You get desensitized from the death ... I know I did .. but you also need a mental , emotional and physical outlet .. hence a good hobby , working out , martial arts , etc hence back in the day you did “ choir practice “ I’m not saying it was the best thing to do , but it was an emotional outlet with your peers ... that’s the way you had an emotional Release back in the day ..
These were proper cops. Ten years after this was made I saw an NYPD Policewoman walking on the beat in Manhattan. She was so small that her nightstick on her belt was almost touching the ground.

No, because back those days the department did not supply bulletproof vests to their officers. The officers had to buy their own bulletproof vests and if the department decided to buy the officers bulletproof vests it would probably only be for guys that are on the Emergency Service Unit (Swat Team).
