Wow! How's this not shameful and embarrassing to Nigeria. The Nigerian politicians just don't care and lack any dignity. For Shell to refuse to buy or be part of the Nigerian refinery, speak volumes. Nigeria is doomed if you don't get rid of these politicians.

During Obasanjo's administration, he approached Shell to buy some Nigerian refineries. Shell declined due to the massive corruption with the NNPC, or the refineries were not functioning. It's very much like buying a used car that's not working. Moreover, is Nigeria handicap and can't help themselves? I am assuming that you do have a government in Nigeria.
Undevelope country should have been the fastest growing economies,to meet up with countries that are ahead ,that is not the case we see in Nigeria or africa.india is even trying it best.

African leadership isn't effective and doesn't care about mass transporting of people. Inter-travel within Africa is near impossible by air. Flights from Lagos to Mozambique or Lagos to Sao Tome are either non existent or will take several days but perfect flights to US /Canada/UK. How can we Africans enjoy tourism within our continent?
It as nothing to do with our government leaders. It's about demand. Airlines are for profit companies there only going to go where people want to travel. And Africa is the least visited continent in the world.
In another way what did former president Obasanjo did to reverse the tide of corruption in the oil industry during his time. And for Dangote he is victim of his own game, he is the one that destroyed the price mechanism of our essential commodity market and other consumer product such as cement. In as much as we're all patriotically sympathetic to Dangote refinery, should at the same time, not be blinded by their antics.

It’s so shameful that none of the journalists on this show didn’t ask or at least query why our former president OBJ, try to correct the system after receiving credible information from SHELL at the time? Tomorrow, they will now say the current president has a refinery in MALTA GUINESS, problem that started since, even our ginger former President OBJ couldn’t stop during his time. This is really deep. If obasanjo said he invited shell to come and take over refinery to revamp it and they told him of the high corruption in that sector what did he do as the president then to clean the oil sector
No I disagree. Shell refused to buy the refineries because they didn’t want to help process our raw materials. They would rather perpetuate their western neocolonial economic policies to keep developing countries down.

Since Nigeria got her independence from Britain,Nigeria has never been able to rule the country democratically with independent strong democratic institutions,it goes to confirm the widely held views from every developed and civilised countries in the world that Africa by extension are not capable of democracy and the rule of law and order and financial discipline since they have no history and culture of democracy and will always need help from developed countries
