nyc vlog | eating at a restaurant alone, giving up alcohol for a year 

it's weird saying that I'm "sober". it's weird how I can go out and be constantly shoved drinks in my face and the bartender won't back off until I say that I'm "sober". it's weird how normal it is to use alcohol as a means to "loosen up". for a while, I didn't want to admit my giving up of this socially normalized activity because I felt like a prick and I didn't want my friends who do drink to think that I'm ever judging them- this was purely a personal choice because I saw how even just the slightest bit made me feel off.
I hope the realizations that I've made about my healing journey through sobriety help encourage a more normalized nondrinking culture. build that trust within yourself to know that you are enough without succumbing to social pressures.
