He's 100% right. It is all about running the trains

My cousin used to use insulated rails and a photocell in order to achieve automation for his layout years back. He was able to run 2 trains on the same main line without a hiccup. I always enjoy seeing these older layouts because guys like him would have been blown away with what is offered today. But I’ll forever stay a conventional operator myself….. even if occasionally there might be a Gomez Addams incident.

I really appreciate this man's efforts. An electro-mechanical brain with 100 relays??? A heck of lot of work with very satisfying results. My Ross x-crossover with 6 relays to steer current for block operation was enough for me! He's got a real treasure. Was this recorded in the 90's ? 😊

There was an episode of Ellory Queen about a guy who had an automated train 🚂🚆 layout.

I don't know about being under the table for hours . But I got mine running good. I just run loops and listen to music.

Club sized layout should be run by a group of model railroaders. You need all the electronics so you can operate it by yourself. Takes the comradery out of running trains with your friends.

The layout is worth more than the house 🏠.😂

nice layout. I personally prefer to have individual control of each train.
