i haven't been left physically jaw dropped by a movie in a long while. And after viewing it for the first time i am just astonished by the entirety of it. why isn't it well known?? thanks again for the review. I'm surprised you seam to be the only one on RU-vid with one.

Thank you. Like I say in the review, the film flopped and the pig-headed reviewers went for it at the time of release which is why it's largely unknown over here. In the US they got it and it was reviewed much more favourably. But you're right, there isn't a whole lot about the film on RU-vid. There's a couple of single take reviews that I've seen but no full-on retrospectives with clips which is why I decided to make my own. I'm glad that fans of the film like your good self appreciate my analysis.

Great review! I actually watched this because you reviewed if...., which is a movie i really like, and you said this was your favorite of the trio. And while i still prefer if to o lucky man, i enjoyed your review. I liked your reasoning of why actors were playing different roles.

Oh thank you. Glad I could introduce you to the film a persuade you to watch it. I like If to but O L M is definitely the one that's drawn me back to repeatably view over the years.

you should do a review of The Ruling Class (1972), another classic surreal British social satire from this same era.

Well if you subscribe to the channel I'll gladly do it. I'm not familiar with the film myself but if it's in the same vein then it sounds like it could be fun.

@@bigbuddhaiswatching...101 Sure, I'll subscribe. By the way, it stars Peter O'Toole in an Oscar-nominated performance. He lost out to Marlon Brando in The Godfather. There are numerous guest stars such as Alastair Sim, Arthur Lowe (utterly hilarious as a Bolshevik butler), Harry Andrews, James Villiers, and Nigel Green.

Consider it done. It won't be my next video up as I have three or four on the go at the moment in several states of preparation but I'll try and cobble something together in the next two months.

@@bigbuddhaiswatching...101 I think this film has some interesting parallels with A Clockwork Orange (Alex's character arc, but in reverse). I wonder if you will think this is the case also when you watch it. There's also a scene at the end of the film in the House of Parliament which is strikingly similar to a scene at the end of The Shining (when Wendy sees the cobwebbed room filled with skeletons).

i can also see the parallels with - A Clockwork Orange (a brilliant important film) particularly with the farsical violence and droog like arrest scene. i love these anti establishment films of the early seventies. have you seen- the Majic christian featuring pete sellers & ringo star with similar themes & are you going to review A Clockwork Orange

Thanks for watching and commenting. I've seen some of The Magic Christian. Seemed to be a lot of Peter Sellers in him "I'm going to do whatever I like, even if it makes no sense to the established character or plot" phase. I've been wanting to do a full Kubrick retrospective covering all his films for a while now. One day I'll get round to it.

i wrote too soon you covered most of what i observed at the end of you review, o lucky man ehds with a kind of- after show actors party celebration very philosophical as if to say "lifes all a game" Ive always felt that Robocop is a kind of sequel to A Clockwork Orange except that now the corporate world is running America just as it has in the real life since the eighties, unfortunately its a case of "the Empires new clothes
