@@juliancheal Ethernet based standards are coming along, they've always been there but companies did that thing where they would gimp and patent the protocol, you know, like XBOX HA HA HAAAA anyhow, check out newer networked systems. To solve this problem, we could use modern parts to multiplex MIDI lines ourselves with less latencies than ganging the old gear the old way. We go this far, just build the part you want from here on out. I could make a multiplexed interface of my own and all my instruments will now have a two or three outlet midi fixture into the one and each one has a control system amongst systems - they don't even have to be connected to each other as long as we're using solid clocks on everything and syncing up before each tune. Wireless has gotten great, too. 60GHz technolologies mainly depend on multipath reflections inside buildings where most are working hard to eliminate them. :-)

I had an sci drumtraks with midi and the thing was loose as hell- unusable!

@@annother3350 I have Drumtraks. Seems to work fine over midi tining-wise. Although the omni nature of the inputs is a little weird as is clocking it, but it works. Oberheim is a doddle by comparison on the midi front. Stick a cable in and that's it.

@@AlexBallMusic Wine Country Productions have the updated OS chips for the DrumTraks for better MIDI implementation.

A friend just loaned one to me and the sound is so fantastic. I have several sample sets from it I've acquired over the years, but there is something special about having the real thing. The one I have needs some repairs (why I'm watching this vid years later, hoping for some insights as to what's up), but it's still awesome.

You think Tom Oberheim are waiting this kid to put value on his Gear ? Nobody serious in the game make a midification of a DX ... If you buy a DX to use it by midi control with a beatstep séquencer, so thats the proof you absolutely dont know nothing about Why people use old beat machines ... We use old beat machine to avoid the horrible midi offset latency by using analog clock on the 12beat séquencer ... Almost a lot of people are so deaf to feel it
