patreon.com/GoGoSuprToe Take the train to the Port Autority Bus Terminal (A/C/E to 42nd st) New Jersey Transit bus 355 goes straight to the American Dream Mall
It's nice how NJT has a dedicated route for it! Like how the 320 to Harmon Meadow in Secaucus helps New Yorkers get to a Walmart (it also serves a park and ride in North Bergen for those who park there and take the bus into the city)! Because that's the point of transit, serve everyone, be used for everything, to make EVERYONE'S lives better! Not just something used to get to work but to do errands, attend church, see a game, see family, etc! Something else to mention is for those living in NJ, the 85 bus from Hoboken Terminal, the 772 from Paramus, and the 703 from Haledon also goes there! Yes, it's East Rutherford, the Rutherford part comes from John Rutherfurd, a former US senator (who served in the 1790s) who owned land in the area. The prices for a family like yours are insane, but the American Dream mall is still a pretty cool place! It may be wild to see a big water park or theme park inside a mall but as malls evolve, it's a way for malls to get a guaranteed crowd! The indoor ski slope sounds dumb at first, but when you realize it's targeted towards NYC people who want to ski but can't or don't want to go too far, then it makes sense.
Yes I'm pretty impressed by how extensive their bus routes are. Still... the trip back from American Dream via NJT was pretty awful. Buses are, after all, still just traffic unless they have dedicated lanes.
It's insane how long it took to complete that mall, it is cursed! The project was first proposed in 2003 by the Mills Corporation as the Meadowlands Xanadu, with construction beginning in 2004. After the Mills Corporation's bankruptcy in 2007, the project was taken over by Colony Capital. In May 2009, construction stalled due to the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers. Triple Five Group (who owns Mall of America and West Edmonton Mall) announced intent to take over the mall in May 2011, and on July 31, 2013, officially gained control of the mall and the surrounding site. After a series of ownership changes, financing issues, construction delays, and legal challenges, construction stopped again in December 2016. In late June 2017, construction had resumed, after new financing had been secured, though the project would suffer a series of chronically delayed opening dates. The Nickelodeon Universe theme park and ice rink opened in October 2019, then the ski slope in December 2019, then the water park opened in October 2020 after the pandemic caused a delay. If that wasn't enough, the ski slope caught fire in September 2021, and a decorative helicopter fell into a swimming pool at the water park that injured four in February 2023!
I rode the NJ Transit bus like 3 times this past year and once last year. Last year I rode the 836 bus from Asbury Park to Freehold Bus Station and caught the 139 from Freehold Station back to Port Authority. This past year I rode the 111 and 115 bus to/from Jersey Gardens Mall! You should do that one day! It was a very nice ride! I I forgot to mention that I rode the NJ Transit train last year from New York Penn Station to Asbury Park! Took me 2 hours.
This video is funny because I was just at the American Dream Mall a few months ago. Great video as always, supertoe! I also wanted to say that I have been watching you since I was 5 and now I am 11. Keep up the great work! Edit: Here is an idea for TSN: Take the 7 from Times Square to Grand Central. Take the LIRR to Ronkonkoma. Then take the 2nd LIRR to Greenport station.
I took that bus route to attend a football game across the street at MetLife Stadium. Very easy. I would recommend taking that for football games. They have hourly weekend service but only two buses on the weekday.
I went to this waterpark back in May 2022 but I took a different route which was the 161 route because the 355 wasn’t running and it was on a weekday. There’s also a Nickelodeon theme park which you probably saw. They have a lot of fun places in American dream mall.
Someone ice skated over my left thumb at that exact mall in Febuary 2020, Thank God it didn't go 2 inches deeper or I wouldn't have a left thumb. I have a permanent mark from the incident.
Suprtoe! You really should set up a discord server to talk with your fans! Also, I found out the mystery behind the Neck Road (my home station) staircase to nowhere if you're interested! :)
I have a train suggestion The 1 Train to 145th St then transfer to the D train to 170 St then Take the B to 155 St then walk to the 7 Train to port authority bus terminal then take the 6 train towards Pelham bay park way then back to 86 st then take the G to church ave then take the N to Coney Island Stilwell Ave then take the Z to Myrtle ave then take the LIRR to Jamaica then take the A Train to Utica Ave then end at the F train station
LOL! I'm going to do that anyway, I just need to find the time (and sacrifice the sleep) to do it. But the Patreon does give you access to early releases (when possible) and some exclusive content.
If the screen was not working, or if I didn’t find out which gate in advance, looks like there is no other way (non digital or non interactive wayfinding signs listing the exact routes) to find out which gate is for American Dream Mall. Or there could be supplemental direction signs along the way leading to the gate, encouraging people to use the bus to the mall. The adventure of riding the subway and bus looks fun!
