@@darrenheadrick3669 Andy and Bobby definitely were much more equals and like brothers. I liked his subsequent partners of Danny and Junior but the dynamic between them and Andy was much more father/son.
One of the incredible things about NYPD Blue is that the show lost its lead character after a single season and not only is the show able to recover but in fact improve over the next 5 seasons.
Shots being fired in a Precinct house, makes Cops start swarming and lose their shit, like someone hitting an Angry Hornets nest with a large stick!! "Hey Bobby, is this the welcome you were expecting?! Never a dull day in the 15th Squad!"
And with a gruff " Yah, " Andy begins a bond with Bobby that will change him in so many ways. Simone and the glasses will both give Andy a new outlook!
In the words of Whitney Houston "Ahh, that's History!" Of course, Andy's being unreceptive to change. And the drama never fails not to happen in the 15th. All was missing was Andy saying, "I'm getting too old for this." 🤣
I just finished with season 6 episode where Bobby dies. How I long for the day I was at this episode in this video. Bobby and Andy were like a well oiled machine, trying to watch Sorensen in S6 is making me wanna throw up
I've always wanted to know why Dennis Franz didn't move up to getting the first billing in the opening credits after Caruso left. They put Jimmy Smits first instead.
Because at the time, nobody thought that an older, fat, and let's face it, not great looking actor could carry a show. They thought that they needed good looking young actors (Caruso and Smits - over from L.A. Law TV show) to keep the boat afloat, so they got top billing. LOL, I think they lacked faith in the writing for the show. Still who would have thought that someone that looks like Dennis Franz could carry a show thru good writing, good story, character development and fantastic acting? Dennis Franz and the show won awards due to all of those factors, but our friend Andy was carrying most of that weight. But, that's Hollywood for ya. It took them a while to come around to the idea that it's CHARACTER that wins the day (and audience), and not just some hot young actor(s).
According to the late Steven Bochco in an interview Milch saw the crazy 🤪 straight away in one of the first meetings with Caruso. He said no don't do this to me. I know crazy he's crazy. Bochco said he saw the train wreck instantly. But let's face it he made that first season. It was strange to see a main character come back and do season 2 and leave after 4 episodes. I believe Smits was first choice for John Kelly 🤔
Hi, I’m Bobby Simone. I’m a fantasy character with no background and no faults. I will exhibit no growth of any kind and will forever be practically perfect in every way. I will even return in a later series episode as an actual angel.
That loser was incredibly strong, if he held off Fancy while tossing Sipowicz across the room (which never happened elsewhere), and then it took Fancy AND Simone to overpower him. He was way stronger than he looked. Like a Chimpanzee or something.
The number of times people pulled guns inside the squadroom seems awfully high. For that matter, the number of times *cops* pulled guns on each other inside the squadroom seems awfully high.
I love and miss these old shows! This is before the new generation started taking over. Now its all safe-space, pronouns, rainbows and me me me. I liked the old world better!! 😔
Good for the TV show and probably was the way things were back then. Now, nobody but NOBODY should go to the back of a cop station without going through a metal detector. Too many nut cases like this drunk out there with guns. I'm a really pro second amendment guy. GOA member and TFA in my home state of TN, but I'll just as quickly point out that there are a lot of people out there who should never have a gun.
The sad part about this is both Smits and later Schroeder quit the show based on the insanity behind the scenes and of course Caruso was forced out. And this scene reminds us all how insane that squad room was. How much violence, shootings and deaths occurred there in 12 years?
