They use Irish because being a cop in America way back in the day was like being less than a fast food employee. They got not much pay and treated like a joke. People used to spit on them and throw urine out of a pot out the window on them. It was bad. All they carried was a baton. The incoming Irish immigrants were treated like shit in America and that was the only jobs they could get. That's why when you see movies about NYC and the old times, the cops always had Irish accents. The NYPD didn't forget their roots and struggles to get respected.
The Gardai wouldn't have marched like that during their training in Templemore Co. Tipperary. No Cop marching in formation. The Irish Army and reserves wouldn't march like that
