my father would always play this song in the car while we were driving. i used to call it “the longest song in the whole world”. i would say that line and he would play it. unfortunately, he died when i was nine years old. when he died my world was quite for a bit. but i’ve always found myself re-finding this song in different parts in my life when i need it most. i’m nineteen now, a whole decade later and i think he’s talking to me when i listen to it now. “someday you will find me, caught beneath the landslide in a champagne supernova in the sky” in some weird way, i think of this as some full circle moment, almost like he was preparing me , knowing i’d always have this song. i love you dad. thank you for always guiding me back to this song.

I’ll be 18 in less than 20 minutes. I decided to end my childhood with this masterpiece. (10/05/22): I’ll be 19 in three hours. My first year of being an adult was hard; I didn’t think I’d make it, and frankly, I have a lot of work ahead of me. Yet, here I am. Alive. Thanks Oasis.

I learned this song earlier laat year. 28 years old and I truly feel late to the show. Don't make fun but this song literally moat days makes me cry. I don't know why. It's just so full of emotion (as am I) I can't help but open the floodgates when it comes to this track. I hope you and your family are being treated by well. And I have one question. "Where were you while we were getting high?" 😅 lol sorry, had to. This song absolutely BANGS. 🖤 Bless you and your family.

Uza Raysin MaDique Pedant much? When people get older, they tend to say "It was 20 years ago", even if it was just 18 or 19 years. Pretty much common speak or basic math, because in math, you do round up at certain instances. How about you do something meaningful, than wasting your time with such nonsense? Have a good life. P.S.: i was a pedant like you, been partly cured.

Hey dude. I so much agree. About ten years ago I was having a bad day - family issues, self-analysis and all that crap. I got in my motor and drove 30 miles around the countryside with Oasis blaring on the CD. I pulled in when this song came on, I turned up the sound, sat back with my hands behind my head and just drowned in it. From that day this has been my favourite Oasis song. it is indeed of the highest order, and I hate picking favourites too because all their songs are top drawer. But from that moment, something about Champagne super will resonate with me forever. Different gravy.

Throughout history, there has been genius appearing in music, and that will never change. In this internet-fueled world, anyone who is willing to dig for good music will find it. Some of it is new, some not so much. The longer you get to spend in the world, and the later you join the party, the more truly amazing music you get to have in your life. Popcorn Chicken 7 billion would be pretty much everyone. Maybe learn what a generation actually is before you trash one and talk about intelligence. Ultimate chode. Also, I call trash water; Farage. “Mind you don’t step in that puddle of Farage”

1:25 that, right there. It’s gotta be the greatest intro’s to a song of all time, but because of what happened to them, they’re a forgotten band in many people’s heads that aren’t British. There was a good 10 years where I had completely forgotten about them and then hear Champagne Supernova on the radio. They were so huge for a short time and this is their exact peak, this song. I was 12 or 13 when this album was released so I still remember the influence they had… but I do also remember it was short lived, only a few years and then they had to go and say they’re either going to be big than the Beatles, or they already thought they had surpassed the Beatles lol. Even though atvm, you might be able to debate that, then I don’t think I’ve seen a bigger fall from sky, at such a fast pace in my entire life of music lol. It’s like fans everywhere were disgusted and offended that they could’ve ever held a candle to the Beatles. I’ll say at the pace they were going, they could’ve possibly had a good run at it. But that’s just like what happened with the Beatles and when John said they were bigger than Jesus, yet we all forgave him after that because of what would happen to him later in life. But the gen public didn’t forgive Oasis for their comment. But I think enough time has passed now and people have actually forgotten about and swept it under the rug by now because let’s be honest they had one of the highest selling albums of all time. 22 million copies sold. To give you a comparison to another high selling album a few years before that was Metallica’s Black album. That has sold 16 1/2 million copies atm. So that’s how big that album was; blows the Black album outta the water. Idk why I ranted so hardcore just now, lol, but whatever.

There are certain 90’s songs that give me an overwhelmingly painful and bittersweet sense of nostalgia. This is definitely one of them.

I completely relate. The opening guitar riff gives me this sense of really painful nostalgia and I don’t know why.

I read this exact same quote in the comments from a different song, I’m assuming you wrote it about a song which gives you equal measure nostalgia . Anyway, sharing the music and memories is best thing about RU-vid by far. Enjoy!

Kinda need this after this fucking terrible day. I fail a midterm, see a terrible movie to try and cheer me up, then Kobe dies. This decade has started off awfully, but this song will always be here to comfort me.
