OAK Park has that East Coast/Cold Steel/MDFS vibe to me and Whitehaven is straight down south bumping. Cadence for Cadence, Whitehaven has battle cadences on lock. Oak Park cadences were more along the lines of show/entertainment. Whitehaven with the Win. Both drumlines do THEIR style well. I love Oak Park snares and how clean the are on the Black Max heads.
For those saying Whitehaven's snares avoided going solo for solo: After hearing them run those three solos back to back, I can assure you that their material was much greater than anything OP had to play. Cleaner and just outright better. They would've annihilated OP's snareline solo for solo.. #Facts..

GREAT battle! Whitehaven is a high school heavy hitter. I've never seen Oak Park. Let's see how it goes: Presence- WH:10 OP:8 Uniformity- WH: 10 OP: 9 Cleanliness- WH: 9 OP: 8 Material- WH: 10 OP: 7 Difficulty- WH:10 OP: 7 Musicality- WH: 7 OP: 5 Overall score: WH: 9.3 OP: 7.3 Snares- WH: 10 OP: 9 Tenors: WH: 9 OP: 6 Multi Tenors: WH: 9 OP: 5 Basses: WH: 10, OP: 6 Cymbals: WH: 8 OP: 6 Overall: WH: 9.4, OP: 6.4 Final score: WH: 9.35, OP: 6.85 Oak Park is more of a typical high school line that I'm used to: one REALLY good subsection and the rest emerging. There's nothing wrong with this because they're still kids and aren't at the college level. Schools like Whitehaven are the exception because these programs usually have faithful alumni who marched in a strong college line and come back to teach the kids and even feed them into their college alma mater's program. Side note: It seemed as though in the beginning, OP knew that their snares were strong and they wanted to go head to head with WH. WH, on the other hand, seemed more interested in battling line against line. This is a very interesting difference in how the lines seem to be taught. Not wrong, just different.
The only thing I dislike about whitehaven is the quint angles, everything else was GREAT, and I'm a corps style drummer. get those quint angles flat, instead of angled down, and you guys are perfect
Who are the percussion instructors for each group? Both did an outstanding job. Did Oak Park's band director used to play snare for NCAT around 2011, 2012, etc? OP snares were clean though. I like WH quints too.
Cedric Rucker They were told 2 cadences. You see the director push them to the back after their 2nd cadence. When WH started throwing solos, OP snares came back to the front to run solos. When OP snares stepped in front of WH they didn’t want to run solos any more.
They said snares can run solos THAN play two cadences and that’s what op did but Whitehaven didn’t wanna run solos until oakpark went back .than when op snares came back Whitehaven wanted to run cadences Ps after op went back after their two cadences the host was telling Whitehaven to stop playing and go back cause it was time to proceed with the battle
I didn't know any of the drumlines in Memphis has tonal basses. I'm glad to see something other than that JSU/SWAC stuff. Oak Park band director must be from the MEAC because they doing a lot of Bethune, North Carolina A&T stuff.

You clearly see that only the crowd was amused. If this was a showcase this would be perfect but its a battle and if that was Oak Park’s battle material than there was no battle. It was a massacre. Ultimately, the Haven won the battle.

Overall whitehaven's Drumline had the win in discipline material choreography and presentation. A solo is only as effective as the point of it being played. Ego destroyed Oakhaven

Both bands are great but the band in black n gold...this is why it pays to tune your drums properly...great work but something's just need to be done before you step on the battlefield
This Was Meant To Be A Section Battle. They Section Not Good So They Wanted To Play Solos All Day. Any Decent Section Would Respond With Cadences Or Even Call Outs. OP Can’t Because They Have No Section. OP Straight Trash🤷🏽♂️
