Music knows no boundaries...he doesn't have to speak a common language to create music. And at times, Janaki voice is so heavily processed that it sounds like a cross between Malika~E~Taranum Madam Noor Jehan and Geeta [Gosh, Roy, Chaudhary] Dutt.
She is great legendary female singer in India Janaki Amma. She sang more than 50000 thousands songs, kannada, Tamil, Telagu Malayalam more than 16 language. Pls don't compare with anyone pls from Mohan Kumar mysore (savithri pandu ranga)

A huge OPN fan, I had no clue about this movie,Mangni. Released or unreleased? S Janaki is to the South, what Lata is to the Hindi film industry... versatile, sweet and ever dependable. Has sung some other Hindi songs, not very successful, though! I can recollect Pyar Bina chain kahan re( Saheb, with Bappi Lahiri) and Bol Baby bol, Rock and roll ( Meri Jung,LP).
At 1:02, the interviewer TRIED to make OP Nayyar compare S Janaki with Bombay's film singers like Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle ji, but the interview ended THEN AND THERE. Which means, OP Nayyar refused to comment. S Janaki is amazing, but she herself admits that her style is influenced by Lata Mangeshkar. And in Hindi, Janaki literally became popular because she sounded like Asha Bhosle....sorry, but at their peaks - Lata Ji and Asha Ji were unbeatable in Hindi cinema, and Janaki Amma was unbeatable in South. The moment these queens tried to step out of their territory, their magic vanished. Lata Ji's Tamil and Malayalam songs are not popular, and Janakiamma's Hindi songs are also not popular except a few of Bappi Lahiri's compositions. They are queens of their respective regions...let's just respect them for that only and stop comparing.

Who the hell are you to say this. She is S Janaki ,,,sung so many great songs .for your information ,,some of the tough songs sung by her cannot be sing by any other singer . She is S Janaki she doesn't need to imitate any other singer .mind ur words.
