The one place I always wanted to visit during Christmas? New York City! I've been to this concrete jungle in the past but there's something about NYC during Christmas that's magical. I actually wanted it to snow at least once while I was there but it only happened right after I left the city in the new year!
We had a wonderful stay at the Kimpton Hotel Eventi in Chelsea. It's within walking distance to every must-visit location on my list and since it's so close to Koreatown, there are plenty of food options that are conveniently just a few blocks away. We took an early flight out of San Diego so we could enjoy at least half a day in the city. Little did we know that waiting for our luggage (it took over 30 minutes before any baggage appeared on the carousel) and traffic into Manhattan would be a nightmare. We were starving at this point so we decided to Uber Eats Korean food. Of course we had to walk it off so we went to Macy's in Herald Square.
The following day, we slept in and got pizza for lunch. We then did a quick outfit change and went down Fifth Avenue. The sheer number of stores up and down the street on either side progressively increases as you continue north. You immediately know you're in the center of the action when you're walking shoulder to shoulder with strangers through each intersection. It gets incredibly congested when the Saks x Dior light show begins at 5PM. What doesn't help is the fact that the Rockefeller Center and it's beautiful Christmas tree is right across from it. If you find yourself there during the holiday, link up or the odds of you being separated from your group is nearly 100%... especially if you're short!
I expected NYC to be crowded during Christmas but this was next level. Fortunately, Times Square was not as crowded as Fifth Avenue. There are patches of air where you can actually take pictures and not be engulfed by people!
