I loved NYPD Blue from day one, the stand alone episodes and the major story arcs were always incredible. This episode began on such a whimsical note, it didn't foreshadow the darkness and the spectrum of emotions to come. Andy's character development and growth from a drunk spiraling into the abyss to a father figure and mentor, virtually the glue that kept everyone and everything together is a life lesson of second chances and redemption.

Its a show that's definitely in the discsussion for being one of the best shows of all time, but that's a subjective term. To you its the best show of all time but the people on Breaking Bad, The Wire, The Shield, The Sopranos etc are saying the same thing about their shows. Just to be in the discussion of best show of all time should be sufficient enoguh.

This is a good episode from late in the show's run. Look at all that talent behind the scenes. Mark Tinker directed this episode. He started on The White Shadow then went on to St. Elsewhere and ended up on NYPD Blue. Bob Doherty who produced this went on to create Elementary. Nicholas Wootton, who wrote this episode, created Scorpion along with Matt Olmstead who also produced this. A lot of very talented people, still very hot today, all worked on this show. And this is the 10th season! Think about who worked on the earlier episodes.

In January 2008, the FCC announced that they would seek a $1.4 million fine against ABC for the opening sequence of this episode, in which Theo Sipowicz walks in on a nude Connie in the bathroom preparing to take a shower. The scene featured full rear nudity and partial frontal nudity on the part of actress Charlotte Ross. The complaint alleged that the nude shot of Ross was held onscreen longer than it should have been, and that Ross' character didn't react fast enough to cover herself. The fine was the largest against a network in recent history. ABC said they would appeal the fine on the grounds that it came over five years after the episode was originally broadcast. If they failed, each of 52 affiliates would pay $27,500 for broadcasting the episode. On January 4, 2011, the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals threw out the fine, citing FCC rules as 'unconstitutionally vague and chilling'. [ABC, Inc., et al. v. Federal Communications Commission, No. 08-0841-ag(L) (2nd Cir.)]
