Clicked for a whisky review and a Stan Rogers concert broke out. Love it haha. Visited Oban this past June and I imagine the bar may have been the Whisky Vaults Hotel Bar. Best selection I found in town. Cheers gents 🥃
Facebook was peak back in 2012ish. Fino sherry has a layer of Flor on it that prevents oxidation during aging. Its typically straw to gold in colour which is odd that this has so much red to it. Must be some e150? The Oban 14 is a bottle ive struggled with. Very sweet and sour. There's been times I've hated it, and was going to drain pour it. And then other times when ive loved it.
Ah, so I went and flip reversed it on the fino eh? Thanks for the info :) Still haven't gotten around to trying the 14 again. I should probably get in that! So much whisky, so little time!
Just a personal point. Adam you have been to Oban before. You were 4/5 when as a family we did a Scotland tour holiday. I recall going up to the hills behind the town to a little bar which was packed with shelves of whiskeys. I tried a few samples and I think I gave you a little sip as you kept asking to try. So it could all be Dads fault. Again!
Hahahaha! Hi Dad! Thanks for the deep dive into the mists of my past. I had absolutely no idea we went to Oban. I have very very vague memories of a family trip to Scotland and staying in a cottage with a wood fire and attempting to roast chestnuts on it - was that the same trip?
