They still sing and are putting out new CD every few years. Find them on Facebook or Instagram. Also have done some great gospel with the Gsithers in the past, but still available, I think.
Rodney Crowell wrote this in reference to Mary Kay Place. Talking about her wild youth times. The line about, Mary took to runnin' with a travelin' man.
Grew up in WVA listening to country in mid-late 70s--early 80s...this was a great one among em...Real country music doesnt exist anymore..hasnt in over 30 years imo.
best two lines of the song... Leaving Louisiana in the broad daylight & have you ever seen a cajun when he really got mad when you really got trouble like a daughter gone bad it gets real hot down in Louisiana!
I love this group! They sing country and gospel. I don’t think you will hear them singing about drinking and cheating in their songs! They are good clean wholesome country songs. Best harmony of any group I’ve ever heard! Love their gospel songs!
One of the ORB's first country chart toppers. This came out around 1978-79. Put them on the map beyond their gospel roots that date back to the 1940s. This was a couple years before Elivra, which would pretty much turn them into a household name in America as they'd cross over to the pop charts with that one.
Well, if no one sings better, then all the people who sing to become the best singer might as well quit since no one can sing better. (you are an idiot)
Another great performance, by a fabulous group of men! I really miss getting to see the Oaks perform live, I guess I'll just have to watch their old videos.😊💒
Love this song and performance, even though all four members are dressed like they're in different bands. :) I think Richard's (deep voice) microphone was turned way down in this song, I can hardly hear him most of the time. I can hear Joe loud and clear, but it could just be that he's slightly off time with the rest so he stands out more. Thanks for sharing!
I did subscribe, you've got lots of wonderful old country content. After listening to several versions of this song, I think this performance is my favorite, better than the album version and better than either Rodney Crowell or even Emmylou Harris' versions. Cheers!
Country music recorded after 2012 is what is known as, "classic country". It's the best. The old stuff back when Trish Yearwood weighed less than 275 really wasn't that good.
I used to love the ORB's as a kid, but the more I look at them they seem like they come from very diverse backgrounds. They don't necessarily look "country."
Good stuff but the style of the times was nauseating. Where's the fiddle player? Where's the drummer? Why are their alien technologies in the background? Love these guys though.
