This video brought back great memories of my grandmother making homemade dumplings. On her hoosier, the part in the middle pulled out and she made the dumplings on cloth in that work area. Thanks for the video.

This is amazing: I just bought my hoosier night before last ( a dream come true, had to wait 35 years) - and it's almost exactly the same! Differences: My drawer knobs are glass, I'm missing the meat grinder attachment (although the two bolts were still there sticking out at odd angles). It did come with the lovely spice jars for the spinning rack and also has the two metal drawers. And of course the flour and sugar units. Same slide out counter, white with blue trim. No rust, everything works beautifully, The person I bought it from said it was in his 1865 house when he bought the house (which is where I picked it up from), so I'm assuming the previous home owner was the original owner of the unit, as it's not been banged up or weathered. Just needs a good clean, and maybe I'll repaint or strip it down to wood. It's flat white right now, with wheat stalks stencilled not the top 3 doors. I wish I could post a picture for you, as my unit is in very, very good condition. I feel so blessed!

I have a similar cabinet - mine is a Canadian brand.and made of maple Mine have the roll top desk look - it rolls up and down not sideways. My flour bin pulls down from the left. No sugar or spice rack. Bread bin in bottom drawer. Except for the back being replaced one is all original. I also have another one that is original never painted oak. Original flour still in bin.Original glassware in one. We paid $1200 each for the cabinets .And had to rent a moving van and drove 300 miles to get them. I love my cabinet.

For safety & health reasons I probably wouldn't want to use the old bins just to be cautious. If you really want to do it ask your MD or an RN first. Of all the Hoosiers that I have sold I can only remember one girl who said that she wanted to bake the same way that her Great Grandmother did.

My Mother bought a Hoosier cabinet back in 1975 from a junk shoppe, it was in solid condition, original hardware, flour sifter. Well she restored the painted finish, kept the cabinet for decades, just as a conversation piece, she didn't use it for its intended purpose, anyway she passed away earlier this year and I became the heir/owner of it. But I never married or had kids so I plan to sell it soon. It most likely is from the mid to late 1920s or early 1930s.

Gary, I have one that looks similar. Do you know what year this one is? I have been trying to date mine to help me with the replacement parts. I think mine is is missing the two small silverware drawers underneath the table top. I was guessing around 1924. I realize this video is 2008. Thanks for any light you can shed or sites that I can contact ~ Diane

Gary are you still around? I have a cabinet very similar to this. Where can find replacement flour and sugar bins and the roller door?

Ours is still in original condition oak. Still has the flour bin, the roll top, metal bread bin. It’s in immaculate condition compared to what you see online. We used it in our cabin.

@venusm61 - I sold this Hoosier shortly after posting it here on RU-vid. You can get reproduction sifters. Just google the words Kennedy & Hoosier & Indiana. You might find original sifters being sold on Ebay.

I just bought a similar Hoosier but did not have the spice jar rack. My question relates to the two top drawers underneath the slide-out porcelain top. Mine stick out about 3 inches. I don't see how I can push them all the way back in with the stoppers underneath the drawers. Maybe the stoppers were added later for some reason. On your video, I noticed your two top drawers are also sticking out. Are they supposed to be pushed all the way in or are they supposed to remain out? Thank you.

I had a oak Hoosier with 2 upper doors with a green pattern on them. Don't see to many two doors. Sold it @garage sale for $700.( started at $850) It didn't need repaired, had meat grinder with the mount and had all the spice jars with 2 others 1 for tea and 1 for??? These, like other antiques or vintage pieces in the price range from $6-1200 are a very hard sale right now.

Not thinking too clearly tonight. After saying it is Canadian I should have given the brand - my maple one is Knetcher. The oak one is unmarked and the paper on the inside with the measurements and such on it probably had the brand name but it got ripped so we can't say for sure who made that one.
