I've always wanted to play the Tenor saxophone from watching & listing to my Uncle who fortunately is still with us & still playing. Always get the best saxophone that the player could afford I know what I wanted this is just resent. the past 5 years I decided to learn I'm 58 years of age every time I was close something would happen that would take my savings away. I couldn't wait any longer & I purchased a Tenor made for Amazon & sold @ Amazon I thought it was fantastic @ first. after a good year it started to b rebellious, had it looked over everything was fine so the saxophone I wanted to get I decided to rent to own it has its good & not so good program so I ordered a Yamaha yts 26 Tenor saxophone. I rented the gas 23 some time earlier come to find out the 23 & 26 series made in Japan. in 2011 they changed a few details about both Saxophones I do my homework on RU-vid. I find all the reviews about the new yas 23 post 2011.& one or two short reviews about the Student Tenors what is going on can some please contact me about the Yamaha yts 26 made in China. that's a big deal breaker for many people Yamaha wood win Instruments with made in china some were on the Horn thanks very much
Craig Howard The Yamaha 26 is a good student instrument… but only Yamaha's professional and custom models are made in Japan. You said you wanted to buy the best instrument for your budget--if you give an indication of your budget then people could give suggestions.
Mr. Murphy, thanks for your testimony about how you got started with the saxophone and balance in your life. I wanted to ask you, What kind of Yamaha Sax are you using? Thanks for your input, God bless you and your family!
Michael, I believe it's the Masato Kumoi Saxophone Quartet, with Otis Murphy being featured on Alto Saxophone, as opposed to their alto saxophonists (whose name escapes me).
Actually, I believe it's a quartet consisting of Nobuya Sugawa (soprano), Jean-Yves Fourmeau (alto), Otis Murphy (tenor), and Yasuto Tanaka (bari). They performed together in 2008 during a Yamaha event.
