Only done India the once and it's still, many years later, hard to describe authentically to anyone who hasn't been. Some of the most beautiful places i have ever seen and some of the hardest things to see, often within metres of each other. Great series, capped off by this hotel which sums up the sheer wonder of the place.
The hardest things are thanks to 200 yrs of loot British did to once richest nation with 24% GDP, India. India was richest nation in world before British oppressed, looted, colonised india for 200 yrs and made poor. British owes India 45 trillion dollars in reparations. Though india is again growing bck from 99% poverty British left to 14% now. India has today become 5th largest economy. Will soon grow further and attain it's past glory
My dad lived in India for a while back in the early 2000s. We went to Agra and he said we stayed in a Taj. I remember the feeling I got at the Taj Mahal, but some 20 years later I am hoping to go back and I think you’ve just persuaded me to stay here. The whole video was just wonderful ❤
India has to the land of textiles and design. That inlay desk is beautiful. Very labor intensive to make something like that. I like the color scheme of the room. Sometimes all the vibrant colors can be overwhelming. This is my kind of relaxed room, and after a long dusty day with crowds of people at the Taj Mahal, it is refreshing to return to a room like that! It is good to know that one can take a golf cart to the Taj. This is truly a life time trip that you never ever forget. I wonder if Princess Diana stayed here too?. She fell in love with India and even has one of her ancestors that was Indian, an Indian woman that married in the 17th or 18th century when India was part of the British crown. i am surprised the Taj Mahal was not lit up at night. Truly a magnificent building. i am surprised you got all those shots without any people?? 30:23
It is with more than little sadness to know that you are finishing up your India series (for now.) Thank you Kevin, you have certainly ignited a deep desire to follow in some of your footsteps through India.
I think you nailed the part where you talk about India and it's growth. We're growing, messy, but still admirable in what we have achieved so far. Thanks for this series, I've thoroughly enjoyed the videos.
Very refined and classy elegance without being over the top or garish like the kitsch and pretentiousness of the Fairmont Jaipur 🫣 Amazing how they keep the grounds so green and lush with temperatures so stifling 🥵 Stunning videography as always, thank you for all your hard work and creativity 🙏🏼
Totally agree about the grounds- and it's not like they had water sprinklers running 24/7. They must just have some of that very special grass haha. Thanks as always for watching 🩴
You should definitely give a visit to 'Oberoi Wildflower Hall, Shimla'. Its a 'hidden gem' with a history of more then a Century. In my opinion, Wildflower Hall is the property that define 'Oberoi Hotels' in every aspect. Please do a visit in near future, will be a once in a lifetime experience for sure. Kindly add this property in you priority bucket list. Regards with love for your work ❤
our family used to own this land. through bad business and some poor financial luck, we had to sell the majority stake of this to oberoi during the project phase. now i cant get a coffee for free there lol. oh well... he did make it an exemplar, so there's that. :/
This looks like a great "once in a lifetime" splurge, with those incredible views of the Taj. I'd recommend booking the hotel during a full moon. The Taj Mahal simply glows under the moonlight, looking more like a lite cream puff mirage than a solid marble structure. You will scarcely believe your eyes. We got lucky and saw her this way back in 1991, thanks to lucky timing and a resourceful rickshaw driver who insisted on taking us to the best viewing spot, down of course some dark and scary path. Staying at this hotel, you can avoid the anxiety and benefit fully from the dreamy view 🙂
There is a lot of integrity in the videos you post. This one in particular is stunning. It shows the experience you had. And comes closest to the real experience. A few people can do that. I am still at awe at the detailing and completion in each video. There is a lot other content makers can learn from you. India experience posts simply stood out! Awesome! These experiences and its feel will be missed. Well that's about traveller, he carries with him, some warm moments as he cuts off to new experiences in his journeys. Catch you in the new horizons!
I personally think this India series has been your best work. I do have a question though. On hard product alone, which was your favorite property in India?
I do love thr century episides! If ever an episode deserved to be exported in Dolby Vision, it was this one... although I think RU-vid would take a month to process it 🤣 Brilliant video as always Kevin.
26:44 what he was trying to say is that the Thali was exactly the same in Oberoi as in every other restaurant. Too.much authenticity alway becomes boring agyer a few times 😅😅
Morena Kevin!! It has been my ultimate dream to stay there and when you were doing your tour of India, I was hoping you would do Agra!! All I can say is WOW!!! You sure have inspired me to save even more to travel to India and stay here!! Thank you so much Kevin for your series of India! We have loved every Review you have done throughout your travels on this marvelous Country!! Look forward more of your next Travels to Vietnam and others. Take care 🙂
I wish you had got the opportunity to visit Oberoi Vanyavillas. It is one of their most expensive & exclusive property. I was hoping you would do a Wildlife Safari at the famous tiger reserve, Ranthambore and stayed at Vanyavillas because it is hardly a two hour drive from Jaipur. Secondly, I wish you had shared a small remembrance for P.R.S Oberoi as he passed away on 14th November. You are a fan of his ideology & creation. Lastly, I wish India gives you more hotels to bring you back and do more reviews.
What an incredible experience! It is the best of what India has to offer. i have been falling in love with India through your videos. India is magical with that spectacular view of the Taj Mahal in the background. India is a land of paradoxes. I am glad you showed me this stunning local. I think i can afford to do one night, as it is truly a lifetime experience! i would probably arrive as soon as they allow you to check in and leave at the last minute to take full advantage of my stay. Just to be able to see the Taj Mahal from the balcony for hours taking in the view and then visiting it the next morning really makes it worth it. Thanks for sharing. i am going to miss India. I throughly enjoy your videos with its wealth of information. Now, i need to work on preparing for my trip to see the Taj Mahal. When i first tasted Biryani on my flight into Mumbai i though i was so lucky to be alive to have eaten it. It smelled heavenly as the crew started to hand it out. I now feel so sorry for all the people in the world that will die without ever eating the dish. It might sound amusing to say that, but i truly mean that! And now, here is the splendor of the Taj Mahal in all its glory. All around the world each country has tried to outdo each other with incredibly designed buildings but the Taj Mahal will always remain the Mona Lisa to the Architectural world.
Land of paradox coz 200 yrs of loot British did to once richest nation with 24% GDP, India.
Beautiful, beautiful, Beautiful. I loved your description of who should visit India in the beginning. And then saying nothing and leaving us to the Taj Mahal was a masterstroke. I will miss your India videos Kevin. Needless to say that I always waited for you to post them. Take care.
V sad that this will be your last vlog in Indian soil throughly enjoyed every video virtually let it be hotels or airline facilities marvelous stupendous on kevins truly unbiased vlogs side note one feels as if we are watching National Geographical channel full of information and whatnot Thanks Kevin indian hospitality sector miss you 🌹🌹🌹👍👍👍👍👍👍💯💯💯💯
I wish the hotels/city would develop the surrounding areas within a 2 mile radius, around these beautiful hotels so the sensory contrast is not so jarring when you enter these beautiful places
Your understanding and honest presentation of India is refreshing. As an Indian who lives in the west now, your depiction of India is the most accurate I've seen online. You seem to have tapped into the true essence of India. Thank you, was very enjoyable watching your vlog.
There's quite a bit written about them. My guess is operations will be much easier when the hotels are closer together especially if they do really expect to have a different type of resort. Thanks for watching 🩴
The best part of this video - The context of India you described before the actual hotel review. Just marvellous, best I have heard including Indians. It puts everything in its place. Thank you for understanding India so well. ❤️🇮🇳
I am still speechless when looking at your video. It seems I will thus remain with all your videos. I don t know what to say. Such heritage so refined in all arts.. so elegant .. rich... delicate works .. such real taste.. a true masterpiece edifice. .Which is the best .. I can t tell .. Each hotel you show has such shine. ambiance.. glow.. magic.. You surely know where to go... My sincere Compliments
Wow. What a beautiful video. Such unique, subtle observations about my country. Outstanding production value. Thanks to backup of backups! Looking forward to more such videos from across the world.
All the info and intro thoughts are accurate, if you had your favourite shambala massage with a view of the Taj would you have been predisposed to give 101/100 score
So many travel videos gush over hotels, but few carry as much weight as this one. I’ll be honest, this may have shifted India from “maybe some day” to “active planning”
I'm very happy about that shift. Traveling to India, I think is sometimes misunderstood- so I'm glad these videos helped you put it in the planning stage!
Beautiful video and outstanding hotel. This has been an excellent series. Based on how your flip-flops were treated I plan to splurge and make this a destination next year. Thanks!
Sensational video. Wonderful hotel. I went to the Taj Mahal in September and visited Agra for the day only before returning to Delhi. A real missed opportunity not to stay here. I don’t think I was aware of the hotel at the time albeit bizarrely I was staying at the Oberoi in New Delhi. This is the best video to date and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. In fact I’ve actually watched it twice. Thank you very much. Here’s to 100,000 subscribers very soon 😊
Hello! I'm usually a silent viewer but I just want to say how much I appreciate your videos! They are so well-made, informative and the videography is stunning! There is no other RU-vid channel quite like this one. Keep up the good work!
loved the video, also where did you book the hotel from? the hotel website itself? i plan to visit agre in late march, so it would be great to stay there if I get a good deal. Did you ask them for the upgrade or they did it on their own?
No, this was booked through Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts. The booking platform is always found in my opening graphic. The upgrade was included with the rate.
Here some of the best native Indian architecture from all over India. Indian native architecture usually have large amount of carved statues Khajuraho temples Konark Sun Temple Hoysaleswara temple Chennakeshava Temple Brihadeeswara Temple Ajanta and Ellora caves and rock cut architecture (Kailasa Temple) Sanchi Stupas Rajastani, Gujurati and Uttarpradeshi, Madhyapradeshi forts, palaces, mansions and stepwells
thank you so much for coming to our country and making this reviews. You described India in the exact perfect words in the beginning of this video. If you know India, you would also know that less than 0.01% of our population will ever have the opportunity to stay at such places. This video was interesting and more so because Agra holds a very special place in my heart. I just wanted to say that Agra is full of monuments of Mughal Architecture. Taj Mahal is the gem of course but there is also Baby Taj, Akbar's Tomb and Agra fort and Fatehpur Sikri, which are not to be missed.
India and everything about it has always called to me, I am unsure why I am drawn to everything from the music, the fabrics, the smell of things from there even their beautiful temple artifacts.....I like to think I lived there in a past life and am so soothed by my prized few things that I have collected over the years....Real not touristy things to have as keepsakes. I will never afford to travel this way but absolutely love watching your videos from Australia, thankyou for all the hard work I love them
Your video quality is top-notch. I would have never guessed that you use an iPhone to record the videos. Also, your review looks pretty unique compared to most other travel vloggers. Amazing !!
Hi. Newish to your channel, and enjoy it very much. Lived in SE Asia for 6 years 20+years ago and traveled widely. Never got to India so am immensely enjoying this series. Now that I am terminally ill, I will not ever travel again. Thus this look at the hotel and the Taj Mahal is very special. I thought my bucket list had all been checked until I saw the Taj Mahal up close in your video. Such a wonder. Thank you so much for the content and profound narrative that you provide. It makes me very happy to spend time away from difficulties and pain in the images I see thru your lens.
Tirupati, Gandikota, Pitchchukalkanka, Visakhapatnam, Horsley Hills are all located in a single state of India (that is Andhra Pradesh). It is rather strange that the Oberois have singled out one particular Indian state for establishing some of their most luxurious hotels. Tirupati as destination of high net worth hindu Indian expat pilgrims and Visakhapatnam as a major port city may make the sense and Gandikota for its unique canyon landscapes is perhaps worth taking the risk but Pitchchukalanka and Horsley Hills- really?
Wow, this hotel looks absolutely amazing! Thanks for sharing this detailed tour. Can't wait to experience the luxury of Oberoi Amarvilas when I visit Agra. 🏨
Excellent video production Kevin! I've been enjoying your content. I don't know about you, but aside from the beautiful Taj Mahal hotel, one thing caught my eye, min 6:28, kites! I'm a sucker for making and flying kites while growing up in Malaysia. Now living in US, I'm still a huge fan of them, all shapes and sizes as it reminds me of my childhood.😁
As I was reading your comment I thought "you should come to Vietnam then..." and as I read along it made perfect sense that you grew up with them in Malaysia. Still incredibly popular in VN especially on Sunday mornings in parks.
I'm a bit late on the end of the Indian series due to exams but I must say as an Indian living abroad, Kevin really portrayed a beautiful experience matching much of our thoughts. I can't wait for the next India series, hopefully starring the newer Air India products with the A350 and other aircraft and if possible, the new Rajkot airport as a Rajkot native myself 😅 Great job Kevin 🎉
well explained India sir ,, but i will also highly recommend u to travel northern himalayan states , ladakh , or north eastern states or southern states , if u truely want to see India more . Majority of youtubers just visit rajasthan , delhi and agra .
If only I had the money. LHR-MCT-DEL in J on WY. A break of journey to experience the delights of OMAN and then onto this stunning Hotel and my dream to experience the staggering Beauty of the Taj Mahal as you did, before I turn to dust. What an incredible, life changing wonder and experience. A truly humbling experience from the ultimate homage to LOVE and being looked after by the most Beautiful of Souls in their home. Thank you for this video, it's displays my dream on screen. 🙏 Alan, Manchester, UK. EPIC!!
26:00 The food quality looks awful here..maybe has been tweaked for tourist gut, with less spice, but the plate looks absolute bland w.r.t Indian dish textures and gravy thickness. - The entire menu looked like something imposed on the person in the name of traditional Indian thali. Didn't even have South Indian dishes, Indo- Chinese, Tibetan options which generally many urban restaurants serve on a daily basis.
Kevin, what month did you travel to Agra? 46 degrees Celsius is seriously scorching! India in summer rains a lot, I am surprised that it was that hot in Agra. By the way, your travel Vlog videos are sensational!👍👍👍💪💪💪👏👏👏
Monsoon (or the rainy season) arrives in that subtropical part of North Indian plains by Mid to late June and stays upto mid of September, picking up between mid of July and end of August. Before that, early/ Mid April upto mid of June is summer in India, with scorching heat and all that leasing to temperatures climbing to mid forties on the centugrade scale. As rain cools down everything a bit, things are not as unbearavly hot between Mid June and mid September as it is between early/mid May and mid June, still it can get hot on cloudy days in the rainy season when it does not rain. India has a rainy seaaon between the summer and the autumn and is called the "Monsoon".
I remember commenting on this channel about why I thought Oberoi was the best hotel chain in India, if not the world. So i cringe every time somebody takes the name of Oberoi or Taj (or any other like ITC or Leela) in the same breath. 😅 Great video...not sure I can ever afford this Oberoi though, but been to Oberoi Grand (Kolkata) and a couple of Trident hotels and loved each one of them, mainly for the staff and the services. Hope you are back in India again...soon. Good luck!
Me neither R last letter Heathrow always comes to my mind S last letter business was easy. Air for 3 empty spaces long flight and you would visit family in the US Canada is nearby, so I guessed somewhere in Canada. I had Vancover and other Canadian cities YYZ was pure luck😀
