2022 NYO-USA Faculty Member Titus Underwood, Principal Oboe of the Nashville Symphony, leads a sectional on Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 with NYO-USA oboists.
This summer’s NYO-USA comprises 109 members-ages 16-19 and hailing from 34 US states-who have been recognized by Carnegie Hall as some of the finest players in the country following a comprehensive national audition process. In preparation for its performance activities in the New York area and abroad, NYO-USA will once again work with an impressive list of principal players from many of the nation’s top professional orchestras during its training residency at Purchase College, State University of New York (SUNY).
Following an intensive two-week residency and a concert at Carnegie Hall on July 29, this incredible group of instrumentalists, led this summer by Daniel Harding and joined by guest cellist Alisa Weilerstein, will embark on a four-city European tour, performing Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 and Elgar’s Cello Concerto at Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam; the Young Euro Classic festival at Konzerthaus Berlin; the Ravello Festival; and the Lucerne Festival.
