The New York Audio Video Institute is a band creating multimedia spectacle, a fusion of sonic and visual art. The band is made up of Boris Nazarov on electronics, Yana Davydova on guitar, DJ Active Phaze on turntables, and Amos Fisher on clarinet, guitar, singing bowls, and whatever other musical instrument he can get his hands on. The four musicians create improvised music that shifts fluidly between jazzy improvisation, bone-crunching riffs, and outer-space experimentation. And all of it passes through the visualization of VJ Fuzzy Bastard, who uses the sound waves from the musicians to create psychedelic, immersive projections, where pixels wiggle and shake to the music. All of it adds up to an experience somewhere between concert and immersive environment, where the music and the image combine into one hypnotic trip.
