Made some delicious NY Strip on my Char-Griller Gravity fed 980 in under 10 minutes!
Ingredients:
NY Strip steak
Olive Oil
Kosher salt, ground black pepper
Directions:
Remove steaks from package and pat dry
Cover with a little bit of oil and season with salt and pepper
Fire up grill to 500F
Sear your steaks on the grates for a total of 8 minutes - Sear for 2 minutes, twist 90 degrees, sear for 2 minutes then flip, sear for 2 minutes then twist 90 degrees, then temp probe. Leave on grill until you reach desired temp.
Remove from heat, let rest 10 minutes and enjoy!

I’m late to this party, but, I was gonna get one of these grills in May 2021, but, was gonna wait for Christmas. We flooded in Hurricane Ida August 29, 2021. I was gonna wait for the house to be finished, but, I couldn’t wait anymore. My grill is supposed to be delivered tomorrow. House is still not finished, but, I will be eating well!!! Thanks for the videos Rob!!!

I like your style mate and the look of this grill ! 🤙 However I do think you need to demo a finish at 600F plus for us to see more searing action ( they’re good, but a bit pale)

Steaks look great. I'm looking to buy one. Was wondering how much charcoal would you put in for a quick cook like that?
@RobsBackyardBBQ
@RobsBackyardBBQ 3 года назад
Thanks for watching! I always top it off on whatever i'm cooking, but I doubt this used very much charcoal. It prob took about 10 minutes to get up to 500, then I shut it back down 10 minutes later after cooking the steaks.

@MrHim28s
@MrHim28s 3 года назад
hey, question for you..i just put together my Gravity 980...but with the fan door closed its not coming up to temp at all...do you think this is because of the rubber flap that is attached to the fan box thats stopping air from getting through? should i remove that rubber flap? what did you do?
@RobsBackyardBBQ
@RobsBackyardBBQ 3 года назад
Hey there - you want the fan open the entire time you're cooking to let air in.. leave the flap etc 👍
@MrHim28s
@MrHim28s 3 года назад
ok thanks i didnt know that. so is it suppose to hang down the entire time or up against the fan box roof? because i had the box open it came up to temp but then it started to drop even with the door open. now im not talking about 4-5 degrees im talking 20-30. so i opened the ash box pushed the kill button to see what the flap was doing and it was blocking air from coming through by hanging down.
@RobsBackyardBBQ
@RobsBackyardBBQ 3 года назад
@@MrHim28s yeah, just unhook the fan door and let it gang free. The flap is supposed to block the opening, then when the fan kicks on the fan will push it enough to let air through. Try to keep the ash door and hopper lid shut during the cook unless you're adding fuel/wood.
