I wish they kept the original names for 2 Avenue and Jay St Would be nice to hear This is a Lower E Side-2 Avenue bound C or A train now Also what train announced the transfers at 36 St saying MN&R trains? Probably an R160 D?
As a matter of fact, some 6 trains still carry the old announcements despite the fact that their strip maps are updated. I was riding on the 6 to Brooklyn Bridge, and apparently, the announcement track had the W train at Lexington and at Union square. I do not remember what was the train number though, but you have to see it for yourself.
I’m sure every NTT announcement is still in these. I’m guessing 5-car sets of R160s and R179s do not have announcements for stations where 600-foot trains don’t fit, and all BMT-IND models don’t have IRT announcements, and the 6-car sets of R188s only have the 7 and B division lines, since IRT cars can fit in BMT and IND tunnels, but with a giant gap between the doors and platform. The R110 prototypes only have their line, R110A having the 2 and 5, and R110B having the A and C.
nice video and for the W train will be back this December since Q train is going 96th Street 2nd Avenue therefore the 59th street announcement needs to say a free out of system transfer is available the F & Q trains by walking to Lexington Avenue 63rd Street Station and using your MetroCard
The W program still exists in the R160's they use for the JMZ. I saw during rush hour today when I was walking to the Jamaica Center exit at the far end of the station. There was an operator and he was messing around with the control and changed it to (W) right in front of my eyes.
Well back in 2001, the orange Q train used to stop at Bleecker street! Then it was the V train that used to stop at Bleecker street! Now today, the orange M train stops at Bleecker street!
Which is the MAIN reason why jobs were cut, lines were cut, and fewer trains on rush hours and weekends, as well as the stations being alot dirter since alot of custodians/maintance people got their jobs cut off
The 9 was discontinued in 2005. These announcements originated from after that year. Besides, there are some announcements that wouldn't have been heard when the 9 train was around (You know, the B-Division... They never got NTT until 2006/2007!) (Just kidding. The R143 existed before then, and was an NTT)
thats because the politentions are not spending the money wisely and declare that the mta is in a ''deficiet''. We the taxpayers spend alot of money on taxes and part of it goes to the mta ( capital projects, etc). MTA has the money to spend but they just dont do it, Better them than us.
