The democratic party is a private organisation. They're a political party, not the government. The government is made up of people from political parties and independents, but they are not the same thing.

They don't really have a choice. That is how the laws have determined the process. They can't change them now only a few months before the general election. If Biden can't run and steps down, another person has to be chosen. And there isn't a process to have another primary in every state for everyone to vote on a new candidate. Which is why I and some other Democrat supporters were not as gung ho about Biden stepping down as many were. It isn't clear cut that a new person will have a better chance of winning.
I hate our government .. it’s so political and backed by people who have money. Real folks that should be leading us never have enough money or connections. It’s kind of sad where we are as a country .. frustrating. I Just avoid it all.
