I remember staying in especially to tape this from Radio 1's Evening Session. Thursday 7th April 1994, about 8.10pm, after the Boo Radleys played their set. So with my Aiwa tape deck and a TDK SA60 chrome cassette, I set about recording the Oasis set. Managed to f*ck it up by missing the first few seconds of Shakermaker (didn't let the tape run on for a few seconds before pressing "Rec" and also tried to fade out Jo Whiley's talkover bit at the end of Live Forever - "You're listening to Oasis live at Sound City 94!" The set was repeated on Radio 1 on their end of year "best of" and they have overdubbed this version with crowd noise, as the original recording had muted applause from the hard-to-please Scottish crowd - someone even shouted "rubbish" between Shakermaker and Live Forever. I can vividly remember being in my bedroom on a sunny Spring night with 4 cans of Budweiser recording this and being absolutely blown away by Live Forever. So special ❤
Honestly, his voice was strongest from the spring demos in 1993 - this gig here - April 1994. Windsor there is a noticable drop off on the high notes. It’s no surprise that the best vocals on Definitely Maybe all date back to 1993 - Shakermaker, Supersonic, Married With Children and Slide Away. Shame that things all changed. 1995-1997 is excellent in its own way but he burnt the candle at both ends
Yeah, a shame he had to cancel his gig in Belfast. Hope he recovers quickly but if he decides to take the rest of the year off I wouldn’t object, it’d mean he’d give that slowly recovering voice even more rest!
This is the best Liam sounded, in my opinion. He's not a self parody, he's not too Real People, he's not shouty, too Lydon or too Lennon. He sounds like himself, natural.
@@Shakermaker94 I like the 93/94 stuff, he had a good voice. If you got a little time, check out my first demo on my channel, it's a mad fer it tune, cheers.
@@santiagoruiz898 Ah okay, I haven’t listened to that gig yet but I’ll try to get it up when I can if I can find a lossless link to it (I don’t have it currently)
@@Shakermaker94 They changed that Swamp Song intro before they played Loch Lomond in 96. They walked on stage with it playing through the speakers then started with Columbia. I was so looking forward to it after getting a bootleg copy of the Maine Road 2nd night gig. That's got to be one of the best starts to any gig ever.
