Oakland store hit by burglars 4 times in recent months 

Doesn't matter if Oakland gets more police or funding, if the DA doesn't prosecute, nothing will change.

People in our own neighborhood continue to vote for soft on crime policies.

Damn this was the same store i took shelter this weekend night waiting for my uber. The manager was very humble and gave me an advise to not to venture alone especially in oakland at this hours. He straight up told me this area is dangerous. Hope he is safe and get justice. I wanted him alive no matter what 😢❤

The cops saw them leaving and said "we can't do anything?" WoW. That right there means there is no law and its a free for all. Owners have two options either get some guns to protect their store or shut down and move to a new state. Fight or flee those are your only two options in Oakland.

Absolutely terrible. Several thoughts 1. After the 2nd robbery, I would have shut down and moved to another location. Just like many other businesses in Oakland 2. You need to recall the mayor. 3. Change the name of the business from "Drive-In." The criminals will use this as their defense in court if they are ever arrested.

Some businesses are hiring private security to watch the stores while they are closed.

The solution is not just to recruit more and more officers, does anyone listen to what the grocery owner said the police is unable to do their job to catch thiefs because of the crazy policies that have been passed without any common sense. Dude, 4th time? Have you up'd security? 1. No large amounts of cash in the store. If you have a safe, conceal it in the floor. 2. You can get bollards and concrete planter boxes for under $1,000. Anchor the concrete planter in the ground so it can't be dragged. 3. Hire a security consultant, work up a long list of options and product sources. From cheap to expensive, practical to dream items, create a budget and a contingency fund.

Hence why In n Out is leaving that shit-hole of a city!

It’s even more disheartening to know that the sheer incompetence of city council missed a deadline for state grants to small businesses that are hurting from crime like this establishment. I have lived in Oakland since 2005 and this is by far the worst I have seen it. And by far the most corrupt city government in the state. Time to move out before my property value drops any further.

The problem is basically that places like Oakland and San Francisco have lost the political will to enforce the rule of law. In a truly functioning democracy, it should NOT be up to the DA, the judge, the cops, or anyone else in the criminal justice system to decide on their own not to enforce laws that the people’s representatives have passed. This is why our system is broken. I fear it may reach a point where the only options are 1) for law abiding citizens to move out, further compounding the problem, or 2) a violent revolution. The French and Russian Revolutions have both shown us that this road only leads to further needless bloodshed and reigns of terror that continue until someone like Napoleon, Joseph Stalin, or Donald Trump come along.
