Congrats and way to go. What's helped me run my 40 marathons is "the miracle isn't that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start." You are a winner and a champ.
So I’ve been doing research on NYC marathons. Reading and watching videos and I’ll say this….. This video made me cry, your strength and determination are second to none. She said there’s a medal waiting for me and I’m gunna go get it. That’s damn right!!! YOU ARE A TRUE INSPIRATION!!!
I agree. I am running NYC 2023 in less than a month and just looking at videos and getting all hyped up. You are so cute, Lexie!! I love your smile. I watched this while running on my treadmill and was smiling (and crying - I don’t recommend that part) along with you. You’re amazing!! Your perseverance and attitude are an inspiration. Way to go!! Congratulations!!!
Congratulations! I was there too with my first marathon. I finished while dark and I was crying just like you. It was so emotional for me and obviously for you. From one back of the pack gal to another. YOU DID IT!!! YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!
I'm binging a bunch of NYC Marathon videos, as my partner just got in so I'm flying over to support but I can tell you something, as excited as I am to watch him speed his way through the 26.2 miles and be super proud of him I CANNOT WAIT to also head back out onto the streets and cheer on the back of the packers who run at speeds like me, and be in awe of you all managing the distance!! I'm tearing up to your video, I just adore the people like you who surround me at races (No way am I ready for 26 miles, I'm still on the 10K distance lol!) - what a celebration!!
Im in the middle of my training and jist wanted to say you are such an inspiration. I was crying throughout your video. Thank you for sharing and thank you for being you.
Congratulations. You should be so proud of yourself. You had a goal and you achieved it. You are now part of a very elite club,The one percent of the population that has completed a marathon! You had me tearing up.
Lexie, you rock!! I loved seeing the race from your perspective! This is my number one bucket list race and it was so awesome to see your experience at the back of the pack, which is where I will be. When I could hear you sobbing near the end, I was crying with you!! Amazing job!!
Just AMAZING!! Your strength, determination and upbeat attitude was incredible to watch. Thank you for sharing your NYC marathon experience with us. How inspiring 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
Awww Lexie!!! You made me cry again ❤ Thank you for being an inspiration to us, back of the pack runners. I know this is late, but congratulations again 🎉❤
So amazing!. That was a hard earned and well-deserved medal. Huge congratulations and massive respect. 26.2 miles is intense, especially in the heat, whatever your time you finished. Love this video 🎉❤
I was laughing at you first cuz your pace seemed too slow and then I cried with you at the end (i genuinely don’t cry) Finishing 26 miles no matter how you do it is no easy feat. This is what I needed for my upcoming marathon in Nov. thank you for sharing and congrats again.
100 thumbs up! You are quite an inspiration. There are plenty of people who didn't have the courage to start. You did and finished it. I even cried a bit with you at the end. Hope you do well in your future endeavors.
You did it Lexie! So inspiring and you should be extremely proud of yourself. I am doing the dopey challenge in January as a newer runner and watching you and Jacks channel as well as listening to the podcast has been so instrumental in keeping me going during training. I have been struggling as a back of the packer wondering if I will be able to complete this challenge, but this video shows with hard work you can achieve your dreams. I hope to run into you both at marathon weekend and maybe even get to conquer some of the miles together on the dopey courses. Way to go and thank you for sharing the journey.
Congratulations!! 🎉 The yt algorithm showed me your video, and I couldn't stop watching! You and your joy are contagious so keep running and inspiring! 🌟 I am not a runner, but live in Brooklyn and did go out and cheer you all on😊 And I am so glad you received big doses of New Yorker love & spirit along your way! Keep smiling & carry on🙂
Congratulations Lexie! So awesome. Well done. One of the best videos about NYC marathon. So encouraging. Your beautiful face will keep me going as I attempt the Honolulu marathon in a couple of weeks. Congrats again. What an inspiration!
I can see me with my GoPro in the background at 2:24!! Congratulations on finishing! My first marathon too, such a wild experience. Love the vibes of this video, really inspiring to watch this and be able to appreciate the accomplishment that much more, thank you for sharing this!
I was looking for marathon videos as I am doing my first in 3 months and I must say that I absolutely love your positivity, you're always smiling! Well done, you should be extremely proud of yourself :)
I am a mid-pack runner but I am so blown away by your determination and strength! You are amazing and really an inspiration. What a great attitude you have.
Huge congratulations! I starting crying with you when you crossed the finish line! It brought me back to when I completed my first marathon. Such a feeling of accomplishment and pride. SO PROUD OF YOU!
Congratulations on finishing the NYC Marathon. I love your positivity and determination. I’ve just returned from that race and it was a tough day out. Oh, so worth it though. Well done 👏🏻🥇. New Subscriber here 👍🏻
I am so proud of you!!! I cried my eyes out watching this video and it’s inspired me to do the NYC marathon!!! Thank you for being so courageous and strong.
OMG, I saw you crossing the finish line!!!!... I went back to the finish line after a showr and dinner to cheer on those amazing runners... you back of the pack runners are another level of inspiration... great job on a hot and humid day and congratulations on your 1 star!!! 5 nore to go lady
@@cathynewyork7918 well the good thing about running is that you can always work on getting faster. Just because something is "difficult" doesn't mean "don't try". That's no reason to cut down on someone's goals or aspirations.
@@passporttorun Yes, she can always get faster. I have gotten faster in marathons myself - but she needs to be realistic about whether she can do Chicago in their six and a half hour cutoff, or qualify for Boston which requires a 4-something marathon, depending on her age group, if she is now doing an eight-hour marathon. Dream, yes, but be realistic.
@@cathynewyork7918 the "she" you are referring to is me...I know exactly the pace I am currently running, and I know exactly the pace requirements for the other 5 majors. I'm not going to argue with you. All I'm going to say is....WATCH ME.
Congratulations!!!! Amazing, absolutely inspirational to all and especially to those wondering Can I? Could I? Should I? about ANYTHING in their lives! I'm betting you will medal again, but this one will always be the one you will cherish most knowing you set out and accomplished an unbelievable goal and inspired so so many.
Omg Lexie😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️ I am SOBBING! Congratulations! So happy we could be there to cheer you on! I really thought I said kick some asphalt…😂😂😂Either way, you DID THE DANG THING! ❤❤❤
You did it! I was so happy to see your Facebook post letting us all know you were on track to get in...I'm so happy for you.....Total Grit and Grace.... Your First Star! It was a hot day for sure out there...and you fought Hard for it! Congratulations!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much for your video of your event! It was beautiful. You are amazing. I’m lying in bed recovering from COVID, watching as much as I can about my bucket list event … and now I’m smiling, laughing, crying, blubbering. Congratulations on completing the NYCM and your first star! 👍👊💜🏃♀️
Greeting from New Zealand. Great video thanks for sharing, I was lucky enough to participate this year so it was cool to see and remember. Great effort, well done!!
Congrats... thanks for this video. So many memories flooding back to me from this. Just awesome to relive it through your work! Thanks! 10:29.... this is my favorite neighborhood of the course ---- Oh man, that was awesome. I was DONE around 10k, then I got a second wind there. about 8 minutes: I remember that "you have stamina, call me" sign! Hilarious. They didn't leave a number though!!! 12:28- 13 miles... knew I was done! That was a hard several moments thinking "what do I do now... can't just walk away! And if I'm walking away, why not just keep walking forward instead?" 14:08 - Lightheaded, Yes. And feet feel like they are just exploding in the shoes. BUT -- you are wrong! Coming off the Queensboro bridge you FEEEEEEEEEEEEL The Crowds! Not just hear! I can't believe how loud that was. Unreal. 16:00ish - I don't remember ANYTHING from about miles 18-20. Nothing. None of that looks familiar. The Lightheaded is REAL! 20-21: You finished! AMAZING!!!! I didn't record nothing, but I'm pretty sure I may have reacted very much the same way. Did I thank you yet for posting this? Thank you.
P.S. I'm also a back of the packer (BIB 24101), so your video hit me harder than most others I'm watching. I'm kind of soaking a ton in, and they are all good. But yours is way truer to my experience and so cool to watch. Did I say thank you yet? Thank you.
Congrats! You’re super inspiring and I love your personality and attitude 👍👍 I’m running my first marathon next April and thx for sharing your journey 🥰
Massive well done! Incredible achievement! You had me at the end! I hope this is your first of many! NY marathon is my dream but I’ve been a bit freaked out by the cut off time. But you’ve definitely proved it is possible with the determination! Well done 😊
You can do it! I was worried about the cutoff time too, but the important thing to me was just putting one foot in front of the other and never stopping! :)
The NYC Marathon has a more generous cut-off time than any other marathon I have done. The official cut-off time for the NYC Marathon this year was 8:30 p.m. Wave 5, the last wave, started at 11:30 a.m., so that gives nine hours to finish the race. Chicago cuts off at six and a half hours. NYC is very generous.
I did the virtual 2021 NYC marathon with a guaranteed entry to the live race in 2022. I'm not sure if they are doing that program again, but it was awesome!
You are amazing! Great job! I am crying with you…. I just signed up for my first 10k and half a marathon in 2023! I just want to finish within the allotted time. Can I ask what your time was?
First 10k and half is so exciting!! Best of luck to you! My official time was 8:01:33. The last half of the race was really hilly, and that killed my time. But I am still so proud of this race!
Congratulation i got my first star in Chicago this year. Keep consistence thats the key. I hear that was very hot and 7k people didnt finish? You should be proud.
Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉🎉You did amazing!!!! Well deserved. And with a big smile on your face!!! Awesome job! Very inspiring! I was there too! Priceless experience!!! Thank you for sharing!!!
You can definitely get there later, but I know there was a major backup with the ferry this year. Earlier is better. I did choose to take a bus with my training group that was super early, but it cut down on the stress I felt trying to get to the start.
She is right -- this year at the NYC Marathon, there was a terrible back-up with the buses taking people from the ferry to the start area. If you do this NYC Marathon, do what I do -- choose the option of the chartered marathon buses from the NY Public Library at 42nd Street and 5th Avenue. You get on the bus at the library, and get off at the marathon start. No mid-trip transfer from ferry to bus. If you're accepted in the marathon, a month or two after acceptance they will email you to tell you to log in and choose which option you want, the library bus or the ferry. There will be various departure times to choose from. Go earlier rather than later to be sure you have enough time. If you want to see the ferry-bus mess yourself, go to the channel "Christian Runs NY" and watch the last few minutes of his video entitled "I couldn't finish the NYC Marathon." He shows and talks about the ferry-bus problem, and said many runners missed their start wave.
Congratulations! Watching this video brought back so many emotions. It’s a tough course, especially for the runners in the last wave (I tackled it 2021, last wave too!), even more so as it gets dark. I’m so proud of you and so so happy for you. Congrats again!!
