For anyone interested, since posting this video we've learnt from some viewers that there was a new castle built only a few years ago called Riverstone Castle which is in Oamaru, but there's also a derelict one called Cargill's Castle that's not so well known which is also in Dunedin although seems like it's off limits due to its state!
Love Castles! One of the main reasons why we went to Romania, and why we have to go back! hahaha Great discount, guys! Incredible views, that would be one of my favorite spots too, Peter. My imagination in those historical places always goes/went wild since I was a child as well. Lieles is falling in love with history more and more. We absolutely love animals too! What an awesome experience guys, sand and all 😍😍 Wonderful Airbnb, love when the host leave some treats. It is always great touch because if for any reason you arrive late and don't find food before arriving, at least you can munch on something.
😁 is there anywhere that stands out in particular for you, considering all the places that you've been to where your imagination has just gone into overdrive?
@@PeterandYen There are some "hotels" in Spain called Paradores, they are restored historical buildings and in some cases old palaces. Those are the ones where my imagination goes crazy. Because I can picture different parts of history. One of my favorite books is "Pillars of the Earth" and even I adjust some of the stories I read from that book to anything that looks medieval or renacentist
Glad you've been enjoying them Geoff! 🙂👍 Unfortunately we've been stuck in Auckland's lockdown since finishing this South Island trip so haven't been able to travel around the NZ for some time but hopefully we'll be able too again soon 🤞
sorry been missing your videos was in hospital after an accident never knew New Zealand had a castle has nice grounds castle is amazing inside see the sand is blown around by that wind nice seeing the sea lions bet that wind is cutting right through you those noodles look tasty *you have a like👍Au👍always a full watch*
Thanks for showing Larnach Castle. I stayed there on my first trip to Dunedin. The memory of climbing the spiral stairs to view the scenery still stays. Must make another visit!
Dunedin 😍😍 This vlog is definitely bringing back our memories of visiting this cool city in 2019. We also visited during wintertime. So it was very cold too haha. Nice scarf, Yen! That should warm you up. Larnach Castle 😍 it's still as beautiful as we remember. It's a nice reward that the castle exploration ends with a stunning view from the balcony after climbing those spiral stairs.
@@PeterandYen For Dunedin, definitely visiting Baldwin Street, the world's steepest street! haha. When we were there the title was just claimed by another street in Wales, UK. Glad to hear that they reinstated the title back to Baldwin St now.
Wow honestly I haven't really seen Dunedin in any images or videos before but after seeing this video, I really wanna take a visit there now! seems so peaceful and the sea lions were so adorable! thank you Peter and Yen for showing us around Dunedin 😁
No worries thank you for watching 👍 we really enjoyed our time in dunedin there are a few places in next week's video that we thought were just incredible that you could also add to the bucket list 😁
I was on the beach not 20 mtrs from a huge sea lion before I saw him! Awesome. Dont forget the penguins and the truly spectacular royal albatross, king of the skies
Oh yes good old Dunedin. This was the lil town i grew up in! I remember Larnach castle having a Alice in Wonderland garden theme. I hope it was still there. Sand fly beach was so windy, it made Peters hair look like he was turning super saiyan 😂😂
Hahahaha if my hair picked up anymore sand it would have turned blonde 👱♂️ I think the castle still had a mini Alice in wonderland theme 🤔 think I saw a statue 😅 memory not as good as it used to be
Two thoughts after watching this weeks episode, I will only visit Dunedin in the Summer lol and man that sheep was looking at you guys like you were on his turf and he wanted you gone lol.
Hahahaha New Zealand is your summer destination. The beaches become much more swimmable, warm and less windy 😂 I dunno what it is with sheep 🐑 they're always really curious and like to watch you
Tang Noodle looks like a good spot to hit after experiencing windy and cold weather at Sandfly Bay. In the summer would be really nice to visit I think so too! Your spicy beef noodle got me salivating here. Nice one Peter 👍 Your reaction to delicious food is still priceless haha.
Love Peter’s Dragon Ball hair 🔥 when you guys were filming at Sand Fly Bay🤣. It flamed into a perfect peak😆. The view from the castle rooftop was amazing... would have done the same imaginary archer daydreaming…except I’d do it at this old age. Noodles and dumplings looked 👌👌 🍜 🥟 🤤… gunna have to say Peter’s 🍜 looked more enticing after a cold day. Great vid as always guys and looking forward to 7 of 7!
Hahaha just stopped short of getting it full on blonde 👱♂️ there's no age limit to when it is acceptable to do the archer over the side 😄 beef brisket spicy soup noodles are one of my favorite meals especially after getting wind blown all day 🤤 so good 👌
Dunedin castle was on our list when we booked our holidays in NZ in 2020. Unfortunately we didn't get to see it yet but I celebrated my 34th bday in Dunedin in 2014 🤣. Must add the windy sand beach on the list so we can see the seal. Peter's bowl of noodles look delicious if only i get to taste 😋
slowly making way back up XD to auckland..Yen outfit (like so many different coats), love the long white scarft.. meanwhile peter.. that one jacket :D - thats what i do too.. 1 jacket XD haha..mostly.. for my trip.. especially during winter. okay that is hella a very victorian style posh castle shooting a bow and arrow ey Peter :> - feels like you be good at archery :P sandfly bay lol. SAND fly into my mouth HAHAH - haha lots of sea lions :> man how beautiful is nature hey..
😂 nick you should be in the fashion industry with your love for women's clothing and facial products 😂 Hey I'm actually pretty decent with the bow and arrow, done it a couple of times got quite a lot of bulls eyes 👍💪
another great vid, you guys just get better and better, the scenery never fails to amaze me , those noodles looked great too. looking forward to next weeks blog already . take care
So crazy that is cold over there lol. Ok that scarf was so dang cute and it’s so funny I recently. Been craving dumplings in that chili oil. So I walked to the store today to buy the frozen ones after rewatching the video were u made dumplings by hand and I was like “ heck no” lmboooo I’ll get frozen ones 🤣🤣
Haha thankfully weather is warming up here now with spring (plus Auckland is just usually warmer than the South anyway) 🙂 so glad I wore that scarf.. I used it to block the sand and wind 😆 Lolol hope you enjoyed your dumplings! We had some of our handmade ones last night 🤤👌
Other than the windy weather it looks like you'd a good visit to Dunedin 😊 Larnach Castle looks like an authentic Scottish castle, especially from the inside, and the views from the roof could well be Scotland too ❤️
O that's good to know the architecture stays true to Scottish design. Would be cool to visit Scotland one day and see one there 😯 A lil wind is all good 😂 have a great week ahead Rob 👍
I would totally go to the Gazebo, so pretty! and love the view! Love your scarf btw Yen! I know I said this many times, you guys are so blessed with NZ's beautiful nature! Awh man... I'm salivating watching you guys eat those noodles and dumplings... What a lovely airbnb, literally has everything - coffee machine and even a washing machine. That hill would kill me lol!! even walking 1km feels really tiring for us now haha!!
Thanks Sue 😊 I really like that scarf too.. so chunky! Yea we love how all throughout NZ the nature is so beautiful and often varied too depending where you are! That airbnb was great, so homely ☺️ That hill oh my goodness hahaha gave me flashbacks 😂
wow, the castle looks so elegant and beautiful. the outside garden view from the third floor room is so gorgeous! would love to stay one night there (or more 😝) oh look at the view from the top 😲noodles after chilly day out, great choice of the meal! now we are up for some noodle for dinner !!
🤔 hmmm not sure if you're able to stay in the castle but yes that would be super cool. For some reason wanna play hide and seek at night would be able to scare ppl so bad 😂
tang noodle.. is that taiwanese? :D beef noodle man.. i feel like i need one now.. Yen and her noodle :D that is the best way for Yen to end her day! noodles! purrfect!
I've watched this new vlog on the first sort of chilly morning of the year (autumn is upon us) so I could kind of relate. You guys have really had my favorite kind of weather: fresh, windy and no rain ;) If you ever come to Europe, just know that Belgium has the highest density in castles/surface of any country in the world - I only discovered this myself recently - so you'll be able to drink in as much Medieval history as you can take here! ;)
Belgium sounds great chocolate 🍫 castles 👍 if we do make it there it'll have to be summer though hahahaha the winter sounds brutal. The bucket list of places we want to visit is just so massive now dunno how we're gonna get through it all 😅
Love the weather-worn stained glass of Lanarch Castle's gazebo. When I get out there, will ask if it dates back to 1871? The piano intro at @6.30 goes so well, really appreciate the effort guys
Yup,its only the Covid capitol of NZ,but the Waikato just may get put back to L4 after 3 cases there in the last 24 hrs...obviously these 2 filmed this prior to the nationwide lockdown.
Japanese YEN and New Zealand Dollars eat together stay together god bless you stay bless. Try Harbourside Grill Restaurants 😋 hope you find enjoy than please comment
Thank you for the info! We thought Larnach was the only one in NZ as it's what their website and many articles describe it as. Just googled Cargill castle tho.. it's a shame that it looks like it's abandoned and graffitied all over. Maybe it'll get restored one day too.
Hahaha, those sea lions, and that sheep were practicing safe social distancing. Oh,and those beef noodles, and dumplings looked to die for - Peters review is always dreadful for anyone watching, you just wanna eat. At least Yen is more merciful to us viewers with her food reviews.
😂 the food was on point at tangnoodle looking forward to being able to get some takeaways soon too thought we'd let the initial KFC craze calm down a bit first though 😅
