are less detailed than things that are up close, cutting down the amount of resources used for them immensely. Minecraft does not have this, so every structure within your render distance is rendered fully textured and with all of its polygons, making far render distances cost exponentially more resources despite these details being unnoticeable at faraway distances. With the mod, you can easily hit render distances well above 200 chunks without much of a performance hit, with the loss of detail only really noticeable if you zoom in with optifine
great video, thanks, I was testing vivecraft in minecraft 1.20.2 today, with sodium, gonna try with NVidium in my 1660 ti, I hope it runs great, and I'll pray for my old GPU to keep handling VR titles
