Oathmark Battle Report: Dwarfs Vs Orcs and Goblins

Welcome back to another Oathmark battle report. Today we are fighting the next battle in our little Saga between Dwarfs and Greenskins.
Rather than a recap at the end of each turn we filmed the whole battle. Please let me know if you prefer this format to my previous battle reports.

Felt bad that the game wasn't closer. Poor orcs really seemed to have been worked. Orcs needed some more warmachines/shooting of their own. Both players maintained a good demeanor. Would watch a refight.

Hey Ash, it’s such a good game. It’s been my main game for a while now. I’m just starting a Warhammer 4th Edition project so it’s going to be interesting to see who the two compare and which one I like more. Get on the Oathmark FB page and get asking. Also the guys there organise Oathmark events every now and then which are very relaxed. Defo recommend 😀

One of teh issues with any wargame that has shooting is a lack of terrain for units to 'sneak' up the board. This board was far too open. AoS & Frostgrave are two games I have played where missile troops dominate the game unless the open field is closed down a bit. But I enjoyed teh introduction to Oathmark. Interesting that there are no armour saves. I may look into this further. 👍👍😉

Yeah you should it’s a great game. Regarding terrain, with a rank and flank game like Oathmark you don’t want lots of terrain because you need to be able to menoeuvre around the battlefield.

Thats true, but having a couple areas of LOS blocking terrain can make a huge difference@JonnyWatsonGaming

great game! some input: for the goblin player, always field goblins with a commanding leader nearby, without a captain they are useless! Also, when casting a spell, you need to check twice, once for activation then another check for casting number difficulty. Units of one like monsters and characters never get any moral penalties when testing (which makes them very hard to rout). Big infantry like trolls and ogers only get 1 penalty for every dead figure, not by hit (also making them harder to rout). Also, your trolls have champion die!

Not fully onboard with Oathmark, but the ease you can use models from previously owned army makes it very tempting, and it looks like fun. I'm getting the rulebook this Christmas, let's see where I go from there.

Honestly it is a really good game. Yes you can use whatever models you like, it has much more of a WHFB feel to it than say Kings of War. Baring playing 4th ed WHFB this is my go to rank and flank game. Enjoy your present 🎁 😀👍

I’m really glad the vids have been of use 😀 the spear dwarfs are from eM4 and I think the line breaker are also.

Well that was harsh, first you had no luck and then you had some really bad one on top. Thanks for the game anyway, but I think the Dwarf list was quite competitive. So not really layed out for a fun game.

Yeah defo a very tough game for me. To be fair my general tactical prowess was to be desired but yeah James bought a very competitive list compared to mine.
