This Carol has to be my favorite of all time I start off by playing the "Fanfare Introduction" (Was sight reading it) then go into the carol arrangement and descant by David Willcocks from Carols For Choirs Book 1 - I just love the descant when you get a full Church singing this it makes the hairs of my neck stand up!
Hope you certainly enjoy this one!
Nadolig Llawen Folks!! (Merry Christmas Folks!)
Cheers
Rob
N.B - I was here at All Saints Church 11th December 2011 to observe the RNLI Carol Service and Boy what a service it along with the Choir and Les Ryan on the Organ everything was going "Fanfares" and the Descant - It made the hairs of my neck stand up!

Dr.Phibes does Christmas! Seriously - top marks! This rendition has all the energy, joy and abandon called for. This is _not_ something that should played sedately. Brings back happy memories of singing our lungs out at the episcopal midnight mass when I was a kid - snow outside, only candles, full procession by priest and choir in frilly clothes, the smell of incense, everyone with a warm buzz from dinner with the family.

Love It played this way direct, defiant, dynamic, and to the point as written without all the additional and often annoying improvisations many organists always seem to want to add to these songs. My only critique would be the low fidelity recording. There's too much distortion in the sound and not enough dynamic range. I might suggest a better microphone and recording equipment in the future to better capture the wonderful majestic sound of your wonderful playing and this great instrument. Awesome Job though otherwise. Keep up the great work!

I won't lie. There's something magical about the music of a pipe organ that just resonates harmoniously with your soul, be it calling to all ye faithful, or to soothe the bloody tears that fall upon its keys. The pipe organ is timeless and time-honored, and I don't believe, not even for a second, that it is going anywhere. It shall continue to resonate and sing so long as there are those who come to hear it

Christmas Eve - what a tragedy in most American churches today - they are either organless or if they do have an organ, they feel a need to hire a cast of horn blowers, kettle drummers, fiddles and sleigh bell ringers to drown the organ out. All a church needs is the King of Instruments to bring homage to the King of Kings. There is nothing like the rush of joy in a church full of people on Christmas Eve when the first verse of Adeste Fideles is played at full organ expression. It is an experience and a memory that we all can relate to.

Read the Gospel according to Matthew Mark Luke or John. Have patience and allow the Holy Spirit to enter your heart. “Come Holy Spirit fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in us the fire of your love.” Be Baptised in the Lord Jesus. ‘God the Father thankyou for this moment of grace.’

Yes Willcox's arrangement is definately the best. May I suggest taking it much slower through those brilliant chords in the last verse at "Word of the Father now in flesh appearing". any Christmas song like this makes me think of the kickoff track and field meet at the new balance armory in Washington Heights Manhattan New York City New York USA on Fort Washington Avenue between West 168th Street and West 169th Street since our kickoff meets were always in the beginning of December every year before Christmas

The Willcocks version is SOOOO much better than the generic one in my church's hymnal.

theres really some cool arrangements, notably John Rutter, David Willcocks, and current choirmaster Stephen Cleobury. i played the Willcocks arrangement, and its so pure and never ceases to amaze me. especially in the tutti section at the end... once i figured out that chord, i was so amazed x)

Many congregations don't have the money to buy and instrument like this. It is very un fortunate. But there are some very God digital organ s out there that can replicate particular styles and and sound . JOHANNUS OF HOLLAND IS ONE OF THESE.

Thanks - Pipe Organs like this are a fine example - on the other hand I don't like Johannus for me it's an Eminent in the way they sound!
