I honestly don't think that the earpieces cutting out was an accident. I truly believe that the producers of Making the Band wanted to create drama for an episode, and the Miss America Pageant was the perfect venue to make it happen. Someone in the sound booth drops out the backing tracks, they get chewed out for a bad performance, and then they strive to redeem themselves on their own show. It's a live event so it was embarrassing enough to become a plot, but it's not so huge an event that it would ruin them. I don't think the band knew about it, but it wouldn't surprise me if that was how it went down.
@@_greaterpoint_3729 you could be right. Of course by the time they arrived boy bands were starting to get old. And honestly, they weren't one of the top ones to begin with.
i remember this! i felt so bad for them. when you can't hear the music in your ear, you feel like you have to almost scream when you're singing and you can never find the note :(
I just saw the other video of this full performance and I knew they sounded off but couldn't figure out why because their other performances were great. Glad it was just that their ear pieces stopped working and they couldn't hear themselves or the music. Sucks that their ear pieces stopped working though and hella suspish that it faded out instead of just stopping or glitching or something.
Man, this was just painful to watch. Just ugh.. Eric made the whole thing worse with his shrieking. I agree with another commenter, I wouldn't be surprised if the show sabotaged them on purpose for drama and ratings.
He sounded to be the most out of tune with his solo parts and harmony parts. Trevor and Ashley in the starting in at least in their solo parts didn't appear to be really off. I don't get how they say Erik is the best singer in the group other than singing the highest parts in the songs a lot of the times. He has quite a few performances where his voice doesn't sound like the studio version. He does tend sing a lot of the highest notes in their songs though.
@@larrynance9946 he ruined this performance, he is the one completely offkey, is he tone deaf? the other guys were ok aside from the fact this group couldn't harmonize to save their lives
So to the people saying they should’ve known the notes, when you’re singing and can’t hear your own voice it’s IMPOSSIBLE to sing in tune. Think about deaf people, they can’t hear their own voice and words so when you hear a deaf person talks it sounds abnormal because they can’t hear their own pitch and tone..
i'd say their biggest mistake in this situation, was overcompensation. First inclination should probably not be to over sing when you can't hear yourself.
Yeah but we instinctively sing or speak louder when we can't hear ourselves because we are trying to hear ourselves and we don't know how loud we're actuly being.
@OTownHQ Actually, the guy on the vide was blaming them too,not only the "technical problem". They SHOULD have known the note that they were supposed to sing,it would a least made them sound decent enough. Another thing, you can't compare solo singing with a group of guys singing in harmony, that's why they have to know the note that they should sing.
Erik was the one that was really out of tune. It was quite noticeable in his solo parts and harmony parts. Jacob didn't really sound out of tune but he wasn't good either.
It still always blows my mind that as singers, they fail to notice they aren't on key. Any time I slip out of key, I'm fully aware and mortified and start over
@mariahdibben4066 yeah their in-ears were off for sure..I'm not being an ass..jjst saying a song you sing that much you know if you're a smodge off..none of them were that far off just enough to matter
@@prisonmike4971 Yeah if you can hear yourself. You really don't know if you're off if you can't hear yourself. They couldn't hear themselves or the music because their ear pieces stopped working so they didn't really know they were off or how off they were until it was played back for them.
This was totally done on purpose. They all had the same story and experience. They werent going to do this the Backstreet Boys or NSYNC if the were doing a reality show. They were the bottom of the barrel boyband wise at that time in their league. Wow....Crazy that the producers would sabotage their musicianship for the sake of views and controversy.
When I saw the performance on others videos it didn't sound this bad. I could just be miss hearing it or maybe it was edited. But I know for sure that the two videos don't sound the same.
Kaila Young if you watch the whole performance, the show edited the worst chorus lines with the performance. The chorus we hear here is at the end of the performance...
He was the one that was really out of tune. You could hear it in his harmony and and solo parts. His live voice often times doesn't sound like the studio version quite a few times. He seems to struggle.
@imperfecta89 Have you ever sing in front of a big loud crowd?? I have, and if you don't have good ear pices, you don't hear yourself at all. For that reason, all professional singers used them so they can be on key.
EXACTLY! People don’t understand that it’s bad enough to sing solo without being able to hear yourself but it makes it 100x harder when you’re trying to harmonize with not just 1 other person but 4 other people..
So im hearing them talk & Im saying to myself, it cant be that bad. But as soon as I heard the first few seconds, I couldn't play it. I felt soo bad for them... I skipped it. How awful must have that experience been like.
And yet. They are still touring and singing together to this day. Aside from Ashley. Went to their concert I have so many pictures with them. I love how they just took over my phone. Good thing I didn’t have anything dirty on it cause Trevor went through it. lol. Wish I could post the pictures here
Watch their other live performances. They can sing. Their ear pieces stopped working so they couldn't hear themselves or the music so they messed up the song accidentally.
