@@ForrestFox626 Excuse me, but I don't understand. Do you think his first contest win was obscure and meaningless? That he has been able to make a living in a tough world is remarkable. As another Italian-American, I am proud of him.
I was just thinking, wow he's a great dancer, and then I realized, he's deaf!? That's crazy when he can't hear the beat, how does he do it 😮 He's a legend!
thiiit agreed a 100% about Nyle but PETA deserves the same praise. I mean that girl has never been partnered with a deaf person but she taught him like she’s been teaching people that are deaf all her life.
@@rosieazatyan5923 Let's not put TOO much credit on her - he had to waste time convincing her to actually try to teach him since she didn't think he could do it. He talked about it in this talk I went to.
Just finished Nyle’s book. This man is simply incredible! Never seen DWTS and to see all of their dances after reading the stories of them all oh my. The Disturbed song too! So brilliant! ‘Deaf dancer makes millions speechless’
He can only hear it on stage and not wile practicing. I heard an interview a wile ago he and his partner had cues. Such as her scratching his back, I think that meant go faster. Been a wile since I've seen the interview.
Very simple.. he keep eye on color light when he aware the light beam., Adjust changed each time while he have to changes their dances each time with color lights. Myself I am deaf. too...
I still get chills during his Paso when the music and all sound is cut out and for those few seconds we are in his shoes…he truly is a beautiful dancer, I remember being sooo happy when he won ❤️
Britt Stewart and her partner Daniel Durant did that this season as Daniel is also deaf! I didn’t realize until I found this video that it had happened before
@@d.wright6635 No, His deaf mother have a children along with second husband. You misinformation. I knew you are unaware, See this link www.mixedarticle.com/nyle-dimarco/
@@margaretadamski1876 It's not misinformation. Nyle's mom may have remarried later on and had another child, but when he was growing up, she was a single mother. His parents split up. He discusses this on America's Next Top Model. It comes up in the episode where the top 4 contestants' mothers visit and do a photoshoot with them.
Each time a watch Nyle's videos dancing i wish he could hear because i think he would notice how perfectly he connects his dance with music. Post data: he hasn' 0 mistakes
Hands down, my favorite DWTS pairing. For me, it's that moment in the Paso Doble where they cut the audio. Really drives home how ever-loving HARD what Nyle is doing actually IS. And he makes it look effortless, to boot. L E G E N D.
What a sight to behold. He was pretty much flawless in week 1, he was not playing around. Also the thing I love most about Nyle is the ever present grin as though there's a joke only he is in on. Amazing job on the show.
This dancing would be some of the best in the shows history if he had superpowered hearing... to pull this off, I just... damn, no one else on this series will ever have a single excuse because he just did the damn thing
Omg, he did that with sheer memory, rhythm sense, instinct! And signals from his experienced and hearing dance partner of course. He declined to have the vibrations amplified 'cause that's not his thing: he lives and dances better in silence. The vibrations just distract him, he explained in an interview. Frikkin a-ma-zing. I mean i saw it on this video like 9 times consecutive and i still find it hard to wrap my hearing head around that he didn't hear the music or felt the beat, but that's it people, he is a crazy hard working determined sexy deaf genius. And a helluva dancer. He has all my respect. 🙇♀️
But he did not! I am reading his book and he explained that he tried doing that but it was too confusing. He did not want to hear, even faintly, the music at all nor the vibration. So he and his dancer developed a series of physical cues (eyes & head movements, tap on shoulder, squeeze of hand…). He also explained that he counted a lot in his head.
I can’t get over their freestyle.. the choreography is amazing and the SONG. The Sound of Silence. THATS THE SONG NAME. It’s beautiful, and the work that the two put into dancing with each other it just absolutely stunning
The week 9 dance is even more incredible knowing that he’s deaf. Imagine being able to keep perfect time with someone you can’t see or hear to music you can’t hear. This man is a true legend.
They won the mirror ball trophy that year (2016), and deserved it. Five years later, in 2021, Strictly Come Dancing, the original British version, teamed professional dancer Giovanni Pernice with deaf British actress Rose Ayling-Ellis. They also won the glitter ball trophy and deserved it. The British said they made history. Perhaps they did in Great Britain, but the Americans did it first.
Bless Nyle for going for it! Bless him for working so hard! I think he wanted to this for himself for sure, but I also think he took to heart what it could mean for deaf people if he went far in the competition. I think winning was more serious business to him than many former or subsequent amateur competitors and he was rewarded with the win. His presence and success on this season of Dancing with the Stars forever gives the deaf community a deaf icon to point to when people question their capabilities. Also, bless Peta for recognizing his determination and skill potential. Bless her for correctly making the decision to challenge Nyle with her choreography and not waste a dance playing it safe with him! The jive performance with the mistakes has more meaning than any other shaky performance on DWTS because it shows that both Nyle and Peta were absolutely ready to risk pushing themselves and failing for the chance to blow people away. And they did! So very much! Their freestyle dance was a gorgeous masterpiece! Art in motion, as dance should be. The fact that the Nyle is deaf just makes him the Van Gogh of amateur dancers! :)
@@elisamason4836. Not only that but Peta was also pregnant during this season! She even had her now-husband Maks come in and help Nyle see and understand how the guy is supposed to look in ballroom dancing, she’s an amazing pro!
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!What a great dancer Nyle is!!! He is just absolutely amazing to watch!!! He dances way better than most people who can hear!! Love! Love! Love!!
I appreciated the music shutting off the music when he was dancing alone with the 4 other male dancers around him that a taste of what he doesn't hear with movement & sounds all around him. Be grateful!
I've just discovered Nyle. He was a guest on a podcast I listen to. I picked up his book. He's amazing! His enthusiasm for Deaf culture is infectious. I have no ties to the Deaf community, but I'm sure now I'll fall down a rabbit hole discovering more about it (and him)!
I’m glad my job lets me protect things like this. It’s a bit of a stretch but it’s a good enough reason to put on my uniform day after day. This is hope and determination at its finest.
The blind fold And free style dance was the best dance he did but overall for being deaf and not able to hear anything he did amazing I’m glad he won this season

One of the best winners from DWTS, my all time favorite.♥
He is amazing. ! Beautiful inside and out an extremely talented! I can’t see Mike doing any of this! He is an entertainer too!!!!!!!!!! Great looking as well❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
She did so much to make Nyle look his best 😊. Calling out the judges for their musicality comments, learning ASL to communicate and teach Nyle, challenging him with stuff like the blindfold, having her pro dancer husband in rehearsals so that Nyle could get a better visual on how he should look when dancing with Peta, getting a professional contemporary choreographer to create their Freestyle to best reflect Nyle, etc. NTM she did all of that in her first pregnancy trimester! The level of commitment in that woman is just incredible!
Nyle and Peta are absolutely my favorites of all times their dances are impeccable their chemistry they were just wow 👍🏾👍🏾👏🏾❤️❤️🙏🏾🙏🏾 god bless Nyles always and he is so good looking 👍🏾👍🏾👏🏾❤️
These two have been my favorite from the time I started watching this show. I've really liked alot of the other couples throughout the seasons but Nyle and Peta are still my favorites!
No puedo creer que Nyle sea tan talentoso, de verdad que lo admiro demasiado, el en verdad es un ejemplo de persona a seguir :(( me pone tan soft, lo amo tanto😻😻
Ppl will always think being deaf or blind is a disadvantage when it comes to competitions but u be completely wrong. Nyle may be deaf but don't forget dance is mostly done through counted steps and muscle control before the music. If you don't get any of these right before the music, then most likely u will look like a running goose on the dance floor. In a way, this part of dance makes it a huge advantage for Nyle for he can focus on steps better than music. While most depend on music to make the dance look good, it's what u learn without music that makes up ur dancing ability.
What I don’t get is how they even communicated to rehearse everything. It must have been so much more difficult for them than all the other partners. Amazing amount of work and patience went into this.
About a year ago I saw the YT video with the Finals dance. I didn’t know this video existed. Wow, I’m so glad I found it. Thank you for compiling it @maria Elena Guevara.
So for those of you that don’t know or realize, deafness is based on a decibel level. Nyle Dimarco probably has decibel loss that’s low enough for him to able to hear the bass sounds in music. While he can’t hear the range of people talking, which are in the higher decibel range, it is likely that he is able to still hear lower decibel sounds, such as jackhammers, bass guitars or drums, and train riding a track. So not all deaf people hear absolutely nothing ever. It’s different for everyone
Its really something to see that he did very well at first with dances he didnt have close contact with his partner while some of the close up dances he didnt have as good of a line/more mushy looking knees. By the point they got to the dance with the youtube song he was extending his legs more and being alot more smooth
