This is a walk down memory lane in Oak Cliff presented by the authors of two Oak Cliff books: Images of America: Oak Cliff and Legendary Locals of Oak Cliff. These pictures are similar to those in the books -- plus the books include a story with each picture. For more info see oakcliff.org

At 1:33, that's Wesley Methodist Church on Marsalis at Missouri. They renamed Missouri to some racial leader name. The inside of the sanctuary was changed to suit the new inhabitants. The church did have the most beautiful stained glass windows I've ever seen, anywhere. I don't know where they went. I wish I had pictures and knew the artist. At least they're in memory. A lot of loving, caring people made up this church. I miss it all the time.

According to his sister Amanda McFarland Hall, George Robert Phillips “Spanky” McFarland was born at Oak Cliff's Methodist Hospital in 1928. His family owned a house at the intersection where the Texas Theater now sits. He went to Hollywood at the age of 3 and starred in the Little Rascal-Our Gang comedies. He later lived in several other cities around Dallas/Ft. Worth. McFarland served in the US Air Force and then became a business executive at Philco-Ford. Along with his many charity works, McFarland made television and personal appearances. His final performance was in an episode of Cheers. McFarland has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Still go to La Calle Doce Mexican seafood . Bishop Arts is nicer now. This video is the West Oak side mainly. West is Mexican with white neighborhoods(rich houses) and East and South more Black. All good people from all sides I know plenty of great families from there. ❤️

Hey Alan. I've been watching a lot of videos about Oak Cliff. Several of the comments mention Pizza Paradise. I believe they had the best pizza in Oak Cliff. Until recently I wasn't aware that there was so many videos about OC.You and I are the only ones who remember the "amen ministry" up and down Jefferson Blvd. on Saturday mornings. Missing OC all the way from Beaverton, Oregon.
