It was hopping with activity in the 90s. Check out the Night Court intro to see what New York was like before Disney bought and sanitized times Square and beyond. It's definitely cleaner and quieter, not one siren even. Still a great city!
I used to work the night shift in a hôtel and I can say that it's not the dangerous people but the lost ones who wander the streets at night. Mental disorders are perhaps the greatest factor in social exclusion.
During the 70s and 80s NYC at 3am was humming with open businesses and people energy. That’s why they called it the city that never sleeps. I remember it so vividly. NYC has been battered and fallen
off topic but ever since their money boy started getting into drama, they been recommending me small channels ive never seen and things i wouldnt even usually watch wonder whyyyyyyyyyyyyy
I have been looking into jumping in but it is a long process. I suppose you could have instant success if you had the money to advertise a little to increase traffic. It appears to me the way I read it that you are probable going to be into it at least a year before you see any sort of positive cash flow for your time and efforts.
@@monmixerin any new business venture no matter what it is you are never going to make profit after year one. So unless you're willing or able to take that hit in year one you'll never give yourself a chance. Obviously there are exceptions personally I have my own business it's a coffee shop/Deli from a truck I do corporate events music festivals etc but at first I just did have the truck in one spot until I built up the money to grow the business. And I can assure you I didn't do that in one year
Lol... I remember visiting NYC in 2012, my first time. We caught a cab from the airport and the first billboard I saw along the highway made me laugh. It read, "Welcome to New York, the city that never sleeps. Could it be the mattress?" It was an advertisement for some mattress company! Very clever marketing!
I live in the middle of nowhere about 6 kilometres from a tiny little village called Ballinalee in Co.Longford Ireland I grew up on a dairy farm roaming through rolling fields and lakes. I find this fascinating. It’s definitely a concrete jungle that never sleeps. Amazing ❤
This was so cool to watch. I am from the south. I live in central Louisiana. I have never been to New York. I have never seen so many lights!! I keep wondering why people are walking around at 3AM and with kids. It seems so peaceful too and like a regular New York night. Where I live people are in the house by 7pm on a regular night, and restaurants are closed by 10pm. Great video! I’m in awe seriously!
I’m from nyc here. Lots of videos trying to get views on extremes (how bad this and that is). I live by the city and been living here for 41 years. It’s pretty good (if you have money), and can be harsh (if you don’t). Lots of movie stars chose to live here… there’s a reason why. Come visit
@@pinoynation45832000-3000$ a month for a very small studio. Directly in manhattan if you are okay with 30-45 min train ride u can find studios in the Bronx or upper east side above 100th ave for 1250-1500$ a month
Wow, this really brings back memories. I was a punk rocker back in the late 80s and I passed through New York City once and stayed in an abandoned squat, it was quite interesting. My brother currently lives in New York City and never would’ve thought about doing anything like this as he walks back-and-forth from the train station to his apartment. Bravo 🎉 Thanks for the video!
I live in a small town in Poland where the street lights are off during late night to save electricity and it`s completely dark everywhere so you need to walk with the flashlight. I can`t believe that EU is forcing all of the countries to save energy when tons of electricity is wasted on billboards, citylights, adverts etc. in USA when nobody really need it at night.
It's so lit up you're right! Wasted electricity! Why don't they ever address this! I live 6miles west in NJ. Used to go to NYC for talk shows w/mom. A concert back in the day. But would never go there now. Too much bad news of mass shop lifting, migrants congesting areas. Tunnels and bridges $17! It gets scarier every year. Good point about wasting electricity. NJ is safer for me 😊
Of my many visits to NYC, I have never ventured out at 3 a.m. Thanks; it was very interesting to see. It makes me want to visit again, and it makes me a bit sad; there are so many homeless. Stay safe, man. I'm a new subscriber.
NYC is an awesome city! Just like any city we have our rough spots, I have seen improvement over the last few months. Awareness pushes for change. I am BULLISH NYC, please come back and visit. Thank you for watching!
I’m 40. From the northeast Bronx right by Coop City and Westchester. I used to go to the city EVERY WEEKEND for YEARS. I can’t believe what NYC has become. This video in the past would have you booking a trip here. Even at 3am there were such an amazing variety of people. Normal to expressive to everything else. What a shame.
Thank you soooo very much for uploading this video!!! And for sharing this comment, which I will explain shortly. I’m a born & raised New Yorker (who happens to also be an introvert 😅) About the footage: I am currently immobile and wheelchair bound (and female) so this footage is exactly the solution to my problem at this moment. I LOVE my (I said mine bc I currently know no other place as home) City!!! 🥰😍😘🗽🤩 As dirty and as critter infested as it may be at times. Being born and raised here I fully understand and appreciate that’s really not ALWAYS the case. There is some beauty along with it. And besides you HAVE to have the “bad” to truly appreciate the “good”. I’m honestly not looking for a debate here 😅 just adding in my 2 cents 😅 About the comment: You are sooo most definitely right but being that I am female and introverted, I find it currently much more relaxing and safe to enjoy this city in the very early hours and NEVER alone.
I work in Manhattan - midtown. It is declining daily with the amount of people wandering the streets and the pervasive mental health and substance abuse problems. It is scary even during the daytime hours. You should get some footage of major subway stations at 3AM - I am sure they turn into encampments. Thanks for the video!
@@ExperienceNewYorkCity you've got a new subscriber just for the fact you said you're doing the subways! LOVED this video too I absolutely love new York city it's my favourite city in the whole world and I've been lucky enough to have visited many countries and many cities
Was in NYC over Xmas and New Year. Walking the streets at this time without the tourist crowds was the best ...after 2 weeks of mess and noise and rude people I was happy to head home to beautiful clean green New Zealand !!!
Oh my god this gave me so many flash backs going there when I was a kid back in the 2000's when it was in its prime street performers, people, hotdog stands, stores selling knick knacks, busy streets and looking for somewhere to park just to walk around in awe of your surroundings I miss the good ol days if only I could go back in time I would kill for a hotdog back when that's all the stands sold along with a can of soda
Midtown used to be so vibrant at this time of night many people. The only area that looked like this was the Wall Street area. Now I'm going back to the 70s and 80s. It's kind of a shell of itself. We had a night club every other block and bars penny arcades and other social places. They are all gone now.
After covid pandemic, the city became super dead at night, it was still lively til at least 5 am, vivid happens and nyc was a ghost town at night and it seemed many people got use to the lockdown
I still remember quite vividly how hard NYC got hit by covid. A lot of people there didn't take it seriously and 100s of people were dying by the day. It was horrifying. Then as the weeks and months went by, people really became used to being inside all the time and that kind of lifestyle has become much more normal for a lot of people. Socializing was basically stopped in its tracks for a whole year. I still remember feeling such a bad vibe when covid was at its worst. It felt like there was a good chance we would never return to our old lives after that. I'm sure a lot of people felt the same way. It really altered the day to day routine for many people and it'll probably take quite some time before things go back to the way they were before covid. Also, it's not really all covid's fault, of course the internet and social media and handheld technology plays a major part in it all.
My grandma used to live in Jersey City and would take me to NYC sometimes. I was from a small town by the Jersey Shore and it was quite an awesome experience. I went to college in north Jersey and would frequently go to NYC in the late 90’s to about 2006 with my husband and first child. Sometimes I miss it. I forgot how much is going on at all hours of the day/night. I don’t know how people get used to the noise and lights. Great video! I now live in the south in a small town. I like visiting NYC but I couldn’t live there.
I lived in NYC for 17 years-recently got offered a job in the Midwest and took it. I would live in NYC any day of the week over where I am now...Man I miss it. The people, cultures, energy...there is nothing like it.
Sounds like Spiderman 2 the videogame is playing in the background when you hear the police sirens, car horns and everything in New York lol. Childhood memories playing that game for PS2. Great video by the way
Hi Ronald....what do you sugest he defends himself with ? In my opinion...don't go walking around at 3am with a camera....but hey.....what do i know....its midnight here, and its time to stop walking the streets for me. Stay safe
I remember being in NYC in 1960 and my cousin and I got our hair done at 3 in the morning and it was very busy in the streets! That's over 60 years ago! Wow!!!
I’m from the United Kingdom and visited New York last year. I really enjoyed it and definitely need to go back again at some point! I just subscribed-looking forward to more videos!
Thank you for watching and subscribing! NYC is awesome! We just have some rough spots like any other city. So much to do here and I am looking forward to your return!
Hello. I'm from Germany and I find it really interesting to experience a city like New York at night. But I also find it shocking how many homeless people sleep sitting on the street at night and how many other strange people are out and about. But it's no different here in Hamburg at night. New York is of course much bigger and busier. Thank you for these interesting insights into the city.
For someone who can't travel that far, this is like the next best thing. Thank you so much. Beautiful and haunting at the same time... the amount of homeless people and obvious people being UI is terrible to see..
The city that never sleeps. I got such a Gotham vibe from the Batman animated series, as a european these tall buildings and wide streets are so interesting. One of them buildings you coudn't see the end of it because of the clouds or smog. I wouldn't live in this city but I definetly would visit it once in a while. Stay safe!
When I was homeless I actually thought about sleeping on the NY streets. Truth be told: It's quite serene at 3AM in the morning. It's very safe too. People walk right past you, in their own world - it's (ironically) refreshing. You don't have to worry about anybody trying to do anything to you...plus the scenery **chef's kiss** You get to live in an upscale neighborhood rent free (at least that's how I looked at it).
I live in a tiny village in Cornwall, England. In 60 seconds from my front door in the countryside, 25 mins later I'm on the moors and at the lake. After midnight there's no streetlights on, it's quiet and dark, fair enough, there's nowhere to get a pizza at 3am, but I'll take that anyday. Edited to add: when I say 25 mins and I'm at the lake...that's in my wheelchair using my tri-ride T-rocks. Not using a car.
@@lostintheseventies7969 it's far more than that, it's a truly magical place, but it takes sacrifice to be at peace here. Even though it's very small, everything is far away and if you need all the convenience of modern life, then it's probably not for you, but if you like the idea of being marooned on a desert island, that is far from deserted....it's paradise. I like paradise. I can live with drizzle.
I live in Canada & this kind of sight seems to be in every city now, not just New York. Every morning when I go to work meth heads & people using fentanyl on the streets, in the subways, it’s scary & very sad.
I expected much worse. Looks like a lovely, enjoyable night stroll to me, almost family friendly! So much activity still, so many happy people. In many other cities in the world you'd have been bothered or worse for sure... I ❤ NY!
New York City can be nice and great if you have alot of money, but can be nightmare if you are broke, not a place to go to if you are poor, that's for sure, been there to visit in the past and never want to go back either, would rather visit on here by watching these videos, that's good enough for me
@@unknown66003Alabama is not so bad financially, the smaller towns have lower crimes and is cheaper to live. The bigger cities everywhere are bad in every way because of the larger population. NY is a breeding ground for crimes because of the higher end stores and wealther people, and it doesn't help the politicians are so corrupt.
I’m from a Los Angeles suburb and I haven’t been to New York yet but of course I want to see how the other half lives. I’m surprised to see women walking alone. I am surprised to see tourists with luggage😅 at 3 am. I am surprised to see people who don’t look homeless or strung out. I’m surprised to see vending carts open. I am surprised cops standing in a circle talking. I’m surprised to see tourists sightseeing.
.......yeah this looks a thousand times.....cleaner.......safer...... better.......than downtown LA.......but this appears to be shot around Times Square........ie where there are lots of people out......if you walk 10 blocks in any direction is it the same vibe???......I don't know......but I'd take this over say.......Hollywood Blvd.........hell l 'd take this over Disneyland.....
@@elizabethpeterson455nah San Francisco is better, at least SF has a chill vibe and an awesome quality of life. NYC has more of a "ghetto" feel and it's more street tough but you would have to go to all the new york city boroughs to know what I'm talking about. You will not experience the real NYC if you just stay in Manhatten.
The Dublin Donut omg..I remember before my husband and I got married I visited him but missed the bus and wanted to wait at Penn Station they told me I couldn’t sit down on the floor and either needed to get on the train or leave..I waited at the dining donut and the guy that worked there let me stay inside and gave me free coffee..he said there is a guy watching you and I don’t feel as if your safe stay inside until your bus come..and that is exactly what I did..my husband lived in the Bronx at the time that would have taken him sometime to get to me..one thing I won’t do that again and NY def do not sleep
Do you have any idea how many billions would be lost if they turned off all those ads at night!!? 😂 New york’s economy would crumble in an instant. I’d like to think i’m wrong but something tells me that ads are probably the biggest money maker in that city since you litterally can’t escape them.
I visited NYC and was out walking like this at 3am in the Times Square area just roaming. I felt safe and saw lots of thing. I was alone but it was cool
You should bring a friend with you when you’re shooting videos for protection. Just in case, some of them people are pretty sketchy, you need someone to watch your back
I used to work for the MTA overnight in the subways and it was never like it is today. It was full of life tourists and happiness. Occasionally problems would occur nothing like it is today.
It must suck to live in a place where it's ALWAYS light. There's so much light pollution that the sky hardly looks dark. I live in the complete opposite of New Yorkers, I live in the country with wide open pastures and trees and grass so green it's almost blinding, but so beautiful. And it's sooo quiet here. And when it rains it's the only noisy thing around here.
I’m a native New York. I’ve been living here since I was born, and even with all the experiences I’ve had in this city. It’s a lot more peaceful than I expected. I will warn you if you decide to do this, you don’t want to avoid the crazy people who are high, you want to avoid the crazy people that aren’t.
Asphalt and concrete. Lights. People enjoying drinks and conversation on the sidewalk. People are able to walk freely and safely and conduct their daily/nightly routines- even at 3AM. From Africa, NYC looks like heaven on earth.
Maybe closing the mental hospitals and giving mentally-ill street people the right to refuse treatment and a shelter for the night has something to do with these vulnerable people wandering the street.
I think homeless shelters don't allow drug use, so a lot of the addicts choose to be on the streets to continue doing drugs rather than have a roof over their heads.
@@norskibull2.021 that or have an extortion rackets based upon religious being the most relevant since mentally ill are the easiest to be duped, especially in jail. Heard Georgia and Texas got caught for some stuff. Stay safe
You're 100% right. It's way better now than it was even a few months ago. Though in my experience, Midtown didn't really get very bad. We still have a lot of work to do in getting the city back to her old glory, but walking at 3am is a lot safer now than it was.
I want this kind of Freedom. Freely walking the street at 3 AM with no one bother, and doing my own things outside on the street at 3 AM with no one care 😁. And we need more of this kind of videos on RU-vid: raw, authentic, and looks like a real life.
1:00 - BRO💯I just had to let you know that opening scene where you panned down from the misty skyscraper to the street life was literally top tier cinematography like seriously that looked sooooo good and smooth and like it was shot & viewed in 8K for the opening scene of a new marble movie... lol sorry but I Just had to let u know 💁🏼♀️😅 bc literally like I was watching RU-vid & somehow all of a sudden I wasn’t sure if I was still watching your YT video or if I had started playing GTA and me and Franklin were going on a side quest😂😂😂😭😭😭💯
Seeing families walking around kids wide awake like its the middle of the day is crazy. But then I'm from small town western australia. Would love to visit nyc one day
I'm from rural Maryland so this right here would give me a heart attack !! all the noises, lights and people at 3am ?! yeah this too much for me lol too much going on stuff I'm not use to 😂
I'm from Australia and am surprised this looks quiet and pretty safe. I think in Perth Australia there are just as many homeless. A dream of mine to go to New York at Christmas ❤
The American Dream? What do American politicians actually do? Every country has its issues, but the U.S.A claims to be the greatest country on Earth! DOH!!!
It’s only in the huge city centers where the freaks are out like this. New York isn’t the entire country. I’m from the south shore of Staten Island which is in the same city as Manhattan and it’s far more peaceful, safe, and quiet at night.
Trash everywhere. While trash can is just stone away. People have no discipline. Trying seeing BGC Of the Philippines, it is like a mini New York but very clean and green.
Thanks for sharing this video. Brought me many memories when I used walk down to times square every summer with the family. Sad to say I have not been down there for a couple of years now. Everything has change and not for better. I still love the city.
I was just thinking how fortunate folks are in Manhattan to have a home to go to and lay their heads down on a pillow in a room way up above this mess at 3AM. Gives me a new appreciation for what I’ve been able to secure during my lifetime. With all the empty office towers in New York, you would think that…. but then… here we are.
I visited Din Tai Fung on Sept 11th last month. First time to NYC. Overall impressions was a busy city but respected the hustle. People were fairly nice for the most part. We stopped in central park after lunch and it was interesting to see tranquility in the park but also the sounds of the city in the background. Neat perspective to see the same route we traveled from Penn station to the Park but at 3am. Thanks for the video!
