Thanks for the review and I agree with your feedback. I have the OGs still and those are not the og gold iridium lenses and not as poppy as the 24k which doesn’t look great. Also, the original suede has a shaggy nap to the leather and not nubuck leather. Yeah that stitching is horrible.
I still have my X-Metal Mars with Ruby iridium lenses from 2004, and finally retuned the flex couplers after years of enduring extreme heat cycles in my car along with upgrading the OEM lenses with polarized equivalents from Linegear.
Well, what can we expect? Luxxotica owns Oakley now, and Luxxotica wants to milk all of your money regardless when they did products with precision or not.
Those are NOT Gold Iridium lenses on that older "original" pair. I'm an Oakley Mars collector. Eleven pairs in total. Thanks for the review. I can see now... I will NOT buy a pair of Oakley Mars MUZM. Stay Awesome! < fist pump >
@@WyckoffMode Thanks. 🙏 do believe I commented on this before but yes the restored originals have been confirmed as Dillon Matte Gold lenses. The MUZM pair has been sold. The originals stay in my collection! Glad to have helped.
The original Oakley's did not come with Gold Iridium. However, you could get them later when they finally released the lenses I think that was 99 or 2000. You could then order the lenses to be replaced or order them with those lenses. With that said, for the price, the new ones are waaaay over priced and definitely janky. But that's the difference between OG Oakley and Luxottica.
@@Shadydaysunglasses And you can't retune the couplers because that would require removing the stitched leather. Very disappointed that the MUZM series didn't accurately replicate the mechanics of what made X-Metal such a desirable series.
Thanks. Yeah it has been established and confirmed that the original restoration features Dillon Matte Gold lenses. They are actually amazing lenses and arguably a huge performance enhancement over what came with the originals.
My favorite pair of old school Oakleys is the Razor Blades which is synonymous with Delta Force in the 90's, then the Baxter came out so those scratch that itch. I wish M Frames are back in circulation I can't find them anywhere only Ebay and Oakley SI
There's been three releases of M Frames in the last 18 months, albeit all limited releases. Early last summer Oakley had a box set and a single pair and then recently ShoePalace released a pair in collaboration as well.
Yes I agree. Also I found out since the video that the originals were restored with gold Dillon lenses with matte finish. So in fact that is the look for them. The originals did have a more gold/mirror finish but not nearly as shiny or reflective as the new release.
I would not recommend for running. Sweat, salt would stain the leather wrapped sections. However a pair of old school Romeo’s or Mars (non leather) would work for running and look great.
